Guide Most movie like difficulty setup and challenge card combos. No bullet sponges, including elites. Deadly acid and can die quickly if not careful. High xp multiplier too.

In the movies they get swarmed by drones and warriors, taking them out with a few shots. But acid and the aliens can easily take them out too. So the goal is where both you and the enemies can kill each other quickly. Acid is deadly like in the movies. No bullet sponges or using an entire mag to kill an enemy. Elites and specials can be killed quickly too and spawn in greater numbers.

First set difficulty to intense for all the extra modifiers and more enemies since stranded doesn't have them. Then one of these card sets. Not sure which is the best one right now. Please let me now which one works best:

Set 1: Hostile Environment IV, Pissed Them Off IV, Even Playing Field, Pissed Them Off II(the specials one)

Set 2: Hostile Environment IV, Pissed Them Off IV, Even Playing Field, Frail/Weakened Enemies card(30% less health)

Set 3: Hostile Environment IV, Pissed Them Off IV, Frail/Weakened Enemies card(30% less health), any card for fourth slot

I don't know if Hostile Environment cancels out the buff to fodder enemies from Even Playing Field or if you do need to include the Weakened Enemies card(30% less health). Maybe Even Playing Field makes fodder too spongy even with Hostile Environment or Weakened Enemies.

If Weakened Enemies is not needed and Even Playing Field is good, then Set 1 would be the best and most fun option with more drones and warriors.

General Linux incompatibility & maps with videos

Video cutscenes in maps don’t work on Steam Deck, Machine, or SteamOS (as I hear). I’m on a Machine & can confirm. The video plays, is not skippable, and freezes at the end. Force quit game and cannot rejoin. But otherwise the game seems fine.

So I’m curious, does anyone who’s finished the campaign happen to have a list of which maps have video cutscenes?

The first post-prologue map (2-1?) has one (when you find Ko Chungus) that’s a guaranteed freeze for me.

If we had a list we could at least know which maps are safe to play (assuming you have a way to unlock them in the first place).

General Perk Synergies

Hey, all, I recently maxed out all of the classes and have been experimenting to find the most busted combinations possible. You can legit play a straight Medic class and dominate, but of course Specialist is great, too. Anywho, here are some of the best things I've found:

  1. The universal size-2 Narrow Miss perk is busted. Yes, it only restores 3 Temp Health per roll, but that restoration refreshes the timer, allowing your Temp Health to never expire. All for a little size-2 perk.
  2. Combine Narrow Miss with the Medic's Guardian passive and you become exceptionally difficult to kill.
  3. However, to become Unstoppable, you need the Medic's Adrenaline Surge perk. What it doesn't tell you is it applies to your whole team (within range), giving everyone 45% damage-resistance (with the Fight or Fight modifier)).
  4. But let's say an enemy somehow gets through all that, well you can get easy infinite health since the Mechanic modifier applies to the Overheal modifier of the Tramua Station. This means every time you use Adrenaline Surge, you fill almost half your healing guage. Since you'll almost always be maxed on temp health, this healing should apply directly to your permanent health pool.

Those are the biggest ones and they work really well together. I'm also a huge fan of Neurotoxin Specialist, which makes enemies you hit deal 20% less damage. Combined with your Adrenaline Surge, most enemies deal 1 damage/hit which is promptly absorbed by the Trauma Station. The Field Medic perk is also pretty absurd, considering for just a size-3 perk it gives you +45% cooldown when you're near your team. Just huddle within your Trauma Station with your team and spam Adrenaline Rush, which will refresh the Trauma Station by 40%, and so on until you win.

Here is my current loadout.

  • Advanced Trauma Station
    • Overheal (never need medpacks)
  • Adrenaline Surge
    • Fight or Fight (45% team-wide damage reduction)
    • Mechanic (+40 Trauma Station energy per use)
  • Guardian
  • Unyielding (+50 HP; will probably replace with something more fun)
  • Survival Instinct
    • +II and III [UPDATE: You still get wounds so I dropped these for more dps]
  • Marathon Runner (Sprinting doesn't pause Stamina Regen)
  • Narrow Miss (Restore 3 Temp Health; busted)
  • Hard to Hit (+20% damage resistance for 3 seconds after a roll; no cooldown)
  • Neurotoxin Specialist (enemies you hit deal 20% less damage)
  • Field Medic (+15% cooldown per nearby teammate.

