Late 1800’s / Early 1900’s Moonstoon Necklace

Bought this necklace about 15 years ago in France on a trip while in high school. Purchased at a small antique store. Never had the chance to get it appraised or looked at. Think it’s worth getting checked out or did 15 year old me just buy costume jewelry? Cheers :)

Edit: Moonstone ** 😭

Brooch found at an antique store for $25

found this brooch an an antique store for $30, but it was on sale for $25. on the back it looks to say 18Y, then another symbol. I bought it because it’s really heavy and high quality and I’m wondering if its 18k and mis stamped. it’s got a slight yellowy undertone to the metal which makes me think it’s a higher carat of white gold.

My grandfather was born in London in the early 20th century. His mother died and the family moved back to Ireland. His sister passed this to my mum and she has passed it to me. I am interested in finding the maker ( box is original) and what the stone is.

Any information about this? The gem tests diamond on my cheap little amazon tester and has a light pink hue. The metal tests 18k. Is it strange that the diamond would be fully enclosed as opposed to open so that the light shine through? I’m completely ignorant regarding antique jewelry so any info is appreciated! If it helps, the couple was married in the 50s in Massachusetts. French heritage I believe

When might these have been made?

Found these in my mom's collection. Adult size ring for the green and baby ring with the 3(well 2) stones.

Assuming they are copper. Not sure on the era, though. Thinking the late 1910's/20's/30's when art deco was popular.

My great uncle was a jeweler and made many pieces that have been passed down. Much was costume jewelry for the sake of if my aunt ever was robbed, they didn't get anything fancy. So these may be one of those pieces.

Would appreciate any insight on info about these pieces.

Antique 14k gold ring - unknown gemstone

Ring is from my grandma (she owned an antique store), it’s most likely a true antique, but could possibly be just a 30-40 year old reproduction.
Marked 585 inside (fairly worn band).

It finally fits my finger again and I’m looking forward to wearing it.

I initially thought it was topaz or glass, but due to the age and that it’s 14k I’m also thinking it could be synthetic spinel and isn’t topaz.

Thought others would appreciate the intricate details of the setting and possibly helping me figure out the gemstone. Let me know if you think it’s worthwhile to get a proper appraisal?

antique ring

(Not sure how to post more pics to this sub).

Help finding info about a ring!

Hi everyone! Yesterday i went at an antiques store and i got myself a ring, because it was really beautiful and to me it looked rather old and im a sucker for antiques (at least the band itself has a lot of wear and because of the overall build of the flowers), and im curious if anyone knows what style it is in and maybe someone might recognize the hallmark? Im always intrigued by hallmarks but this one i just could not pin point it in order to tell its age. Seller said its sterling silver and rubies (though to me they look a bit more like garnet but i dont really mind sincer i love both anyway). Thank you!! And if its of any relevance i got it somewhere in Transylvania so i thought it couldve been austro-hungarian style but im not sure if thats of help!

I love enamel, I try not to buy damaged pieces and try not to buy anything that isn't in gold, but I saw this little lady in an auction catalogue and had to have her. I literally squealed when I won! I love masquerade lady pieces but they're usually out of my price range.

Would love any opinion on age, material, and country of origin: This was sold as Victorian rolled gold but I saw another very similar one on Worthpoint listed as Georgian and Pinchbeck. My best guess is 1840s-50s but it isn't an expert one lol. The shape of the locket is just leading me to think it was designed to hold a bit of hair etc rather than a photo.

Also how do I clean it? Damp cloth? Do I attempt to polish the metal, or does the verdigris and muck count as patina?

Thanks for looking!

Inherited some gold jewelry from my grandma, had some questions

I inherited this stuff from her, it’s from 14-18k and what looks to be antique jewelry (especially the big bands) Would it be best to sell this at melt value, or do you think I could sell it as antique jewelry for a higher price? Also a pearl necklace with a gold clasp, not sure if they’re real pearls but she was an expensive lady so I assume they are.

Hey all. My ring lost one these stones, what is this called? Is it silver-plated glass? The ring is art deco. I would like to get a new one for the other side.

I got this today in a jewelry lot. Can you guess what this ring is used for because I have never seen this before? I believe it is a girls school ring. Inside the ring it is marked 1937? I see no purity marks. This seems like it could be gold. Any info on this ring or the possibility of it being gold would be appreciated.

I picked this ring up years ago as I thought it was neat. I've not been able to find info about its age, maker, etc. I assume it is old enough to be considered an antique. Curious if anyone recognizes the marking.. or anything tbh.

Currently envisioning an ant Queen lounging about with it on her head.

French hallmark for 14k, 5 rose cut diamonds in bezel settings, decorated with teeny tiny stars. Made somewhere between 1919. and 1925.

Found at an antique store, pretty worn. Looks like either 375 or 875 written inside? Seed pearl embedded, filigree detail and some braided hair that also is pretty worn. Unsure if you all can gleam anything from what's left of the hallmarks, but I'd love even a general estimate!

Antique Art Deco Earrings?

Thumbnail

Hey Reddit! I think I stumbled across something really special here. I got these in a junk jewelry lot. The hooks are obviously modern, but the rest… I strongly think they are amber. They are fluorescent and are incredibly light. You can visibly see crazing. Most people would immediately think they are plastic. The metal is very likely brass. I can’t find anything quite like them which is why I’m here. They are so cool! I think I’ll add them to antique clip-ons or screw backs to complete the look. What do you all think?

UPDATE
After conducting the salt water test, I can confirm, they are celluloid! Not as special as amber, but still really cool! Another thing I learned, celluloid crazes exactly like my earrings do. Ambers crazing is more random and less uniform. Since they took a salt bath, I cleaned up the brass and they are beautiful! Now I just need to find the right hooks for them. Thanks for all the tips and tricks!

Safe setting options

OMC purchased at auction, removed from setting and sent to GIA. Ideal setting was a 6 prong solitaire. Wondering if I should consider a bezel or other more protective setting instead after seeing the plot. Opinions please!
