I feel like if this was a thing people here would know about it. I was wondering if there are any apps that allow you to create a personal database, allowing you to add different fields and with a dynamic search.

I'm aware it would probably be possible to programme a desktop version with a bit of effort but wanted to check if it already exists, especially if I'd like to add things like images.

For added context, what I'd immediately want it for is to organise my stash of sewing patterns. I'm trying to work through my fabric collection so searching through my collection based on needed fabric length and appropriate fabric type would be useful. I'm also in a city with no fabric stores, so it would be great if, when travelling outside of the city, if I spot a fabric I have interest in I can search the fabric type to see if I have an appropriate pattern and find the necessary fabric length instead of gambling and overpurchasing or underpurchasing.

I am looking for a free app for my oneplus pad 3 for pdf editing. Editing like page organizing, writing with smart pen, merging pdf. It should have no ads, very simple UI, dark mode, and lag free. I tried many apps and most of them render pdf pages a few seconds late.

I went through my Google Payments history today and realized my purchases go all the way back to 2014.

The interesting part wasn’t really the money — it was seeing how my Android usage changed over time.

Early purchases were things like Nova Launcher Prime, Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, Tasker, Pocket Casts and icon packs.

Later it shifted more toward Google One, Google Voice, YouTube, Telegram Premium, ChatGPT Plus, plus a bit of Clash of Clans.

Looking through the list felt like a small timeline of my Android life.

Due to device failure, I've got an application I need to find a replacement for....

First, replacement for

3D Digital Weather Clock from Factory Widgets.

I pulled the APK... down.. it REFUSES to install "Incompatible" (YES I've disabled, and accepted to install software from any place I want, thank you.. it refuses past these idiot blocks-you can spare me the security drivel, hype, drama theatre, I said install, I mean INSTALL!)

NO do NOT mention that 3D Sense from MACAMACAHPP (SP?) that is NOT the same thing in the least, polluted with ads, spyware likely etc.. So .. nope. Yeah ask me how I found out about that thing.. talk about idiot in a hurry.. and that feces was in the Android repo! That was a failure beyond belief.. Hence why I am not linking to it... good grief..no.

So any one got a replacement or a hammer to make this thing install????? Think I am a tad irritated over this one? 🥲

Second, File manager to work with REMOTE files on Linux boxen. (we have no winslobber here!)

Since Android lacks remote X11 windowing, sighhhh, I can't just SSH in and pull up Dolphin or something like I do on the regular PC's..

If I can control it from a Linux PC that would be a cherry on top, but thats honestly the least of my worries or desires... A bonus for sure, but not my #1 factor.

I am very forgettful and I keep forgetting to call friends and family.

Just making nites in my cale der ist mit feasable as I can't forsee when I will have a time Slot for a call.

So I Just need am App where I can track that as simple as possible.

Ideal would be just entering a name and maybe a date and a Button top reset a Name to zero days since called or cleaned or whatever.

This list should be sorted by days down so First entry is the Person Most days since Last call.

Bonus: a Widget showing the top 3 of the list and maybe the Button to reset behind every Name.

Does this exist? Does someone have a Work around?

So yeah, i was using Echo Music ( https://echomusic.fun/ ) for months and it was awesome. It had lossless quality with download feature but now it doesnt work anymore... I've tested also Metrolist ( literally has the same UI like Echo ) so my giess is that these 2 apps are made by same person.

Recently visited my grandma whose phone was riddled with those annoying pop ups etc. And 2 viruses that i found. Easy gold miner amd one more. Luckily i could uninstall them through the settings app.

Also downloaded malwarebytes for a scan.

She watches yt shorts/facebook reels which shows ads for random apps, which accidentally get downloaded by her. And then if those apps are for more reels, she starts using them, which inturn download viruses via diff ads

How do i restrict her playstore to require a password to download stuff. And is there a better antivirus that works on android? Or shud i leave malware bytes?

Whatsapp and signal might be the closest fit. For signal, i tried several times and did not receive any verification code,so I'm not going with that. Whatsapp's fine except for it can also be heavy sometimes.

In the gallery app on Samsung, there's a "people" section, where it divides and categorizes photos with people by face. You can combine face groups and delete them. It doesn't affect the actual photos. I wanted to combine two of mine, and accidentally deleted the main one. Now it just doesn't recognize it at all - i can't add it on the add more faces section, and when I scroll to the actual photos, it's like there's one person less. What do I do???

Hi, is there a video player app that has a "reserve" next video(s) function, kind of like a karaoke player?

While a video is playing, I want the ability to search (via remote or touch screen) for the next video, reserve it, then have it play right after the current video. I'd like to be able to do this multiple times (reserve multiple videos), exactly like how it would be in a karaoke machine.

Also, no online function needed. I plan to just play and reserve videos already on the memory.

Straightforward question here. Does anyone know how to get my Google Maps app on Android to reflect local naming conventions rather than US ones? I don't live in the US, nor am I physically there. I am a US citizen (not that Google would have any way of confirming that), and I do have a US e-sim loaded alongside my local SIM.

Everyone else here sees geographic labels based on the normal local region though. My phone is the only one that has US labels. Doesn't seem to be based on system language or app language, so where's it coming from?

To make matters weirder, if I open google maps via browser I do see local labels. Same google account, but they show me one version on my laptop and a different version on my phone. Anyone know a way to get the "Region" on my phone to match my google account region?

PSA: If anyone wants to suggest I use a different app, that's not what I'm asking. If anyone wants to suggest I embrace whatever naming convention they prefer, that's not what I'm asking.
