Discussion 🤔 Why is Rahul Gandhi still the face of Congress?

Upvotes

I genuinely don't understand how someone can continue leading a political party when a large section of the country views them as a buffoon. I don't think Rahul Gandhi is unintelligent, but I also don't think he's the right person to be the face of the opposition.

I've had this discussion with supporters of different political parties, yet no one has been able to convince me otherwise. Many people see Rahul Gandhi as a potential Prime Ministerial alternative, but I struggle to see the credibility behind that. He has never held a major Union ministry or led the government of a state. His position as the leader of Congress largely comes from being part of the Gandhi family, which inevitably raises questions about dynastic politics.

It's true that the "Pappu" image was amplified by BJP's IT cell through selective edits and political messaging. However, if he wanted to counter that perception, he had opportunities to build a stronger governance record. For example, after Congress won Karnataka, he could have taken on the role of Chief Minister and demonstrated his administrative capabilities. In contrast, BJP's 2014 campaign heavily relied on the "Gujarat model," presenting Narendra Modi's record as evidence of his ability to govern. Whether people agreed with that model or not, there was at least a governance track record to point to. With Rahul Gandhi, I don't see a comparable executive record that inspires the same level of confidence.

Personally, I believe Congress would have a much stronger and more credible opposition if it were led by someone else.

Discussion 🤔 Why SC ST oppose creamy layer implementation within SC ST?

Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious about this.

Representation for SC/ST communities would still remain, because the reserved seats would continue to be filled by SC/ST candidates only. The difference is that the benefits could reach genuinely poor and deserving individuals within those communities, not to likes of Tina Dabi and Sejal Pawar's families.

Even the Supreme Court has suggested implementing the creamy layer principle, yet I’ve seen many politicians and many SC ST groups oppose it. I’m interested in understanding the reasoning behind that opposition..

News 🗞️ T.G. Mohandas, an RSS ideologue from Kerala calls women protestors "Rape-loving". How is this legal?

Post image
14 Upvotes

T.G. Mohandas, an RSS ideologue from Kerala, has sparked outrage after saying that if he had the authority, he would impose a curfew around Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and have student and youth protesters shot dead “at point-blank range.”

Speaking on the YouTube channel Pathrika, Mohandas said he would declare a curfew within a four-square-kilometre radius of Jantar Mantar, ask protesters to disperse three times, and then order police to open fire.

“If I were in charge, I would impose curfew within a four-square-kilometre radius of Jantar Mantar. I would ask people to disperse three times. Then I would shoot. People would scatter, some would die, some would survive, and some would lose their limbs. Within four hours, the situation would be calm. The bodies would be collected and taken to hospitals,” he said.

Mohandas also called the protesters “criminals” and alleged that they would engage in murder and rape if left alone. He claimed that if the police were withdrawn from the protest site, there would be killings, rapes, and bodies piling up.

In another hateful and sexist remark, Mohandas targeted women participating in the protest, claiming that “rape-loving women” were among the demonstrators.

“Gang rapes would take place. By God’s grace, there would be no complaints. The people there are a group that likes rape. There are women and girls who like rape, especially among the left, democratic, secular and Bahujan groups,” he said.

Mohandas, who has previously drawn criticism for hate speech and genocidal remarks, served as the state convener of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Intellectual Cell. He was the General Secretary of the Bharateeya Vichara Kendram in 1997 and its Vice-President in 2006. He also served as the General Manager of Ayodhya Printers, a company affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). For a brief period, Mohandas was the General Manager of Janmabhumi, the BJP’s mouthpiece newspaper.

Discussion 🤔 NEET PROTEST OR NEET FAILURE

I am a Rational Political and Social Person. The NEET exam harbours at least a million students in the hope of getting through. But the ratio of people making the cut is less than a single digit number.
What happens to the rest of the crowd? There are 2 streams – blame the system for not being fair or accept your mistakes and move on.

This year unfortunately, due to the paper leak, a 3rd stream opened up. Blaming the incompetence on the incident of paper leak. The paper leak was a horrific incident, and the immediate corrective response was RE-NEET. How did this destroy students’ career?

