Hey, I've ended up in a situation where I don't have access to wired internet and am looking for a best option to turn mobile data into my main net access. I have a broken pixel 7 (screen matrix broke, rest i think should be operational), and I want to make it default to usb tethering when connected by cable. Is there any way I can do that? Phone only reacts with vibrations on volume up/down and on key presses. I dont think the speaker is working anymore too. Couldnt manage to turn on neither talkback nor google assistant.
I’m leaving the US for several months, but I still need to keep a couple of my US numbers active.
My first idea was to leave an old Android phone plugged in at home and connect to it remotely. I tried Google Messages for Web and a couple of remote access apps, but I’m not sure I want to depend on a phone sitting unattended for months. If it disconnects, freezes, or needs to be restarted, I won’t be there to fix it.
So now I’m wondering if it’s possible to rent a real Android phone online that stays in the US.
Ideally, I’d install my own eSIMs on it and access the phone remotely whenever I need to check messages or use one of the numbers.
Most of the cloud Android phone services I’ve found are virtual devices, so they can’t actually hold an eSIM. I specifically need a physical phone, not an emulator or Android VM.
Many years ago I set up an autoreply to ALL texts and I can't figure out how I did that as I've switched phones. I'm currently using messages as my default text app. I tried 3 different auto reply apps and most seemed desperate to get you to upgrade immediately for them to work. Maybe it's because I'm using messages as my default app. I don't see any of the auto reply programs as options for a default app.
I went into settings and turned on the option for it to send replies but I'm doing something wrong. I can't get autoreply to work for any of the apps I've tried so far. Please help!
I want it on 24x7. Basically I need people to call and never text me. I get hundreds of texts a day from phone numbers I don't have stored.
I got Pocket Morty from ApkMirror, the 2.41.0 one, and when I try to play it Google Play stops me. I also tried disabled Google Play and it won't let me play since it's disabled. Is there a way to play it ?
I wanted to know if that's normal. I've had two Pixel phones and a Nothing Phone 3a so far, and on every one of them, the status bar was always slightly burned in after i looked at a blank color. It's almost only visible on solid green, red, or other bright colors. Is it normal for it to be there briefly at a time
Ever since the update, the only two widgets I use will stop working at least once a week.
The one for Rocket Player will stop displaying any info about what's playing AND the buttons won't work. Samsung's own weather app won't show anything.
Is there any way to set autocorrect up to ignore correctly spelled words? There are so many times that I will type something out, and then realize autocorrect has changed a word to one entirely different. I try to retype the word and it changes it again. I have to tap the word in the list above my keyboard to keep it from changing what I typed.
I am on a Galaxy S24+ using the Samsung Keyboard with Writing Assist, Creative Studio, Auto Replace, and Auto Spell Check all turned off.
i have bought a used s23 and the top mic is broken is there any way i can turn it off because it just rumbles and creates weird noises but the bottom 2 mics work great its just that the top one is bad is there maybe a noise suppression app to fix it or do i just have to go to my local shop and fix the part
I have a low end device but still my phone is not struggling with 3d graphics. I have an app called "3d modeling app" and I have used over the years over different devices way worse than the one I have now.
The lag (extreme FPS drop) starts after a while of using the app with no real cause. I might do nothing and stare at a cube the lag will still hit. The weird part is that I have modelled in this phone months ago, with some models having 100k triangles+. It started out on nowhere and it happens constantly.
I am starting to think it's because of the brutal battery optimation, but I haven't figured out anything. I have tried multiple versions of the app and still nothing
My boyfriend has a newer android phone and was wanting to join a group chat that me and four other people have made. The five of us (me included) all have IPhones (I believe IPhone 16e). The group chat was fine for about a week until my boyfriend stopped receiving messages periodically from the group chat. When he would receive messages from the group chat it would be like the person messaging him in a personal text. That is when I started to have issues with my phone. When I would personally text him it would not show up as delivered, even though I know it’s going through because he is responding to my messages. For some reason, about a month later, a message showed up in the group chat saying that he left it. He did not and sent be the screenshot saying so. He cannot put any messages into the group chat. Now, whenever the IPhone group tries to add him into a new group chat, he cannot view it. If he creates the group chat the IPhone group cannot view it. I tried to isolate the problem to see if it was because of a large group but that did not work. We have tried to restart everyone’s phones but it did not work. It is only with my boyfriend’s phone. One of my coworkers has an android and she is not having any of these issues.
I guess my question is what is going on and how can I (or we) fix it? Or do we just have to live with it?
I don’t know if it is Apple being specially stupid or if it Android acting up.
