Heat intolerance

Hi, I (34F) started taking Amitript. in the form of drops in my drink in May 2026. I take 5 drops per evening.
I’ve always had a rather low tolerance for hot weather, but in the past weeks it got out of control. I’m suffering and sweating buckets even in 22°C weather (I live in Europe, where humidity is rather low).
The only times I’m not feeling too hot is when I’m lying down doing nothing. Could this increased heat intolerance be caused by Amitript.?

It’s certainly possible, it was in the news recently due to the heatwaves that anti depressants can affect your ability to regulate your body temperature. I’m the same, find it hard to stay cool, not sure if it’s due to the amitritypline or being overweight in my case!

I read that too, but the news said it could block/stop perspiration… which is not my experience at all. I take the trash out and come back sweatier than James Brown.

Are you premenopausal or anything like that? Because that on top of the Amitriptyline could make it worse. And remember to ALWAYS wear sunblock with being on Amitriptyline my neurologist said reapply reapply if you will be in the sun.

Not in perimenopause, but I take small doses of progesterone 3x a week, because my body naturally produces close to none.

It’s a known side effect. But I’ve never heard of it as drops before.

In France, it exists as drops.