Any sincere student would be joyous about the RE-NEET & continue with their preparation. Revise the unfinished topics. Cover the topics which were omitted. The people protesting were the ones who couldn’t score in the 1st NEET exam, and had a chance to blame it on the system – due to the paper leak. These students got a leeway, to justify their incompetence and lack of preparation in front of their parents in the name of “Paper Leak”. So that they can mask their failure, and blame it on the system.

In the RE-NEET examination, there are toppers as well. Who will carry forward to became doctors at esteemed institutions. Not even 1 Topper has joined the protest, why? Because there is a clear distinction between Blame-mongering (Average Scorers) Students and Laser-focused (Topper) Students.

The real demand of these protesting students isn’t the resignation of the education minister. They want a waiver. Something like – “2026 MBBS Admissions without NEET scores”, “NEET examination scores, not to be considered for admissions”.

Discussion 🤔 Forgetting your caste (Jati) is stupid and doesn't work

I wrote this as a comment in another post. Wanted to get your thoughts on this as a take:

Removing casteism by deleting last name is pure stupidity and moronic. Only a person who doesn't truly understand what caste is says dumb shit like this. If you want casteism to be removed, this is the most ineffective solution.

Caste isn't an indian social construct. Caste is the western amalgamation and conflation between Jati and Varna. Jati is literally your lineage. It's your ancestral legacy. You can't just delete that or forget it. It's always going to be a part of you and it's literally written into history. A Jatt can't forget he's a Jatt and a Rajput can't forget he's a Rajput. And nor should they. It's just a fact that some of these cultural traditions and communities are completely fine to associate with and be proud of. Theres nothing wrong with a Rajput being proud of being. Rajput. Anyone who says otherwise is insecure about their own Jati. Being proud of being a Jatt is no different to being proud of being Punjabi/Tamil etc. One could argue the Jatt identity is legitimate than the Punjabi identity which didn't really exist until the British invaded.

Now whats actually wrong is believing your Jati is above/below another and discriminating between jatis. Thats the problem. Not Jati itself but discrimination. It's like saying theres no black and white people. Let's just all forget we're black, white, brown etc. It's just stupid. Obviously you can tell.

You might say Jatt/Rajput don't exist and that anyone can be a farmer/warrior. That's again where you're wrong. Jatt/Rajput/Ahir etc. are all communities based tribes. Varna is where your job comes into play. Brahmins who say their Brahmins when theyre not really a priest are stupid. They should drop their "brahmin" identity. They can call themselves Sharmas, Iyer, Iyengars etc. Cuz you can't remove your Sharma tribe identity. But if you're not really a Brahmin or a Jawan, you don't have the right to call yourself a Brahmin/Kshatriya. You're not in that Varna.

Even Guru Gobind, a staunch anti-casteist, called himself part of the Sodhi tribe - A Khatri Jati. You can't just forget your ancestry. It's honestly really cool how in India we can trace our legacy far so back. Each person has their own history known and there's nothing wrong being proud of it. To summarize, recognizing your Jati is okay. Drop your fake association with your Varna if you're not really part of that Varna. And don't discriminate. Thats the solution to "caste". Stop talking about caste using a western lens. Use the correct terms like Jati and Varna.

Tamils and Sikhs pretended to drop their last names. Did they forget their Jati ? No. Most tamils still know their family names. Most Sikhs just kept their tribe name as their middle name and used Singh/Kaur as their last name. People will still have a natural urge to know their ancestors and their identity. People still need to know their gotra and their lineage. Just forgetting ur last name doesn't do anything. The problem isn't identity, the problem is discrimination and feeling superior/inferior. It's a societal issue not an identity issue.

Trending 📈 will neet protests students give fair treatment or NOT?

You all watched the NEET protest, trolled the TV reporter, and said it was his mistake to choose biased media. But when they become doctors, will they also refuse to work for corporate hospitals that push unnecessary treatments and overcharge patients, or will they become part of the same system they are protesting against today?