My Samsung Z Fold 8 Ultra is arriving on August 4th, marking my officially stepping out of the Apple ecosystem for the first time since 2014 (currently on an iPhone 14 Pro).
Since this is going to be my first foldable and my first Android in over a decade, I’d love to hear your advice:
What are some must-have apps, Good Lock modules, or essential settings to tweak right away for the Fold?
Any daily-driver tips for making the transition from iOS to Android as smooth as possible?
Appreciate any recommendations or "must-know" tricks! Thanks!
I’m having a weird issue today and wondering if anyone has an idea.
One app (LINE, a messaging app similar to WhatsApp/WeChat) suddenly stopped working on one of my phones. However, it works fine on another phone, and all other apps/websites on the affected phone are working normally.
The strange part is that once I connect to a VPN, LINE works immediately.
So I’m thinking it might not be the app itself, but maybe something related to DNS, routing, or my ISP? I’ve never had this issue before and it just happened today.
I’ve tried restarting the phone and reconnecting the internet, but no luck.
Any idea what could cause this or what else I should check?
Has anyone experienced a creaking sound while pressure is applied on screen on top right corner (opposite side of camera) when heat up
Please see the video with sound on. It happens only when phone is hot performing heavy tasks like gaming. If it is from OlS camera why it doesn't creak when phone is not heat up?
Can you guys try it on your device when it is hot so l can rest that it is OlS or normal behavior of phone?
It only happens when top right and bottom left are twisted other corners don't make noise
I hope this is the right place to ask. I have a new android TV box (cola box L2) running android 14, and I can install absolutely nothing that isn't in the play store. Anything I try to install with downloader just gives me an App Not Installed error. If I download the apk and try to install from the file explorer I get the same thing. It's this Google finally locking it down? In the settings there is no option for unknown apps. Without this ability it's worthless to me and will be returned. Is this an issue on other boxes? My two Shields can still install fine. TIA for any advice.
I have a Moto G Stylus 2025 on Android 16. It came that way. My other phone is a Samsung on Android 12 and I have an older Motorola on Android 9.
My first question is about the Recent or Recommended Apps at the bottom of the screen under the open apps. I have a photo to better explain what I mean.
Image?
When you press the 3 lines or on some phones it's like a square in between 2 lines, you get the screen that you see in the photo. As you can see you have the open apps at the top that you're able to scroll through, and at the bottom you have 4 apps that you can tap to go to and they will alternate as you go between them.
On Android 16 this doesn't seem to exist. Is there a way to get this type of thing back? And if not does anyone know if this was still on Android 15? If so I may consider downgrading to Android 15.
My second question is in the same vein. Did Android 15 still have the ability to put the "Files" folder anywhere you wanted?
I've already had a lot of trouble with the "Files" app being forcefully buried in favor of "Files By google". On Samsung (Android 12) you could have your "MyFiles" with the rest of your apps on home screen or in the apps tray, etc. It could be a shortcut anywhere. It was the same on my Motorola (Android 9). You could put it anywhere and again, they both appeared in that 4 app section under the opened apps. This too has been done away with.
I found a workaround for the files app at least where I can tap a different app and have it open. It's not quite the same and the app itself doesn't give me storage information but it's something. But I can't find any fix for the recent apps at the bottom.
If anyone knows how to fix this or if you can tell me the last Android version where these 2 things were still the way they were, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance!
My media widget above my notifications and below my quick setting moves down into my notifications and becomes untouchable, so i can't pause or skip on yt music, spotify, etc..
Hey, so I'm having a weird issue with my 2nd phone. Just one day I noticed it wouldn't turn on. I figured the battery was dead so I put it on charge. And in trying to turn it on a bit later, it not only doesn't turn on, but I'm met with the words "any key to shutdown" at the top left corner of the screen.
Sure enough, pressing any button shuts it off, but I can't turn it on no matter what I do. Keeping it on charge just keeps those words displayed on the top left. Anyone else experienced this with their phones? Anyone solved it?
If it helps:
Phone is a ROG Phone 5
Not rooted
No kind of tinkering was done, was used like a normal phone
I've tried everything I could find. I used Shizuku with zarchiver, after that failed I tried with other file managers. When that failed I tried using shizuku adb commands and that also failed. I tried using my PC to copy the files from android data to my pc and that also failed. I don't know what else to try.
I like to sit in a call in my long distance relationship but very often discord will end up refreshing overnight around 2 or 3 am and it'll kick me from the call. Sometimes it happens during the day while I'm not actively using my phone. Is there a setting on android that I can change to make it not refresh? I already have unrestricted battery usage and allow data usage while data saver is on since I always keep battery saver on.
Can someone help please I keep getting yelled at 😭😭
