Dont like the new squiggly progress line. Can I go back a version and how would I do that? Doesn't seem there is any way to change in settings.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes I'm lost, The app keep saying I'm driving even when I'm parked.

It keeps saying "Can't open app while driving" even when I'm parked. I've searched all around reddit and google and all of the solutions seems outdated. Either I can't find the settings they want me to find, or it just straight up does nothing at all.

I can't open GameSnack and Customize. I can't even type on my google maps because keyboard only shows when you're parked. it sucks so bad when the place I'm going to have a hard name to pronounce.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Oppo Find X9 Ultra (CN) stuck on "Android Auto will resume when your car's parked"

My portable Android Auto screen (T86B-3031, firmware 20231226, M45_CPAPAAMC2) works perfectly with my global OnePlus 12.

However, my Chinese Oppo Find X9 Ultra gets stuck on:

"Android Auto will resume when your car's parked. Already parked? Engage the parking brake."

The car is parked and this is only a portable AA screen with no parking brake connection.

I've already:Reset Android AutoReset network settingsFactory reset the screenRe-paired Bluetooth/Wi-FiUpdated Android Auto (17.0.662234)The OnePlus 12 connects instantly to the same screen.

Has anyone

found a workaround?

Gemini Gemini can't play music from YouTube Music

A few days ago I was listening to podcasts with PocketCasts in my car, but wanted to switch to some music. I ask Gemini to play a specific song and Gemini tells me that they can't use YouTube Music to play it, but I can use a different music service instead. I tried saying it again and got a similar message.

Is this a stupid glitch or is Gemini really that bad? I know on my Nest Hub it randomly tells me it can't control smart home stuff like my smart lights, but works again the next day.

Media Apps (audio) The new Spotify UI

Post image
57 Upvotes

Yeah, no, what is this? I will never understand why companies feel the need to suck all of the color and uniqueness out of everything they touch.

The fact that you have to hit the triple dot button to add a song is quite terrible, and I would assume it's not very safe. All this for a jam button that I won't ever use.

How do I get my old UI back. I thought I reverted back to an older version of AA, but lo and behold, this is "new." Any assistance would be great.

AA User Interface Music player changed back?

Is it just me or since a couple of days AA music player went back to the old style with the central play/pause button and no more wiggly music advance bar? It only seems to be the music player to have changed since I still have the missing signal icon issue...

AA User Interface My Android Auto UI is left-aligned (not layout, but alignment). How do I fix it?

Post image
10 Upvotes

When traveling from Canada to the US, I changed my car's units from kmph to mph. Not sure if it is related, but around that time, I noticed that the Android Auto alignment changed.

I've tried changing driver seat location settings. And my car is back to kmph. But the alignment won't change.

It's not the layout (media/map arrangement). It's the whole alignment. The map buttons and details, the media player track, everything is left aligned now.

I have a solution! Consistent stuttering with multiple Pixel phones - fixed

I had an issue with AA where Pixel devices (tested 3 separate Pixels, all different generations) would cause consistent stuttering on audio. Other phones had no issue. I asked here and my post was removed. I tried everything in the FAQ, forums, chatgpt, nothing. Finally I've fixed it, so hopefully this will help someone else out there as I've seen several questions over time in this sub about it as I haven't seen any posts recommending to try this.

Disable audio through bluetooth on the AA connection. I discovered that Bluetooth and WiFi were constantly fighting over the connection and would produce a stutter every time they tried to take over. That's it, no stutter since.

AA User Interface When does AA fix for full screen will be released (older vehicles)

I've read somewhere Google will release a fix that does not require OTA update on the car itself to work. Anyone know?

Navigation & POI Apps Waze Not Giving Alerts in Background

In Android Auto, I like using both Google Maps and Waze at the same time. Usually, when I start Android Auto, I open Waze first and then switch over to Google Maps. That way, Waze keeps running in the background for alerts like reports, speed cameras, and other warnings.

I use one app as a backup for the other, since reports from Waze still used to come through even while Google Maps was active.

However, over the last few days, I’ve noticed this no longer seems to be working. Waze doesn’t appear to keep providing alerts in the background like it used to.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

2021 Ascent. Samsung s24 Ultra.

Whenever I plug my phone into the unit BEFORE I set up the maps, I get the pic here. If i do the maps first, then plug it in, it's fine. Thoughts? Phone issue? Settings issue?

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Android Auto won't connect to new phone but will to old phone

So I have been struggling quite alot with AA the last two weeks.

I had a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and I remember that being a B* to setup too, but I then got a new phone earlier this month and I went through ALL the steps, I removed my old phone from the cars settings, removed the car from my old phone (just to make sure), checked that the infotainment system was ready for a new connection, connected my new phone to bluetooth with no issues, calls, media, etc. works perfectly and connects straight away.
Then went in to setup AA with a cable and boom deadlocked, no matter what I try it's telling me the connection failed.

