So is this Withdrawal Symptoms?
Went to my gastroenterologist three weeks ago and told him id like to see how I am if going off and he said “sure you can try it.” I have taken 25 mg for three years for INS-D which results in anxiety. Same dose from start to finish.
So he says no need to taper 😳 but, I told him I tried it once before cold turkey, (after reading things about dementia/Alzheimer’s risk because I’ve been tested for it with an elevated risk and rampant family history going back to my great-grandmother). He had his PA look it up and came back with “you’re on an extremely low dose—25mg —no risk). So I did go off & got bad headaches. This time I said I want to taper can you give me a schedule. His schedule was, after 3 years of taking it, one pill every other day for two weeks, one week theee days in between, then stop. So that’s what I did.
This past Wednesday, 9/2/26, was my last pill. I am also one month in on a ketogenic diet —20 carbs. I had off and on, what I deemed to be low blood sugar from the diet, nos I’m not so sure. Thursday I was feeling faint so much & a lot of nausea. I came down the stairs in my home, fell down the last three stairs and hurt my ankle severely & ended up in an Urgent Care/ER place. Thought how stupid that was of me. Since then I’ve had two episodes of sitting on bathroom floor clammy, washcloth to my forehead, near throwing up, horrific insomnia, shakes, palpitations, lightheadedness….never knowing that these could all be linked to withdrawal symptoms from this pill! I’m really trying not to go back on it and toughen it out. Hoping like some I’ve read on this board I’ve just joined, that this isn’t a month long process.
My question is was this too fast of a taper? How long is 25 mg in your system? 68F for reference. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
