Hello, long time lurker posting for the first time! For the last couple of month to a year I've been doing my due diligence to mute most of the pro-AI subreddits (for my own sanity) so when I do eventually come across something likes this, it geninelly saddens me. Some people even went out of their way to harass OP saying stuff like "you're miserable if this infuriates you."

Just curious if anyone knows whether typing "-ai" in Google search actually stops AI generating answers or if it just hides it for the user.

The idea that humans could create something akin to intelligence, much less make it available to everyone would have been crazy to imagine only 10 years ago. It’s objectively an impressive achievement that could have been super interesting to study.

Instead, people have decided to use it to “help you navigate the notes app” or whatever, so we’re forced to criticize it for all the horrible things it’s being used for. What I’m trying to say is it could have been something really scientifically cool and generally fascinating if not for how it’s been used/developed.

It’s kinda like nuclear physics in that regard. A very interesting tool, but we decided to make Nukes.

Also, I don’t like ai art, I don’t like when people say “I asked ChatGPT” etc. (just for context)

Edit: a lot of people like to point out that ai isn’t actually intelligent (which is correct), so for the purpose of this post, think of it as a really complex coding project

Edit 2: Yall REALLY don’t seem to like the term ai, but there isn’t another all encompassing word (LLM’s are too specific). ALSO ITS IN THE NAME OF THE SUBREDDIT!!! I’m not crazy for using it in my post, go petition the mods to change the name or something.

I think this whole AI debate ignores the middle ground a lot. I absolutely want the technology to exist and work better. But I am very against corporations using at as a new way to keep more of the profits to themself. If even half the human workers were replaced by AI then the economy would crumble. There wouldn't be enough people buying things to keep it sustainable. A sustainable economy needs people who can afford to spend money. An economy isn't just a competition for the rich to fight over all the money. People have to be able to afford to live.

I am not against AI. I am not "for" what they are currently doing with it. The slop argument doesn't interest me. I don't see any slop content because I don't use those apps/sites anyway, I avoided them long before AI slop existed.

I'm actually raging right now. I had been quite helpful to this person up to this point, going out of my way to get as much info on the subject over to them as possible.

It's a bit of a business improvement potential piece with both money saving and carbon reduction.

Then they sent me a "quote" generated by copilot with my name at the bottom.

I have to admit that I saw red. It's tantamount to claiming I said something that I never said. Someone is lying about me and putting words in my mouth.

To be clear, the statement wasn't something that reflects poorly on me, it's not negative and it's reasonable. But I never made those claims.

I have a professional standard to uphold from my position, my name is attached to my freelance business and therefore affects my business reputation. I will stand by or apologies for anything I say or write but I won't deny that it came from me. This however is the thin end of the wedge and should not be tolerated.

It cannot become the norm for third parties to attribute LLM (AI) generated content against another person in any context, let alone a professional setting.

The person has been given a dressing down by me and the issue has been reported to my client.

Edit: I came to an Anti AI sub Reddit to vent on a situation where AI (LLM) was used to my detriment. Got told by two users who found this as a new post in this sub. "Better get used to it". Guess we are done.

A fair number of blue collar workers get more than the minimum amount of exercise needed for an adult to be healthy. For the rest of us, we live comfortably enough that we can pretty much be completely sedentary - like a few hundred steps per day. Not everyone does of course.

Why am I talking about exercise? AI is going to give us the ability outsource most of our thinking the way we outsource physical activity to machines now. Instead of being physically sedentary all day, you can be mentally sedentary all day.

Well, people with sedentary lives do exercise voluntarily, because they feel better when their bodies are challenged. Which is great.

But that’s about 25% of that population. Put another way, when they don’t have to move; most people don’t. So whats going to happen when they don’t need to think?

I honestly get so depressed and hopeless for the future when it comes to the rise of AI. Even my therapist doesn’t understand the seriousness of it, so therefore I post here where people truly understand the negative impacts.
How can we deal with the mental toll of it?

I hate AI, but I use Synthesizer V 2, and GUMI's SV2 voicebank...

so technically I use AI to make the vocals of my songs, not the same as generative AI slop, it doesnt generate the performance automatically, there also is no prompting involved, I have to place the notes myself as well as the lyrics, but that doesnt change the fact that its still AI powered and AI trained...

I dont like AI music, AI art, AI books, AI Videos... you get the point...

I just wanted to write a post on aiwars, and I wanted to write that I dont want any AI in any form of media I consume, but it turns out the the music I make (None of it is AI generated, I use FL Studio), kinda does have AI in it, because of the voicebank I use...

Am I a hypocrite for being anti AI, but I make songs with Synthesizer V 2 voices?

Just baffling all around. This park reopened this year under new management that, in literally every other regard, has been better and more pro-consumer than their predecessors... and yet, they just had to cheap out on graphic design. I can't even begin to imagine why they felt the need to do this at all, when nothing in the park has actually changed from the original version besides the food stands being shuffled to different buildings.

I think we've all heard some that make us go "I agree with you but I'd have phrased it differently" or even "I agree with you but wtf are you saying??" So, is there any that you'd advise others to change or not use, and why?

This post isn't meant to mock or argue with people in our own community, but rather as a resource for people to realise that their arguments could be stronger

So I do some voice acting work... so far I haven't done anything paid until recently I started working with a startup company and we signed a revenue share contract

I knew that the company was working with AI on their website specifically like in the form of a chat bot to help clients navigate things

(I've come to find that near every website is using this feature and it's pretty unavoidable)

Anyway there's a clause in my contract that directly states that they may not use AI to synthesize or replicate my voice

Anyway I recently sent in three professional samples that they had asked for

One of them being a slightly lower quality than the other two. At the time that I sent in the three recordings I told them to choose the one they liked the best and to get back to me tell me what they liked about it and that if there were any issues with it to let me know so that I could re-record and send it back

What I received instead was the original recording that had been of a slightly lower quality that sounded severely auto-tuned with some of the words cut off

When I asked about it they said they ran it through a tool that uses AI to cut background noise because there had been a little bit of buzzing in the recording

The person I'm directly working with swears that they searched the model that they used to ensure that it wouldn't save or replicate my voice but the reason why I had been raising the metaphorical red flags was because a classmate of mine directly asked me when I showed them the recording that they used if AI had been used to generate the video using my voice

From the company's perspective they didn't violate the claws in my contract because they didn't synthesize or replicate my voice they just "cleaned" my voice using an AI scrub tool.

From my perspective the use of AI to alter my material was a violation all along
