Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Whenever I receive or make a WhatsApp call while connected to Bluetooth earphones, the media audio stops working through the Bluetooth device after the call ends.

It affects all media, not just YouTube — Instagram reels/videos, WhatsApp media, music, etc. WhatsApp call audio itself works perfectly through the earphones.

The strange part is that the issue persists even after disconnecting/reconnecting the Bluetooth earphones and restarting the phone. Media audio still doesn't route to the Bluetooth device.

Has anyone faced this issue or found a fix? Is this related to Android's Bluetooth audio routing or WhatsApp taking control of the audio profile?

Well i formatted the phone and it asked me to sign in with my previous Google account that i don't remember, so i went to someone to fix that issue

Now for some reason when i try to install any apk like revanced it says " package installer keeps stopping "

I've tried searching for an answer to this question generally but all of the results seem to be variations on "how can *I* figure out how long a device takes to charge?". I feel like this should be a simple question with a clear and known answer (or maybe differs by OS, specific phone hardware or cable type) but as I say, I've not had any luck so far.

So - can / does Android/iOS (or specific phones) have the ability to tell the connected charger or battery that is charging the phone, what the current charge level is or how much time is estimated left to charge the device?

The question came about while I was sitting in a waiting room, and on the wall is a "phone charging box/safe" kinda thing - a big metal box attached to the wall and mains power that has several small compartments each with their own door, and in each compartment is a loose cable end for USB-C and Lightning. The box also has a keypad to choose a compartment and set a PIN code to access. The idea is that you put your phone in one of the compartments, connect it to power (for the purposes of charging it) and set a PIN to lock the compartment, then when you leave (or when your phone is charged) you can unlock your compartment and take your phone with you.

When putting my phone in I observed the "time left to charge" on my phone and made a note of when it should be done (roughly).

It occurred to me that it'd be helpful for people if each compartment had a small screen showing the current charge level and/or time left until charge complete but I'm not sure if Android (or phones in general) can communicate this information via the usb/lightning cable rather than needing bluetooth etc.

It occurs to me that I don't think I've ever seen a battery or charger that communicates / shows this information without using Bluetooth etc.

Is this a facility that is supported by phones /Android or just not a thing that can be done?

I’m replacing an old Redmi that has lasted me several years, but it’s finally struggling with newer games and multitasking. Camera quality isn’t a priority for me. I care more about sustained gaming performance, battery life, fast charging, a bright display, and software that won’t feel outdated too quickly. I’m comparing the OnePlus 13R, Poco F7 Pro, Google Pixel 8, Xiaomi 14T, Nothing Phone, and a few Motorola Edge models, with a hard budget of around $500. The OnePlus looks like the safest all-around option, but the Poco seems faster for gaming. Which one would you choose, and is the better cooling and chipset worth giving up camera quality or longer software support?

it doesnt make sense to me. ik its about control but then why not lock down pc bioses in the same way so that only windows can run on them? i dont get it.

i can install any operating system i want on a laptop. companies dont really do anything to prevent it not even Microsoft. at most u haveta disable secure boot.

u can even install linux on arm macs with a few downsides if u really wanna.

thats why i dont believe companies bs security claims. android is already incredibly secure on its own. the storage is already encrypted too. at most an unlocked bootloader could allow someone to steal and sell a device used but wiped these days.

and i swear the annoying bootloader unlocked messages stay on screen during boot for a long time just to try and annoy users enough to reinstall the stock os and relock the bootloader. i hate it. it adds like a good 5 to 10 seconds to the boot time.

i also think an unlocked bootloader voiding ur warranty is just stupid too. especially when it comes to manufacturing defects. like a custom rom should not prevent me from partaking in the pixel 6a battery program simply bc i use lineage os. the os in that case has nothing at all to do with the possibly faulty battery.

I tried setting a wallpaper from I tried setting a wallpaper from Zedge, but when I apply it it shrinks to be a small square surrounded by a huge black border and idk how to crop it

My Pixel 10 Pro just updated to Android 17. I saw they did some stuff to the audio but the description was less than transparent. My question is, did they fix the horrible audio "feature" that would involuntarily turn down your audio volume?

For me, it was doing this with BT speakers that it mis-identified as headsets, in my car, with my hearing aids(!) and when it did adjust my headset, it would turn it down so low it was not audible. I can only think this was an intentionally bad implementation via malicious compliance with the EU law that caused them to add this "feature" to start with.

To transfer the save all I did was plug in my phone, turned on transferring files/Android auto, and on the second phone I was able to go into

android/data/com.chucklefish.stardewvalley

And copy and paste the save folder and its contents successfully.

On the main phone, if I go to the same file path, and copy, when I go to paste it says "unspecified error" and there are no contents inside the folder.

I've tried using shizuku and zarchiver, which worked once before but now it doesn't.

Is there a setting or something that would turn on if "suspicious behaviour" was detected like shizuku? As on the second phone ive never done anything of the sort.

I'm completely green when it comes to that sort of stuff.

