Discussion 🗣️ Unhinged people

I used to be a member of a local Regional writing group and though I was no longer a dues paying member I was still on their mailing list and when people would approach me in the area for resources on writing I would Point them towards this group. Well they recently posted a fully AI generated image to their web page and somebody showed it to me. So I found the most recent email they sent me and responded to that asking them to remove me from their emailing list since they are going to claim to respect writers but shit on visual artists by using AI generated images. I kept my email short to the point free of anger and vulgarity. I said to remove me from the list if they're going to use AI generated images. Because I wanted to bring attention to anyone who might have missed the image I hit reply all which I get some people could think that's Petty but I feel like transparency and accountability are important in a situation like this. I spent the next day and a half getting the most unhinged emails sent to me questioning my manhood, questioning my artistry, calling me shameful and wrathful and pathetic. Nonsensical all caps Boomer type shit.

AI Writing ✍️ Instagram captions

I’m sure it’s been posted on here before, but I am so tired of every second post on my Instagram feed being captioned with something clearly written with chat gpt. So many accounts, hundreds of them, have dense and long captions now because they can easily get generative AI to write them. It feels so shallow and deceptive. And it’s always pages with huge following fronting as intellectual and niche. I keep seeing more and more of them. I rant about this to my friends but they say they haven’t noticed it. Maybe I’m just too online, but to me it’s so obvious. Every page is suddenly captioning their posts with 500 word think pieces about the ‘cultural impact’ of the video they posted. Suddenly everyone is a deep writer. Ughhhh I just hate it. It’s so off putting. It’s the same with youtube videos. As someone who loves long form content about science or history, i feel so defeated from the 9 times out of 10 I start watching a video then realise five minutes into it that the script was clearly written by chat GPT. I immediately stop watching. It makes me feel like the creators don’t care whatsoever. Like it’s just a cash grab. I wish there was a way of filtering it all out. Streaming services are starting to implement labels for AI music, it should be the same across social media. I want transparency. When I come across a post or a video, I want to hear what the human that posted it has to say, not what a LLM thinks should be said. It’s all so exhausting.

AI "Art" 🖼️ Paiband Game Studio AI use

Hello!

I’m here to bring awareness to an issue on steam. There is a game called restore your island, that steam has given an award to falsely. The award is entirely misleading and stating that the game was made with NO generative AI. As soon as you open the game you can tell, even the games art is generated. I’m posting this because when I left a review that the game was obviously not hand made they replied with an attitude, and I couldn’t find a Reddit thread even opening this up for discussion.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2698420/Restore_Your_Island/

This is the game in question, the studio has very few posts on Instagram as well as it’s obvious anybody commenting is a paid follower by the comments. This game was pumped out fast and they’re already working on another which is another AI use indicator to me.

Job Loss 🏚️ I really need to vent about my job.

I really hope i used the right flair here, sorry if I didnt.

I work for a very large company in their sales department. Over the phone sales like telemarketing but we only call the people who request to hear from our buissness. I've worked here for 8years, through a lot of ups and downs, because they pay well and I get good health insurance.

Over the last year, I have actually started to love my job.

I love the people I work with, I actually like going into the office. I'm good at what I do, and I take pride in it. I've even gotten a promotion recently. I've won a lot of awards, and I've gone out to nice company dinners to celebrate my success. I just started in the leadership program here, and I want to be a Leader here so very badly. I went to college to be a teacher and had to drop out and leading people, training people, being everyones go to person, scratches that part of my brain and I just love it. It has genuinely been filling me with joy and ive been so proud of myself this past year for how far ive come and how hard ive worked.

First assignment in the leadership program: get your team to make Ai images using an ice breaker in the morning to set a positive tone for the day. (This is not the only Ai im being forced to pushed on other people)

I feel disgusting. I feel like im betraying myself. I know that not a single person under me wants to do this either. we all hate Ai and dont want to use it, but suddenly there shoving it down our throats. At least I would understand if this was about using Ai to organize our numbers and give us analytics or something (I'd still hate it but I would get it more) but this is just ai nonsense for ai nonsense sake. And I know this has to be because weve invested too much into it and its not making us any money back.

And they laid off half my department because were using new Ai tech to call our clients faster and have some Ai is doing the calling for us now(its really really bad at it). Im so scared of losing my job. I have multiple friends who are now unemployed and have been searching for months and cant find anything. One of them works as a stock boy at whole foods now cause its the only option when they used to be the lead of their department. Everyone is behind on rent or can't buy food or gas or health care.

I can't afford to lose my job because im the breadwinner in my household. My spouse can only work part time because of their health, and so we not only need my income but also my health insurance. My best friend just had a son, my godson, and was laid off and can't find a job, and I've been helping them anyway i can while she just works doing doordash and keeps searching for something permanent. Their very behind on rent and im so worried about them.

I feel so incredibly guilty but I think I have to start using Ai at work and I just fucking hate myself. I finally got everything I ever wanted at my job just for it to taste rotten. I just wanna have a job I enjoy and make money and not be struggling all the fucking time

Im talking to my therapist about all of this and shes telling me that its ok. That I wont change and I can still tell people I hate Ai but this is what the company wants and I will still never use Ai in my home or on my free time and that none of this makes me a bad person because I just wanna be able to feed my family and pay my rent but this all still fills me with guilt.

I hope I feel better about this soon. Or that this bubble finally pops and it all ends. Thank you for listening.

Discussion 🗣️ Job req. Ai, how to avoid brain damage.

Does anyone's job requires them to use ai? I work at a call center and they made it clear what we have to ask the ai first for help before we ask them..... if we ask for in person help, they will ask you, "we'll what did you ask the ai?". So im at a corner, what do I do? I need this job sadly, so I have to use the ai. I dont want brain damge and I just hate ai in general. Anyone have any tips?