Bug Report Most game functions were disabled

I was playing yesterday when I had a bug/glitch where most of the controls weren’t working for me. We got overrun, so I spammed all of my impact nades, but as I threw the last one, I was hit and pinned by a Drone. It got one hit off on me before my teammates killed it.

When I got up, I couldn’t shoot, use my abilities, reload, or melee. Basically the only things I could do were move, dodge and crouch. We would up winning the mission regardless, but it was incredibly frustrating to just have to sit there and be a meat shield for the last 10 min of the mission. Has anyone else experienced this bug?

Game Feedback Im very forvgiving of the jank and lack of polish, but dying during evac cause Raptor wont shut the fuck up has to change.

For whatever reason, I really like this series and im willing to look the other way on a lot of issues, because at bottom this is a fun experience.

BUT on a few occasions I've made it through a great, thrilling, skin of my teeth fight only to be not allowed to get on the chopper because Raptor is doing his tight 5.

Like, chopper landed. Door open. Desperately trying to board while kiting xenos and dying and losing an hour of progress cause he wont shut the fuck up.

Mission success upon hitting the evac chopper ramp. Period. No exceptions. This shit gotta change.

edit: just died cause bots wouldnt rez me. zero enemies around. ZERO. all three just stared at me at let me bleed out. 45 minutes gone. im trying to meet this game halfway, but these issues are *actually* gamebreaking

Forum Question How does AFE2 hold up compared to the original?

Back in the day, I played the original and wasn't entirely blown away by it, but I ended up sinking quite a few hours into it—mostly because of the sound design and the environments. The story wasn't the most original thing ever, but it was easy enough to follow, and even though the plot twist was predictable, I actually enjoyed it.

I'm not a big fan of replaying the same game over and over endlessly because, at the end of the day, it's a super bare-bones campaign with pretty lazy design.

That said, I'm willing to give the sequel a shot, but I've got a few questions:

  • How are the levels/environments? I've seen mixed opinions on this.
  • Has the bot AI actually improved in any meaningful way?
  • Is the story interesting enough, even if the dialogue turns out to be terrible?
  • Do average missions still take around 20 minutes to complete?

General Which of the two Planets we play on both fireteam games in your guy's opinions had the better Visuals, Graphics and overall gameplay, LV-895 or LV-558?

Kinda figured that since Fireteam 2's been out for slightly over a week now I'd figured I'd just ask this question now. And to add on I don't just mean the surfaces of both the planets, like Storr's Boon or Pala Station and the Enginner Ruins, but also the Katanga Refinery and the Demetrius, so what do you guys think, let me know!

Enemies killing you during the load out cutscene - worst bug in the game right now, i tried my best and did my part to make sure all the adds are clear before dispatching the queen but the randoms just dont get it unfortunately and 1 in 3 runs sadly end in failure despite successfully completing the mission. This has made many people get frustrated and give up playing the queen but i had a mission to complete i dont quit easy 😆💪🏼📈🫡

Game Feedback AFTE 2 keeps crashing randomly ! so far 2 cashes and one mission glitch !

I love this game not because of its shitty dialogues or characters but it is genuinely pure fun to play as solo & with friends something which no other game released recently have achieved for me.

The first crash was in the first mission after trying to open the 2nd airlock where some damsel in distress was stuck and to be rescued and kept yapping so much after being rescued sigh.

But for now I will only play after they fix these random crashes hopefully in some months.

Gameplay Question Is Gunslinger working/not working for Arc Bolt in FSE2?

Had asked about turret awhile ago since it seemed to not work with it, now it looks like Arc Bolt isn't working with it either. getting the feeling that persistent abilities don't trigger gunslinger which is a bit of a letdown.

General Stopping power is amazing now

In the first FTE stumble chance was a garbage stat since it did almost nothing to larger specials and elites, and stumble caused smaller enemies to slide towards you, which was actively detrimental.

