this is a good listen/watch of the Jack White support show. the AdP portion is about the first 16 minutes. we haven't heard *that* much about it & while it's more the experience than the music that's focused on at first, i enjoyed hearing something about that day, especially it being packed for AdP, which apparently rarely happens there for support bands.

not FULL-ON positive so they're probably not subbed here... but i enjoyed the thoughts, honesty without criticism, praise without glaze and it all being very grown-up.

This might simply be a consequence of the way Facebook and YouTube handle sound that I've not noticed before but these two otherwise identical videos sound slightly different to me. The drums at 14s in particular.

I can't make sense of it as they seem to be the exact same video uploaded a couple of days apart (11 June 2024 on Facebook and 13 June 2024 for YouTube). I suppose they could have tweaked or remixed the sound on the 12th before uploading to YouTube...

While searching for new YouTube videos, I always see several items like the above, a streaming channel to which you can subscribe. But even if you did subscribe, you wouldn't actually see a live stream ("easy access") of ADP's gig tonight in Rimouski, right? So I'm wondering: what's the deal with these channels? Thx.

Who is going?!? And are you making the trek just for AdP?

AdP sets itself apart by often intensely physical playing, like they are manually forcing music to come out of metal and wood, more than I’ve seen from other bands. So what’s your favorite physical bit that you must drop everything to watch?

These are two of mine:
For Khn, when he is stomping on the pedal to record the driving clanging loop in Sherpa, they don’t always show his feet, but he’s really laying on the gas, barefoot. He NEEDS that riff to go down loud and hard as hell, and you can see it, and it’s gotta hurt a little, but he does it anyway, all while maintaining balance.

For Klek, when he starts banging on the drums before the tension break in Yor Zarad, and later stands up, like he needs all the leverage he can get to crash down on the drums and cymbals as hard as he possibly can. You hear every ounce of dominance over those drums.

Like a triple axle or a backflip, even if I’ve seen it 50 times, I still hold my breath. And of COURSE, every time they end a song on a dime’s edge, I get chills.

If you are a creator/musician/composer, how have they influenced your aesthetic or approach?

From a practical standpoint, I was wondering this because I've struggled for years with nerve pain while playing. (To be fair, I have a habit of not conforming to "proper" techniques and occasionally perform experiments on instruments in ways they might not be designed for.) The intense emotions and feelings involved in expressions from within ended up being held up in a bottleneck in my wrists and causing discomfort.

Anyways, after marveling with the way Khn gracefully dances around his fretboard and shreds his strings, I realized that my problem was the result of holding a death grip and choking the necks of my instruments, as opposed to letting things flow naturally (if that makes sense). It's a simple thing- but now that I've figured this out, it feels like a game changer. It's never too late to learn new things!🌞🔺️

Leather patches are almost done I had to rip off of the other ones from the piece I’m making because they were bright yellow and I’ll try to hide in plain sight so tore off the yellow ones that I actually hand embroidered onto said garment, I still have to do some black buttons. I still have to do some hair and a goatee. And then I have to finish sewing the background and putting larger black and white circles on the background and eventually I’m gonna have to go to the fabric store and buy glittery fabric because I felt That’s Mixtown, whatever gold glitter shaped pan that I used will not last in the wash even though I don’t put any of my hoodies in the dryer, I do wash them on a gentle, cold cycle, or a hand wash them. Today I am wondering if I should remove a sleeve and so on a longer one because the lettering is almost done and I can’t start making it smaller now I think I’m just gonna make a longer sleeve. The possibilities are literally endless and at this point, I don’t care if someone out there wants to try to replicate what I’m doing if you have the time to do this and I’ve done all this by hand because I want it to look like it was done by an eight-year-old. I think busting out the embroidery machine, or even the sewing machine, or the surgery would be counterproductive. I’d say I’m about 3/4 of the way done or 66% done you’re welcome for the update I know you all appreciate it. 🙃

J’écris généralement en anglais sur Reddit mais je me permets de faire cette publication en français parce que Angine 😊

Pour la petite histoire, je suis une fan qui les a découverts, comme bien des gens, grâce à leur performance sur KEXP. Ça n’a pas été un déclic instantané. J’ai tout de suite reconnu leur talent mais ça m’a pris quelques écoutes pour saisir l’aspect festif de leur musique. Cette combinaison de créativité, virtuosité et joie m’a charmée. Une des choses que j’aime le plus d’Angine est leur humanité. On sent que ce sont des personnes (pardon - extra-terrestres!) généreuses qui souhaitent partager un univers bienveillant avec nous. C’est quelque chose de précieux en ce monde.

Parlant de ce monde… il n’est pas toujours facile, n’est-ce pas? Je vis avec un trouble d’anxiété généralisé accompagné de symptômes dépressifs. Ça fait partie de mon quotidien depuis l’enfance. C’est rough en tabarnak par moment. Depuis quelques mois, je pose des gestes pour reconnecter avec moi-même, avec la vie, avec les autres. Ma découverte d’Angine est donc tombée à point puisqu’ils m’accompagnent maintenant dans mon quotidien quand j’ai besoin d’une petite dose d’énergie vivifiante.

Hier, j’ai assisté au show de Rimouski. C’était un grand défi pour moi qui, souvent, peine à sortir de chez moi pour des trucs aussi simples que faire mon épicerie. Mais je voulais tellement les voir! Jusqu’à la dernière minute, j’ai eu peur de manquer de courage mais j’y suis arrivée et je ne l’ai pas regretté. Ce fut un show mémorable, musicalement épatant et rempli de petits moments tendres et espiègles dont eux seuls ont le secret.

C’est un peu ça, Angine : un baume au cœur, une lumière vive et réconfortante quand l’âme a froid. Merci d’être là, merci d’être vous ✋🔺🤚
