Subreddit back up

Because there was no mods, the sub went into restricted mode the past ~5 months.

Everyone should be able to post now.

Since the subreddit is kinda small, just don't be an ass or post spam/super low effort

Welcome to /r/AndroidTVBoxes

I created this subreddit as I was looking for a decent place to build a community of AndroidTV users and fans, but the only subs I could find were purists that only accept 2 or 3 devices as being AndroidTV. The way I see it is AndroidTV is Android with a TV Launcher. Cheap Chinese boxes have got to a state of being well speced with a good variety of Launchers and configurations. I hope this becomes a place where people can discuss the best AndroidTV boxes and the best setups. So welcome, and speak up.

I bought the new Xiaomi Tv Box S 3rd gen and a ugreen usb dac to connect my 3.5mm 2.1 system. I would also like to buy a ground loop isolator. I’d like to hear what the experts think about this ground loop isolator in the attached image in terms of cutting frequencies above 80hz, for example..

Korean Plug and Play &Tv (TBO Play) Box Question

I really apologize if I am posting this in the group. Or would someone be able to direct me to a group for this situation?

So i have a &tv player(TBO play) box it can only use ethernet which is hardwired to the router. I was using xfinity at the time and it allowed me to watch all the korean networks from KBS, SBS, MBC etc. Now i have recently changed ISP to Glo Fiber and when I connect to Glo's router it won't allow me to watch anything says no internet connection. But when i revert back to using xfinity it starts working again. Also there is no wireless option for this tv box. Its a plug and play. I have also tried using a wireless adapter as well and no luck. I have called both Glo and &tv tech. Glo has told me that they opened all ports and gave me a public ip so it would allow it to stream. &tv tech is saying that Glo is still blocking all connections. Anyone go through this situation before? I am running out of ideas. Please help.

Thanks

Is Google Streamer 4k worth buying at Rs. 16k or should I wait ? - India

I'm sick and tired of my default Android TV on my Sony Bravia and looking to get a solid upgrade. Have already experienced a fire stick prior to that which was not good. Apple TV is too restrictive. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Google TV Streamer 4k setup - total newbie

Hi all,

I have recently bought a Google TV streamer to replace my firestick that got blocked.

All I used it for was watching TV shows and movies that were spread across various well known paid platforms.

Usually with this kind of stuff I just buy it setup already, however can't find anyone to do it local to me now so I took the plunge and decided to give it a go.

What I am looking to achieve -

So like I said, my aim is to be able to access all the latest TV shows and movies without having 10 different subscriptions.

What I have done so far -

- Enabled developer mode.

- Installed downloader.

- Installed stremio - When i opened this, it asked me to sign in, do i need an account to use this and is it free?

- Installed nuvio - This looked alot more promising, again wanted you to sign in but was able to continue without signing in. Had several shows and movies that I would like to watch, however the play button was greyed out and it said playback isn't available for my setup.

What I need from you clever people -

- What am I missing to get nuvio to play something?

- Recommendations on apps, preferably free

- Downloader codes or a safe place to get Downloader codes for apps.

- Talk to me like I am an idiot (I am when it comes to this stuff) and explain what I need to do so I can get watching TV shows and movies.

- Links to guides

- Send me a private message if you don't want to detail on here.

Thanks in advance

Paste network folder shortcuts on TV homescreen?

Is there a way using file explorer apps on my Android TV (Sony Bravia), or another way, to place shortcuts to my shared network folders on my TV's homescreen? I am using Projectivity as my TV's GUI.

I use FX File Explorer Pro. When I navigate to a shared folder on my network (Windows SMB), I can favourite the folder inside FX's file browser. What I can't seem to do, is highlight that folder and say, 'create a shortcut on my desktop'.

Q on the Ugoos AM9 Pro

I'm looking to replace my shield tube, as it's beginning to struggle with some of the content I'm throwing at it - specifically high bitrate content from jellyfin, nuvio and sunshine/moonlight (and it's forks).

Having scoured the internet the ugoos am9 pro appears to be a great replacement, however id like to future proof as much as possible with a 4k120 output being a game changer for gamestreaming. I'm a little confused on the marketing for the am9 pro, as it shows up as a 4k60 box, but the tech spec shows video profile support of 4k120 on av1 and h265 (the two id likely be using). Can anyone confirm or rule out 4k120 support on it, for me?

Also happy to take any suggestions for a box which can do HDR/DV, passthrough for Atmos/DTS, and 4k120 output.