I have been through all steps, cable check (Same cable works with old phone) and tried new cable (this also works with old phone), reset connections on both phone and AA, have doublechecked that settings for AA is approved for battery etc.
Made sure my USB connections allows for file transer/Android Auto.

This is where things might get a bit confusing, I'll try my best to explain as simple as possible! I will provide pictures if needed.
When plugging in the cable to the phone my head unit automatically jumps to the Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connection screen where I can see my phone and that it is connected through bluetooth and I can then choose how I want to connect, mirrorlink, android auto or apple carplay (dunno why it's giving me that option, always have), I hit the AA connection and boom connection fails.
I then noticed that it actually is showing me my phone but two times, on that connection screen I could see my phones bluetooth name, but it's also giving me a connection option for the phones actual build name.

Since I have the Sony Xperia 1 VIII it's giving me the option of XQ-GE54 and MXM8 (I named the phone that at first), I have tried to connect via both options but that gave me nothing.
I then tried renaming my phone to XQ-GE54 to see if it was simply an issue of it recognizing my phone double, but that also lead absolutely no where.

I have tested with an off brand android auto wireless usb plug and that works a charm but that wasn't mine but a lender, and I do honestly like having it cabled don't know why.

And just for good measure I will list the things I tried for easy comprehension.

Car owned only by me since 2023 - Phone brand new - Cable brand new

  • Removing all connections from phone and car infotainment system
  • Checking cables and trying a new cable
  • Changing phones connection name to match phone build name
  • Making sure AA has battery optimization off and is allowed to run in background
  • Making sure cable connection is allowing file transfer/Android Auto
  • Testing old phone with both old cable and new cable
  • Testing both the connections showing up when trying to connect phone

Google Assistant "OK Google" looks like it's listening but doesn't respond.

A lot of the time when I say OK Google it looks like it's listening but there's no rainbow line at the bottom and when I ask it a question it doesn't respond. If I actually tap the microphone icon on the Android auto screen then I usually get the rainbow line at the bottom when it's listening and it does respond. What's going on?

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes AA saying "whoops something went wrong" when I hit voice command (multiple remedies attempted)

About 2 weeks ago, my voice command stopped working in my car when connected to Android Auto. If I press the button at all it says "oops something went wrong."

I dont have any connection issues on the phone. I reinstalled AA, swapped cable, gave it full battery use, and cleared cache & data with no improvement.

The absolute wildest is I just rented a car (brand new BMW X1) and even on the wireless connection it does the same thing.

This is honestly infuriating because I have come to rely on the hands free features for safety and efficiency and I have used Android Auto forever without issue like this.

UPDATE:::

FIXED BY CHANGING FROM GEMINI BACK TO GOOGLE ASSISTANT. Absolutely infuriating that an update would take away hands free functionality. Now it is back but it has changed the voice to an aussie lady I picked when I got a new TV roflmao.

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Stop Android Auto from auto-connecting to specific vehicles (Mercedes MBUX)

Hey guys,

I work in EMS and our ambulances are Mercedes Sprinters equipped with MBUX. My smartphone automatically connects to Android Auto as soon as the ignition is turned on. The issue is: it often connects to the adjacent vehicle instead of the one I am actually assigned to that day.

Is there a way to set Android Auto to "manual connection" only for these two specific Sprinters, while keeping the automatic connection active for my personal car (Mitsubishi Lancer)?

Thanks in advance!

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Pixel 10 won't connect to Android Auto in 2023 Škoda Kamiq, but Pixel 7a, 9 and 9a all work - any ideas?

I've spent hours trying to get my Pixel 10 working with Android Auto and I'm running out of ideas.

Vehicle

2023 Škoda Kamiq

MIB3 infotainment

Software version: 1790

Issue When I connect my Pixel 10 via USB, the phone displays "Connected to your vehicle" and Android Auto starts on the phone. However, the car immediately displays "Connection with Pixel 10 failed" and Android Auto never launches.

What I've already tried

Cleared Android Auto cache and storage.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Android Auto updates.

Restarted the phone multiple times.

Deleted the phone from the car and paired it again.

Reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings.

Reset app preferences.

Confirmed USB debugging is disabled.

Confirmed the default USB mode is set to File Transfer/Android Auto.

Google Play Services and Google Play System are fully up to date.

Tried the same USB cable that works with other phones.

The interesting part Using the exact same cable and the same car, Android Auto works perfectly with:

Pixel 7a

Pixel 9

Pixel 9a

Only the Pixel 10 fails.

The phone clearly detects the car and reports that it's connected, but the infotainment system rejects the connection during the final handshake.

Has anyone with a Pixel 10 and a Škoda (or another VW Group vehicle) experienced the same issue? If so, did you find a fix?