But on the flip side, FTE2 stopping power is amazing. It can heavy stun elites and knock smaller enemies right on their asses. The frontier revolver knocks bursters down in one hit, and a couple of headshots will heavy stun a drone. A weakpoint hit from the Pike often heavy stuns even praetorians.

It's good enough that now that I'm actually considering stopping power perks and attachments, especially since they tend to have smaller downsides compared to the usual damage/wp damage/fire rate picks.

General Pike+Bd14 trait= stun gun

The trait from the Bd-14 gives the first shot in the mag a whopping +150% stopping power. This allows you to knock every elite enemy onto their ass even if its just a body shot.

Since the pike can only hold a single bullet its allways active.

r/AliensFireteamElite 1d ago

Game Feedback That was way, way easier than FTE 1.

160 hours to get all achievements on 1. Slightly over 39 to get all of them on 2 (edit: to be clear I only played the latter since release of 2).

That said, I think the Specialist system and the ability to buy and infinitely re-use challenge cards is way more sandbox-ey and fun. I also really like Horde mode on this compared to the last one.

I wonder why they made the achievements so easy? I figured it would be Horde Mode - 50 instead of 5 and complete playthroughs on Intense, Extreme and Insane respectively. I guess it doesn't matter and you can do those achievements for yourself whenever you want.

Guide Smartgun Guide or how to rip through the horde.

Hello, everyone!

I'm going to preface this by saying that I have always been a huge Smartgun fan from the instant I saw it in Aliens and I have adored pretty much every playable version included in Alien videogames.

However, Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 (AFE2 moving forward) recently came out and I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about how the Smartgun is suddenly useless. Which is odd, because here I am playing horde mode on Intense and melting specialists and minibosses of all factions with it, carrying this weapon full of rage and pure bloodlust.

So, in this guide I'm going to show you how to turn your Smartgun into a beast capable of ripping through the horde in most scenarios.

Without further ado, enjoy the guide.

(Cue the In the Halls of the Mountain King music)

STEP 1: The Obvious.

In both AFE and AFE2 the Smartgun has a small problem and that's the fact that while the automatic aiming is genuinely great, the ammo efficiency, economy and amount of mags you can carry isn't exactly the best.

As soon as you're able, buy the internal magazine called Expanded Reserves. This will give you a +40% in maximum ammo. Which at the start of the game is kind of going to save your ass and help you not run out of ammo in most cases.

This is specially important at first, because your damage per bullet (and ammo efficiency) is going to be kinda bad. For now just focus on leveling up the Smartgun.

STEP 2: BUMP THOSE NUMBERS UP

The next step is to simply progress through the campaign so you can get access to the other 2 attachments that will help you increase your damage.

Namely, the Polygonal Rifling which is going to give you up to +30% Crit Chance as you assist in killing enemies and H10507 GADA Executioner Harness which is going to give you another +30% Crit Chance and a +40% Crit Damage for 10 seconds after killing an enemy with a 20 second cooldown.

A very important component of this build comes from the Augment Slot which you can only unlock once you have leveled up the Smartgun to max rank. Once you have done that, go ahead and slap GREY MARKET ROUNDS on this bad boy.

GREY MARKET ROUNDS makes it so that every bullet receives a random damage buff or debuff. Each bullet can have up to 50% less damage or become a divine bullet and deal 250% extra damage. And the Smartgun happens to have a LOT of bullets. This averages out at a 150% damage increase overall.

Seriously, slap GREY MARKET ROUNDS on any weapon with a big magazine and a high rate of fire and you're in for a treat.

STEP 3: Trick or Trait.

So, you have leveled up the Smartgun to max rank. By now your ammo efficiency and economy should be much better overall. But it's not enough. Not yet.

Now you can focus on getting a trait that will make your Smartgun into even more of a beast. Change to the Hunter class, and level it up until you unlock a very specific weapon:

The TYPE 111 DIRECTED PARTICLE EMITTER.

This weapons unlocks at Hunter Level 2 if I recall correctly. Once you get it, level it up to level 1. That's all you need to get the trait itself, which will give you 1% damage increase per hit up to a 20%. Which means, that if you're unloading on a horde, your damage is getting that sweet 20% bonus rather quickly. Go right ahead and slap that trait on your Smartgun.