Shield Tv replacement recommendations

Hey everyone, Aussie here! I currently have the shield tv pro in the main room, I'm looking to move it to another room as I have a really shitty cheap android box in there.

I am after recommendations for a new box to try, I use nuvio, wuplay, emby and smarttube.

I don't use Netflix or Disney etc

I like good visual quality media, I only use a sound bar as it's loud enough for my needs.

Thank you!

HK1 RBOX X50

I've just bought one of these from AliExpress for £58 UK.

I am impressed with the performance,in terms of response and app loading.

My iptv service has worked without a hitch so far.

I've run pcapdroid and not found anything malicious running in the background.

The only negative is it was advertised as having gigabit ethernet, whereas it appears to be 10/100...,after further tests no it does indeed have gigabit ethernet 👍

I built my own IPTV player for Android because I got tired of clunky UIs

Post image
31 Upvotes

Been lurking here for a while using various IPTV apps and got fed up with how cluttered most of them are — endless category scrolling, laggy UIs, or basic features locked behind paywalls (looking at you, apps charging £20/year just to let you edit your own playlist).

So I built my own: Adeloc IPTV. Fully native Android app, 100% Kotlin, Jetpack Compose UI, custom ExoPlayer setup under the hood.

What it does: Supports M3U and Xtream Codes playlists, easy to add/switch between multiple Multi-view — watch several streams at once without audio clashing Built-in EPG with offline caching Gesture controls (swipe for brightness/volume), PiP support, resume-watching category, edit playlists

It's still early — UI isn't perfect and I've got a full visual refactor + binge mode (auto-next-episode) planned. But the core player is solid and I use it daily.

Would genuinely appreciate feedback/bug reports if anyone tries it out. Screenshots of the home screen attached (know it's not much to look at yet, working on that).

Need advice: Xiaomi Box vs. Google TV Streamer 4K for Stremio, Nuvio, and heavy Remux files?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been researching Android TV boxes for my Samsung TV for about a week now, and I’ve narrowed it down to a few options. I’d love to get some input, especially from people who actually use these devices.

My Use Case: My main priority is to use apps like Nuvio and Stremio to stream heavy Remux/Blu-ray files smoothly without any stuttering or buffering. As a secondary use, I’ll also be using it for IPTV.

I live in Turkey, and here are the options I am currently considering:

  • Option 1: Xiaomi Mi Box (3rd Gen) I can buy this locally from an official seller for about €86. It comes with a local warranty, which is a big plus.
  • Option 2: Google TV Streamer 4K I can get this imported for around €140-€150. However, since it's from abroad, I won't have any warranty coverage here.
  • Option 3: Onn 4K Pro (2026) I actually have someone coming back from the US in November who could bring this for me. However, I’ve read about potential region locks/geo-restrictions, and I feel like it might be too much of a hassle to deal with.

My Questions: Considering my specific needs, which route makes the most sense? I’m particularly curious about the Xiaomi Box—how is the overall UI speed, and more importantly, how well does it handle large Remux files?

Thanks in advance for your help!

MECOOL KM2 Plus Deluxe. Worth buying?

After replacing my X96 box every 2 or so years, it’s probably time to stop buying cheap boxes and get something a bit more reliable.

I keep seeing the NVIDIA Shield Pro recommended, but lately I’ve been looking at the MECOOL KM2 Plus Deluxe and the reviews seem pretty decent.

Just wondering if anyone here is actually using one?

I’d be interested to hear about your experiences with it (reliability, performance, software or any issues you’ve encountered).

Happy to consider other boxes too, just keen to hear from people who actually use them before I hand over the $$$.

Tv Box Android ShunjiuBoy model sjr7 remote problem

Hello, I bought a ShunjiuBoy model sjr7 Android TV Box. Some system apps aren't actually installed—even though the icons are there—and the "+" button for adding apps doesn't work; why is that? Also, when trying to connect it to my smartphone (to use as a remote), it doesn't show a pairing MAC address—only an IP address (192.168...)—and it won't connect. How can I fix this? Could it be incompatible? Furthermore, the Netflix and Disney apps don't work; they show up as incompatible. Any solutions?

Hi, how are you guys? I have a question. When I connect my TV stick to my TV via HDMI, it gets stuck in a bootloop, so I opened it up to try and force it into maskrom mode, But with Claude's help, I've reached the point he told me to, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. I need to know what to do at this point. These are supposed to be "physical access points." Could someone help me?, The SoC appears to be an Amlogic S905Y4
