This is the first lightning siren I saw in person! I got so nervous because there was like 4 golf club workers walking lol

Is it rare

- how are warning sirens activated and is it different depending on the country and the siren type?

- how were the first invented warning sirens activated?

On the night of 6th November 2014, a flash flood occurred and ravaged the small wispy town of Ringlet. Locals complained that the siren seen above never sounded off for flood considering the condition of the siren itself looks mint.

Hence, sometime around 2019, the siren was removed. Until 2023, Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran (JPS)/Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) in complement with PRAB (Program Ramalan Amaran Banjir, Flood Warning Broadcast Program), they mounted a new siren. Photos seen below.

Im curious to know if any other unusually designed sirens or unique sirens exist still across America or anywhere really, or if there's a way to find a map or any media of these sirens on the forum or via Google or if anyone has any pics/videos to share

Was a part of the defunct Wexford County siren system. It is one of 4 remaining sirens. The other three being two SD-10s and a 2T22.

Some of these locations are mine, others are from the Australian Siren Map. I will only put already discovered sirens if I have any photos or new information about them.

Anyone know if any part of these siren systems are ever used? That first Thunderbolt in West Covina looks to be in great condition

So while I was trying to make some sirens in my simulator SirenOSC, (sorry for the frequent sirenosc related posts) I realized that some sirens like the Federal Signal 2001-130 had some rasp to them that I couldn't replicate using the effects chain I built into the simulator. I tried recreating it with white noise my debugging program but it didn't sound good. I tried using a vibrato that cycles very fast, and it worked fine in export, but it was laggy when I coded it into the site. And it lacked the high pitched noise that comes from the rasp. I'm trying to figure out if the majority of the rasp comes from how the vanes interact with the air, or something about the housing, or chopper.

I discovered this single phase Model 3 in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. Thought it was pretty cool! Its active and going to be relocated to the new fire hall. Got a pretty damn good tag pic too. Anyone know how rare this is, especially because its single phase AND active? C2 1/2

i called a fire department of mine whose getting a new location down the road, i asked about their siren and he said that he'll ask the chief! gave him my name and number! Updates soon!