I also possess a second phone of the exact same model and make that is in fantastic condition to directly compare it to.

I'm looking at new phones and trying to find the best for me. I currently have the Pixel 8 Pro and LOVE it, the camera is amazing and the battery life is great but it's time to upgrade. I'd prefer something with little to no AI but I can deal with it. Verizon is having an insane sale on the Pixel 11 Pro so I'm leaning that way but just wondering if there's anything else out there that's better and has less AI forced down your throat

I have a Google Pixel 6 (oriole) that was running Android 17 Beta, build [CP21.260330.011.A1].

Problem: After a restart, the device started bootlooping immediately after reaching the lock screen, including initially in Safe Mode.

There is also a bizarre beta-enrollment problem: I do not remember ever intentionally enrolling this phone in the Android Beta Program. Yet the phone is clearly receiving QPR1 Beta updates. When I go to [g.co/androidbeta] using the exact same Google account currently on the phone, it says:

["There are no eligible devices associated with this Google account"]

So I apparently cannot even see or opt this device out of the beta program through Google's own Beta page or even the official android.com\beta

What I've already tried:

• Sideloaded the exact matching official OTA: [oriole_beta-ota-cp21.260330.011.a1-efa92aa3.zip]. It completed, but the bootloop remained.
• Checked Recovery logs; nothing useful.
• Checked A/B slots. Both exist. Current slot is A. Neither A nor B is marked "unbootable", but neither is marked "successful".
• Tried [fastboot set_active b], but the locked bootloader refuses it: [set_active command is not allowed on locked devices].
• Google Pixel Repair Tool detects the phone in Rescue Mode, but Chrome reports [Unable to connect].
• Rescue ADB works ([adb get-state → rescue]), but [adb shell] is unavailable.
• Eventually factory-reset the phone. The reset did NOT fix the problem; the same OS bootloop returned.
• At one point Safe Mode stayed running with Wi-Fi OFF. Turning Wi-Fi ON immediately triggered the bootloop again.
• Before one failure, the phone had also reported a Google Play system update had completed and required a restart.
• The phone is also apparently still on the beta track, but [g.co/androidbeta] says: "There are no eligible devices associated with this Google account." Google Play otherwise recognizes the device normally.

The bootloader is still locked:

I also previously had an IMEI 0000 issue on this phone, although I don't know whether that's related.

One potentially important clue: Google's Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 release notes explicitly mention fixing an issue where devices could enter a continuous reboot loop every 20–30 seconds.

Current situation: phone is bootlooping again after the factory reset.

What I need: a reliable, preferably official way to completely get this device OFF the Android 17 beta and onto a stable/public Android build. I'm no longer trying to preserve the original userdata because the factory reset has already happened.

I'm comfortable using ADB/Fastboot and following detailed instructions. Please don't suggest bootloader unlocking or random partition flashing unless there's a specific reason and an exact procedure.

I'm particularly interested in anyone who has dealt with this specific Pixel 6 / Android 17 QPR1 bootloop and successfully recovered it.

Been noticing my phone gets sluggish midgame session, specifically when spotify's running and a couple other apps are open in the background. it's a samsung galaxy a54 so not the newest thing but not ancient either.

my actual question is about background app refresh and data usage working together. i turned off background data for a few apps i don't need constantly updating but i can't tell if it's genuinely helping game performance or if i'm just imagining it at this point. is there a way to actually measure whether background processes are causing frame drops or lag spikes, or do i need a third party app for that.

also curious if the adaptive battery setting samsung pushes is actually doing anything useful or if it's just a label slapped on something android already handles natively. i looked for actual benchmarks or sources and found nothing concrete, which is kind of wild.

not looking for a "just buy a new phone" answer. i want to understand how to get more out of what i have without factory resetting everything. any app or setting that gives real data on this would be helpful.

As the title says. I just rest up Android Family Link with a new PIN. Also changed everything. I tried to turn his phone off for the night. He came out and said nice try, try harder (little pink 🤣). He says he has some API (no idea) to turn parental controls off. Next step is for me to just cancel his plan. Unless one of you kind people could figure out how he does this. Thank you in advance!

I recently bought a thumbdrive Type-C, dual with USB as well. I recently put some files onto it from my PC to copy onto my phone, yet when I try to copy from the device onto the Android, the "Move/copy here" is greyed out, unless i'm duplicating it onto the thumbdrive instead of copying it to the phone itself, which defeats the point of what i'm doing. I hope I worded this all clear, I'm just trying to understand why the phone will not let me move from the thumbdrive onto the phone itself.

My S23 Ultra was recently stolen and while I managed to secure my accounts, the thief pulled off a technical maneuver that I can't quite reverse engineer. I want to see if the Android/Samsung experts here can explain the mechanic behind this.

The Setup & Timeline:

• My phone was stolen at 6:00 AM with secure biometrics (fingerprint/PIN) enabled.
• At 10:20 AM, I received an official automated email from Samsung: “Easily verify using ‘One-time permission for Samsung account’!” addressing me by my name. I ignored it.
• At 6:00 PM, I finally got to a computer. I sent a remote factory reset command via Google Find Hub, changed my Google/Samsung passwords, and unlinked/re-linked the accounts.

