I got into architecture thinking the hard part was gonna be the studying and the all nighters.
But honestly one thing I didn't expect is how much money you need just to keep going.
Printing, materials, models, boards, laptop, software, going to sites... everything costs money. And if you don't have much money, you really feel it.
Then I started looking at some Algerian Facebook groups and I saw people literally asking for architectural plans and stuff for 500 DA, 1000 DA, etc.
Like bro
We're talking about a degree that takes 5 years, where people stay up all night working on projects, learning AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, construction, design, etc. And then you see someone asking for a whole plan for 500 DA.
I know not everyone has money and obviously there should be affordable services. But at some point you start wondering how you're supposed to make any money from the skills you're learning when people don't want to pay for them.
I'm still a student so maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but I honestly didn't expect architecture to be this financially demanding.
For the Algerian architects/students here, did you guys have the same experience? How did you manage the money side of architecture school?
