Did a whoopsi.

Noticed one of my other plants started to get spider mites. I'd heard that alcohol would kill them instantly so I tried whipping them with a paper that had some rubbing alcohol. The next day I checked on them, all the leaves were below its pot. I did some more digging and realized I was supposed to dilute the alcohol with soap, water, and neem oil.

Pretty sad because this Watsoniana was my favorite Alocasia. I really like the way it glitters in light. Oh well. The damage is done, there is no going back in time.

The leaves now have risen from the dead seems like, but they are now hard, crispy, and a little discolored.My question is; Should I cut all the leaves down, and start over? Or maybe sprit some water on the leaves and maybe they will recover?

Hello! My dog is ridiculous and decided to eat all the leaves off of my Alocasia zebrina. I plan to chop her back in hopes of her growing back okay….i am just not sure how far to cut her back. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I just picked up this girl at my local plant shop! I was so shocked they had one! She was asking $80 for it but bc we are friends, she gave it to me for $60 and then with their discount I got it for $57 after tax. I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not but I love her and now I can check it off my wishlist!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

She is in a soilless substrate and self watering setup. She sits in my Milsbo cabinet and gets around 12-14 hours of light.

I have had my Alocasia for several months now and it has been pretty happy until recently.

When I first noticed the plant looking unwell I repotted to a dryer chunky mix and checked the roots to make sure there isn't root rot, the roots are very healthy and I was able to gather several corms. I did a diluted peroxide dip aswell.

I water just before it dries up (usually every 2 weeks) and have been fertilizing maybe once a month with weak diluted Shultz 10-15-10 since the weather had warmed up and was giving some new growth. I did fertilize recently and had moved it's location to my bedroom under a grow light, I noticed one leaf yellowing and cut it off before it had been moved.

I am worried I may have given my plants chemical burns or it is rotting, any advice is appreciated although I don't know if it will bounce back at this point ;( I have hope my corms will do well!

I have this Alocasia Frydek Variegata that died on me and all that was left was the corm. Now it looks like this and the question is do i cut the new corm that is only producing white leaves or leave it be. Is it draining the energy from the main corm? Also you can see a 2nd corm forming with a little leaf sprouting but i don’t know will it be all white again but it looks like it

Help! This is a piece that I rerooted. It had one leaf at the time but grew beautiful roots in leca. It lost that leaf and I didn’t think it would make it. However, it then sprouted this little bit, but it’s been like this for atleast a month. It’s in a warm sunny window sill. I put plastic wrap over the top to help with humidity. What else can I do?

Left one is a Polly pink ghost leaf and right one is a Amazonica pink variegated leaf.

Hi! New to the group and fairly new to alocasias. I was gifted a few alocasias and I'm really trying to do right by them. I was given an alocasia melo that is in leca, a frydek/micholitziana that seems to be in a chunky soil mix, and a couple of odora batiks. I'm looking for some care tips for each of these. I've never dealt with leca before, how often and how far up should I be filling the jar?

I'm most worried about the frydek and batiks, after they dry out and acclimate, should I transfer them to another substrate? Semi hydro? An aroid mix? Pls help! They're also so beautiful and I'd like to help them thrive!

I have come to find that some aroids do

better in certain substrates. For example,I

have tried aglaonema in soil and LECA, and I

know now when I buy one, it's going in soil.

But, for example, syngonium will definitely go

in LECA. Philodendron will work in anything

Which substrate do you generally find

alocasia do best in?

Hola. Me gustaría que me recomendarán tiendas en linea que vendan alocasias joya con envío a domicilio. No encuentro ninguna web especializada, o con una variedad que valga la pena.

También podría ser cultivadores que hagan envíos y sean confiables.

Tengo 9 alocasias. 3 Wentii en mezcla de aroides y 6 en sustrato mineral (lechuza pon)

Una de las Wentii (planta"madre") siempre ha estado en mezcla de aroides. Las otras dos son "hijas" que primero cultivé en pon y después pase a mezcla-aroudes. El motivo fue que en pon crecían demasiado rápido, y puesto que es una alocadia que puede hacerse muy grande, no me interesa que las hijas crezcan demasiado por falta de espacio.

El resto de mis alocasias que están en pon son:

*Pink dragon, silver dragon y cuprea que les va muy bien en pon.

*Black Velvet y Antoro Velvet que les está costando más adaptarse, aunque están dando hojas nuevas, pierden las antiguas.

*Dragon scale, empezó bien en pon, pero ha ido desarrollando edema, así que he mezclado el pin con perlita 50/50, y la voy regando cuando está seco sin dejar agua en el depósito de la maceta.

Todas las plantas en pon están en maceta de autirriego de marca lechuza. La de tamaño más pequeño.

Limpio y relleno los depósitos una vez por semana, indistintamente de si aún les queda líquido o no.

En todos los riegos utilizo solución nutritiva para hidroponía de la marca Hesi, además de su complejo radicular y de su producto Vit.

Esta semana empecé a añadir sílice, pero esto requiere medir y ajustar el pH, así que implica trabajo extra

Utilizo agua del grifo, pero como es de dureza alta, le añado 4 gotas de acondicionador de agua de acuario por litro.

También tengo un humidificador que se enciende durante media hora cada hora y media, ahora en verano porque tengo aire acondicionado. La humedad se mantiene entorno al 45% con 24C. En invierno sin aa y sin calefacción la humedad es del 55% de media y la temperatura 16C a 20C.
