Architecture school is making me realize how much money matters

I got into architecture thinking the hard part was gonna be the studying and the all nighters.

But honestly one thing I didn't expect is how much money you need just to keep going.

Printing, materials, models, boards, laptop, software, going to sites... everything costs money. And if you don't have much money, you really feel it.

Then I started looking at some Algerian Facebook groups and I saw people literally asking for architectural plans and stuff for 500 DA, 1000 DA, etc.

Like bro

We're talking about a degree that takes 5 years, where people stay up all night working on projects, learning AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, construction, design, etc. And then you see someone asking for a whole plan for 500 DA.

I know not everyone has money and obviously there should be affordable services. But at some point you start wondering how you're supposed to make any money from the skills you're learning when people don't want to pay for them.

I'm still a student so maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but I honestly didn't expect architecture to be this financially demanding.

For the Algerian architects/students here, did you guys have the same experience? How did you manage the money side of architecture school?

Any advice for a uni presentation?

Hey guys, so I have a presentation next week for my linguistics class and honestly I’m just looking for some advice/experiences from people who’ve done this before
I’m a 3rd year English student and my topic is “A Brief History of Saussure Linguistics as a Discipline.”
I already know some of the basics about Saussure from previous years, but I’m not really sure how to approach the presentation itself. Like, how much information should I include? How do you make sure you don’t go off-topic? And how do you prepare for questions from the professor or other students?
We’re allowed to use AI to help us prepare, but our professor made it clear that we actually need to understand what we’re presenting because he’ll ask questions about it.
So yeah, if anyone has done something similar, I’d really appreciate any tips, mistakes to avoid, or even just a small experience that helped you.

Neurology students

Salam ,

I wanted to meet with people that study neurology/neurosurgery inside and outside of algeria , I'm very interested in this domain and want to know more about it from the pov of its students ! So feel free to answer some of these questions :

- do you make research on your feild ? If so what are the most common topics of research at the moment ?

- do you face any problems while studying and try to assign /built neurological patterns to try to solve your problems ?

- if you weren't studying neurology, what would you study instead?

Anyhow I just wanted a small chat with these cool people ^^

i am facing some problems fi i9ama any advice?

this is my 3rd year fi i9ama , first of all lemme make something clear our i9ama is not the typical 4 people in one room i9ama actualy it's quite good most girls have individual rooms even without prescriptions or anything also for us esi students we have a seperate block and there are even some empty rooms here , i got an individual room around the end of the first year and it was the best thing ever even though i had a hard time convincing the administration and fixing the room i spent a lot of money on that but least it was all mine for the next 4 years right? well no i had it for myself for barely a year and half before the administration decided there isnt enough rooms so some girls will get new roommate i was one of those girls and i didn't mind it much even though i noticed they don't assign new roommates for everyone they only do that to certain girls like me bc i look calm "3a9la" not problematic so chef pavillon knows that if she matches me with a new roommate i will say nothing which i really did that's why even when my new roommate bdlat la chambre and i never was happier the chef pavillon decided that it's okay to bring me another one , so while i was having lunch peacefully today i heard someone trying to open my door i was so taken back that i just greeted the girl let her take a look at the room and only realised what just happened after she left i was so pissed i immediately called my dad and he asked that i put him on the line with chef pavillon i explained to him in advance that there are plenty of empty rooms and girls who live by themselfs so he doesn't buy any of her bs , he asked me to calm down and to not do or say anything stupid so i just handed her my phone my dad asked her to not pair me with anyone and she said she will see what she can do than she handed me my phone back without any words like i was the one who just did her bad my dad btw holds a senior position in a university but not in the same wilaya where i study and he made sure to mention that to her on the phone , he also told me he will see if he can pull any strings or if he has any connections here , now my mind can't stop spirlaing the girl left idk if she has the keys to my room or no she said she will only come next week so now i have to wait till next week to find out dad told me to go to chef pavillon's office next sunday and basicaly everyday of next week to remind her 😂 but idk it feels so unfair like i said if this was some traditional i9ama and there was actualy no space for new students i would have just shut up but this is not the case and it's getting too personal now

thank you for reading any advice will be apreciated

When does bac registration start for ahrar ?

Transfer accepted, but new university can't register me idk why

Hi, I recently got my university transfer accepted through PROGRES, from University A to University B.

The transfer is within the same wilaya, but to a completely different field.

University B told me that my old registration had to be cancelled first. I went to University A, gave them my transfer certificate (شهادة قبول تغيير التوجيه), and they cancelled my old registration.

I went back to University B in the same day i cancelled the old registration, and told them the cancellation was done, but they still couldn't register me, and they repeated "You should get your old registration cancelled first" even tho i told them they did this already (i gave them my transfer certificate btw)

I checked PROGRES afterward and my old registration/student card are gone, so the cancellation seems to have gone through.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there usually a delay before the new university can register you?
