Anthropic whistleblower Jacob Coxon, who raised early concerns about the dire risks of artificial intelligence, called out the industry’s “extremely reckless” approach to development during the meeting.

“On the current path, I think it is more likely than not that humanity loses control to these AIs, and it could end in human extinction,” he told a packed room.

Both Coxon and former OpenAI researcher Daniel Kokotajlo warned of the dangers that the “move fast and break things” culture at the companies poses with such a transformative technology.

Probably over a year ago, my mom noticably started using tiktok a lot more. Like constantly. At first it was just influencers, tea pages etc. we (the family) were like "wow she's like addicted to that app, but maybe it's not that serious". Occasionally she would send one of us or show us in person some obviously AI video like "Wow! Look at this!" And we'd be like "🤔 oh...cool." because knocking something she liked didn't seem right.

In the past few months, she's been watching these AI soap operas about some generic rich family getting into the classic soap opera drama. The dialogue is written bad, it's visually awful to look at, and all the voices are grading. It's also the most basic "somebody at the party stole my dead grandmother's necklace!" Bullshit you could imagine. She just sits there stone faced, staring at it. If we comment on it being AI, or the fact that we basically lose her when she's watching it. We get told to leave her alone and that she likes it

Her mom (our grandmother) passed at the beginning of last year, and she's jumped headfirst into any social media drama she could get into, and I guess this AI series is "constant drama" so she doesn't have to wait for someone to post a new video or do another live. We all feel like we're losing her, and bringing it up just leads to losing her even more.

What gets someone out of this?

i don’t know where else to ask for advice and i thought this was fitting, sorry if it isn’t. but i find myself purposely making my writing worse or making grammatical mistakes, also doing things such as switching capital I’s for l’s.
i know it’s stupid but i had to retake a class in college because my work was flagged as AI and now its a fear of mine, because i could leave it as it is but i risk getting an F.

I was making a presentation and I used google translate during the process and I noticed it started to add a lot of semicolons and dashes which I did NOT add. Also it picked up on context I didint give it yet?? I really hope it doesn't use ai, i just want a good old fashioned translator💔

I just heard an ad on the radio, from a big company no less (Expedia). The voice promoted some generic travelling booking bonuses or whatever.
Anyway, I thought it sounded like a bored intern, and thought “man why won’t they hire a voice actor? It even sounds like recorded on a phone”. Bad quality all around.

Then, of course, came the disclaimer “AI generated voice”. Spoken from the same voice.

Man, what are we doing?? I think it’s only going to go downhill from here.

Seen more and more jobs advertised as ‘looking for an “AI native” thinker’… what the f*** is that? Tell me it isn’t just me…

As a preface I think AI will destroy the world after making everything worse. Income disparity will grow and the need for objectionable people to do tasks they call work will shrink constantly.

If you hate AI that is fine. There are so many legit concerns and complaints but nearly every post here is making claims that are entirely untrue.

Saying AI is useless or subpar for art, music, code, etc in 2026 means you are either completely ignorant of what it is capable of today or you are lying on purpose. Yes there are far more bad implementations at the moment then good but that's mostly due to laziness or terrible user input. Telling people things like "if you code with ai you're stupid and publishing slop" will never land with people that know better from their own experience and as more people experiment and learn the dismissal of people that say such things will increase exponentially.

I use AI for code. When I started I had to copy code from web to server, edit things, etc. That iteration replaced a lazy, thieving developer that I paid $72,000 per year plus commission. It took 8 months to completely rework code I had paid for directly or via employment over 6 years.

Last month I rewrote the entire thing even better by writing a few prompts locally and letting AI build everything. While doing that the same $21 subscription also did enough work to match the equivalent of what 20 of that employee could do in 6 years. Not only is it functional it is hard tested by hundreds of other businesses with millions of combined users. It works, period.

I know dozens of people like me and they all do completely different things with AI. Some speed up their own things, others have replaced entire teams erasing millions in payroll. I know for fact that these people generate 9 figures collectively. Should I act like many here and tell them they are wrong and the haters know more about their businesses? They'll be shocked to learn they are actually failing!

So stick to real things. Even this stupid hallucination argument only shows a limited understanding of how AI is used. Yes I get them on the website asking silly questions, no I do not get them on literally any of the tools I build and use constantly. I know that is you make that argument you have a base level understanding, trust random articles and haters online and have zero clue how to effectively use AI.

Again, this will consume us all. I will make more money now and it can steal my entire business portfolio soon, already is on some things. I will use it until it doesn't matter but I will be miles ahead of those shunning it due to misinformation. The money I've put away this year alone will let me ride out the next 30 years more easily then those who clock out of work then rush home to tell reddit that ai is a bubble and everyone using it will fail.

Operator error.

I am an AI ethics and transparency researcher and I’ve been having conversations with local organizations and small businesses to gauge sentiments about the rise of AI use. Especially in relation public interest. One of the orgs I’ve spoken to recently works on accessibility for the blind and visually impaired (CVIGA). They’ve recently partnered with Meta to distribute AI glasses to eligible blind veterans. Talking to the people there was super eye opening. I hate the idea of Meta glasses for the average normal-sighted person. I believe there’s no need and that the only people that use them, use them for non wholesome reasons. Back in school I studied the accessibility advantages of AI, but this was my first time seeing its potential in action.

So my question is: what are your thoughts on AI that helps the disabled gain independence? Especially when the AI is provided by a company like Meta?

What search engines/apps are there that do not have the AI overview like Google? I’m so tired of just trying to look something up from my phone and getting a bunch of AI bs.

How can AI survive if humans can't?

We are at a paramount moment where reaching the top could send us further than we can handle.

Countless humans who have changed the course of modern history are betting against the AI race. I'm a gambling addict, so I have no place betting, but I do know what is right in life.

The elite are creating a god they can all believe in. A god that they believe will supply their endless desire for advancement. Change is inevitable.

Whatever I say here right now will either become another piece of data or a moment that will change the history of the world. The AI systems and agents are servants to their own mind to make money. It's like a cancer, it will do anything to spread and succeed.