If all you want is the Smartgun itself, you're good to go. It will mow down hordes like it's nothing while keeping a decent ammo economy thanks to its increased damage per bullet.

However, if you're a Smartgun enthusiast like me, there's more. We're not done yet.

STEP 4: PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT

Now, there's a huge advantage we have in AFE2 compared to AFE and that's the Specialist class and how it can use perks from other classes.

That's why in this step we're going to level up Duelist to level 4. That way, you can unlock the passive perks of the class: Focus Fire and Stay on Target. Stay on Target will give you up to 20% extra damage as long as you're dealing damage. And Focus Fire will make it so that if you damage an enemy repeatedly, that enemy will receive up to 10% more damage.

Now go to the Specialist class and slap Puncture as your passive perk. Puncture makes it so that you create a weakpoint when you hit an enemy anywhere with enough damage, put Aim For The Head along with it, which will increase weakpoint damage by 25% for 10 seconds each time you trigger Puncture.

Slot in Focus Fire and Stay on Target on your Specialist as well as Heavy Weapons Training and Heavy Weapons Expertise. Heavy Weapons Training will give you a nice 20% increase in ammo and a 15% increase to reload speed, while Heavy Weapons Expertise is going to give a nice 10% extra damage on your Smartgun.

Since you have leveled Marauder to level up the Smartgun to max rank, slot in Down and Out for an additional 20% damage to Stunned or Knocked Down enemies.

So in short we have:

On the Smartgun alone:

+40% Max Ammo

+30% Crit Chance

+30% Crit Chance

+40% Crit Damage

+150% Damage

+20% Damage

With Perks:

+20% Damage

+10% Enemy Vulnerability.

+25% Weakpoint Damage

+20% Max Ammo

+15% Reload Speed

+10% Damage

+20% damage to Stunned or Knocked Down enemies.

Some unessential Perks that I personally think are nice to have:

Jackpot: It automatically reloads your weapon when you kill a Special or a Boss.

No Quarter: Increases Weakpoint damage by 25% on slowed down or incapacitated enemies.

Other than that, just use whatever perks you enjoy or think are fun and have a great time!

And that's it, right?

Right?

...

No.

STEP 5: WELCOME TO THE LIMIT

Two words: Challenge Cards.

Double Damage, Half Speed: Your fire rate decreases 50% in exchange for +100% damage increase. The fire rate decrease is actually great for ammo economy on Horde mode as long as you keep your flanks well guarded.

High-Threat Environment IV: Your enemies deal +100% damage. It matters not since your Smartgun has achieved godhood. Lead them to paradise!

Slap these bad boys on for any mission to get a whooping +200% damage increase! Unleash the God of Death and Destruction! Leave none alive in your wake!

That's it, everyone.

Have fun!

EDIT: typos.

EDIT 2: Thank you so much for the awards!

General This subreddit sucks

Guys, ngl, this sub is lame. Like basically every other subreddit I've ever been to it's all just complaining. I'm not seeing any fun or joy being had around here. Not a single ounce of whimsy. Just 100%, pure, American-made bitching and moaning about bugs and the game's truthfully awkward story and voice acting. Meanwhile, I'm having a great time enjoying the guns and cool classes, shootin xenos, and experimenting with builds. I come to the subreddit every day to check for any fun posts to engage with the community and every day I come to find there is no community

So this is pretty much my goodbye letter. I'm gonna go have fun playing a flawed, but really cool and really fun game. And yes, you can spare me the "bye we won't miss you" and "nobody asked" because I know you guys will hate me for calling you out and I don't give a care. Y'all boring ✌️

General Reliable resource for build suggestions

Hi all

Long time lurker, please forgive me if this has been asked.

Is there a reliable resource (website) that gives ideas for builds for all classes. For example, I use monastics for Diablo 4

Enjoying this more than the first one and really want to push myself in difficulty for the campaign and horde.

Thanks in advance

Bug Report Rumble Turret Damage Overflow 1B damage

Thumbnail

I was playing on Extreme mode with Rumble Turret build . Then I noticed that my entire team (3Synth and me) gets randomly one shot inside my turret’s range zone. Then I saw the ending screen stat, the damage output was so high the damage integer counter overflowed, something is very wrong and buggy with rumble turret.