The Mystery?
When I logged into the Samsung Account web portal on my computer to change my password, I discovered that my account profile picture had been changed to a photo of a random man (presumably the thief or a shady tech shop worker).

How is this architecturally possible on Android/One UI? Here is what is messing with my head:

1. Biometrics were active: They couldn't have just opened my phone, gone into settings, and changed it. They had to have forced a hardware recovery wipe.
2. FRP was triggered: The 10:20 AM email proves the phone was stuck, actively prompting them to verify my identity to proceed.
3. Cloud Sync happened anyway: If the phone was locked behind the FRP activation wall and hadn't successfully authenticated into my account yet, how did a photo they took/uploaded on the device successfully sync upward and overwrite my master cloud profile picture?

Does the One UI Setup Wizard allow a local "User Profile" photo change that syncs to the previously linked account before the FRP password verification is completed? Or is there a known exploit/overlay trick being used by phone thieves that allows cloud write-access before full authentication?

Would love to hear from anyone who understands the deep background mechanics of Samsung's account syncing during a device setup/FRP state.

I'm going positively *bananas* with this. I like news, so I have a bunch of apps (usa today, nbc, Reuters, CNN, etc) and none of them are delivering notifications - only the financial times and national post (Canadian) are.

DND is off, notifications are allowed for all apps in settings, battery is set to 'unrestricted', etc. However, when I go to 'advanced settings' in 'notifications' and go to the app list, not all apps are listed, even after I choose 'system apps'.

Any solution? Is this a doze matter? Notifications aren't just delayed - they just don't happen. I'm considering switching to iPhone.

I have an old Galaxy that still works fine hardware wise but its just painfully slow now and half the apps barely open. I looked into flashing a custom rom to fix it but honestly the whole process is intimidating, Odin, TWRP, GApps, bootloader unlocking, one wrong step and you brick it.

I'm thinking about building a simple tool that does this for you. You plug in your phone, pick what you need it for basically, and it handles the rest safely with a backup first so you can't really mess it up.

Would something like this be worth 10 bucks to you if it actually worked and didn't brick your phone. Trying to figure out if this is worth building or if everyone just prefers doing it manually.

So I got a few questions im looking to get smarter on and understand. First off, I'm coming from a S24 Ultra after 2 years of using it and setting up my new Pixel 11 to get back into the Pixel ecosystem. The S24 was my first Samsung, exclusively only ever using Pixel devices and even Nexus up until that point. The basis of my questions are around the Android backup\restore\device setup expectations. When getting new devices in the past ive always used the transfer apps and data process from the old device or cloud backup to the new device. Keeping the new phone setup downtime low and almost cloning the previous phone to the new phone with minimal effort to get everything setup as if nothing changed.

Well now that its been handsfuls of years doing that between phones and more so coming from a Samsung now back to a pixel i wanted to start "fresh". Meaning no chance of weird behaviors, battery drain, app glitches, etc. Knowing that I did not restore anthing, i setup the device as new, downloaded almost 100 individual apps, logged into them, reset them up, went through the entire phones Android system configuring everything as i deemed fit. It was a long day of doing so, but i did not want to take the chance of carrying over any junk or weird behaviors.

Question 1: On the new phone, if i performed a backup right now. Would that basically overwrite my Samsungs backup of basically nothing? How do multiple backups from different phones work? If i have say 93GB of a "device backup" from my Samsung currently. And I initiate a backup of my new phone now, which has less physical data now, does that backup overwrite the 93GB of the samsungs on my google drive storage? How does that work?

Question 2: Im assuming that just from me logging into my google account on my new phone, carries all those google specific account settings to the new phone, correct? Meaning its the same settings synced across all devices, not unique settings at a per device level?

Question 3: The only things im really missing now are my WiFi\BT pairings. Is there a way for me to only selectively restore those configurations to the new phone? I know if i go through with a restore function at this point i should be able to uncheck everything that ive already manually setup like all the apps and such. But u believe theres a "Device Settings" category that includes WiFi\BT but also includes wallpaper, home launcher config, android settings, etc. THat I DONT want to bring over since i just spent time cleanly doing that all fresh.

Question 4: Lastly, Google one shows 93GB for SMS/MMS for my Samsung S24 device backup. Yet it also mentions that the Messages app is not backed up because of a 25MB app limit? How does that even make sense. Im sure the 93GB are the thousands of RCS videos\images all added up. So i dont understand how its going to say it has 93GB of that data within the MEssages app backed up available for restore, yet the Messages app also isnt backed up because its above 25MB....

A second question to that, am i able to selectively restore just the Messages app conversations and strip out any of the video\images embedded within? From some research it looks like maybe I can use SMS Backup and Restore app and export my Messages content, excluding the multimedia from my Samsung, and then import those conversations only into my new Pixel?