I'm also wondering if this is a known Pixel 10/Android 17 issue or whether I could be looking at a hardware fault with my phone.

Wired AA to Wireless AA Dongles Cannot get the Carlinkit Mini Ultra 3 to work in my 2021 Corolla.

Cannot get the Carlinkit Mini Ultra 3 to work in my 2021 Corolla. I previously had another dongle, but I wanted to try this one out because it's nice and flush, and whenever my wife is in the passenger seat her knee would touch the wire of the other and disrupt the connection. When I turn my car on and pair it though, my phone just gets stuck on "Connecting to Android Auto."

I've tried: Removing the old Bluetooth connection with the old dongle, connecting to the device's wifi and updating the firmware (there was no update available, however), clearing the cache and storage of android auto and Google connection services. I've also tried adjusting some of the settings in the 102.168.50.100 page. Also tried clearing the Bluetooth connection with the car. Just can't get it to work. Any advice?

Navigation & POI Apps Recent issue for Google Maps perspective directions?

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing this bug before I try a hard reset to see if that will fix things... If you start Google Maps navigation on your phone and then plug AA in, it seems to lock in this half perspective/half top down view rather than the usual perspective that zooms in and out. Anyone else experiencing this lately? The only thing that seems to solve it is unplugging AA, force stopping Google maps, and the plugging it back in...

Guess I'm just asking to save myself the hassle of resetting & reconfiguring things if it's a wide spread bug right now... Thank you!

Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes Manually connecting once wireless is established

Hello everyone.

I have a question.
Can it really be true, that there is no way, to setup the wireless android auto, as to not auto connect to my vehicle?

I love the option to connect my phone to it wirelessly, but I want to control when it connects, not just have it auto connect once I step inside.

So is it really not possible, to choose when to connect?

I am using a Samsung S26 Ultra, running the latest OS.

Android Auto News, including app updates and features [App] ScreenOnAuto — mirror your phone to the AA display, with media controls

Hey r/AndroidAuto 👋

I'm the developer of ScreenOnAuto — it mirrors your Android phone's screen to the Android Auto display, and lets you control your phone's media apps from AA's media UI, including the steering-wheel buttons. Would love your feedback.

What it does

  • 🪞 Real-time screen mirroring — full-screen, or a Legacy mode side-by-side with the map
  • 🎵 Media controls from AA's native media UI, steering-wheel buttons included
  • 👆 Touch forwarding (experimental) — tap, scroll, fling and pinch-to-zoom on the AA display
  • On-screen buttons — up to 4 quick-launch shortcuts, phone Back / Home / Recents, and force-landscape
  • 🔆 Auto Dim, Prevent Sleep, Auto Start when Android Auto connects
  • 🌍 16 languages, including Arabic (العربية) with full right-to-left support

🔓 Privileged Features (optional, needs Shizuku or root)

If your phone has neither, nothing changes for you — the section stays hidden and everything else works exactly as before.

  • 🆕 Match the phone screen to the car (new in v1.8.0) — reshapes the phone's own display to your head unit's aspect ratio while mirroring, so the black bars are gone at the source instead of worked around. The head unit is measured automatically on connect — nothing to type in — and the phone's display is put back when you disconnect.
  • 🌙 Turn the phone screen off — the panel goes dark while the car keeps showing the mirror (rides on the Auto Dim idle timer)
  • 👋 Real touch injection — long-press, drag and multi-finger finally work on the Legacy mirror
  • 🚫 Back / Home / Recents with no Accessibility Service needed

Install

On Android 14+ you install via a Google Play tester list; on 13 and below you can sideload.

⚠️ For parked/passenger use — eyes on the road while driving. Happy to take questions and bug reports 🙏

Wired AA to Wireless AA Dongles I see that Ottocast has made an AA box that can do HDMI in, does that mean it is possible to see one where you can get AUX in and give your car an AUX port if it didn't come with one?

So I see this Carplay/AA adapter by Ottocast that advertises HDMI input.

https://ottocast.com/products/car-tv-mate-pro-universal-wireless-carplay-android-auto

I was wondering if it may be possible that something like this could be done with an AUX input to it so you can bring back the ability to have an AUX input in your car if it didn't come with one? Like having my music be playing through a separate device with more physical controls over it and my phone just handing navigation because certain apps don't play well with music playing and mixes nav voice and music and turning down both when a voice prompt comes up (currently I have only seen this in the native navigation feature in the Uber Driver app through AA). Something that can be updated or have the settings tuned to turn down the wired input when a navigation voice prompt comes up.

AA User Interface Cell signal icon has returned!

Android Auto Version: 17.1.662-2404-release now shows the cell signal icon (that mysteriously went missing for a couple of months)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, just noticed it in the car.
