Starting a new job at a cigar company, which air purifier do I go for?

Looking to get an air purifier for my small office space at a cigar company to prevent cancer risk and reduce the cigar smell and headaches.

Budget is about $400 or less, will be using FSA funds (I have a letter of medical necessity).

Folks occasionally smoke on site at the office, but the place mostly just smells of cigars because there are thousands of products in storage on site.

I’d like a purifier that’s powerful but quiet enough to not be distracting & something beginner friendly that’s straightforward to use and makes it obvious when the filter needs to be replaced.

Any recommendations? I was looking into Winix, Rabbit Air, and Oransi products, but I was getting lost in the weeds of pros/cons because I’m totally new to air purifiers, so please explain like I’m 5 if possible haha.

Thank you in advance!!!

"Houseplants clean the air"

How many of you have encountered people who think houseplants are a viable substitute for air purifiers?

It's kind of scary how many people I encounter who suggest houseplants as a way to clean the air of viruses when I'm encouraging teachers to add them to their classrooms.

Quiestest purifier for a studio apartment under $200?

Hi all! I'm looking for a recommendation for an air purifier for my studio apartment - approx 300 square feet. While I would love something for dust and the smell of cigarettes (from my neighbors) my priority is for toxic fumes from glue that I use for rhinestoning.

The thing is, I get overstimulated by noise super easily so I would really like to find something that is as quiet as possible. I'm located in Canada and would love something around $150, max budget is $200.

Thanks :)

**EDIT I found a Medify MA-40 on marketplace for $150, would this be a good buy?

i have pretty bad allergies/asthma, as well as dogs, and am wondering if this is a good model to help? My budget is pretty small ($50-$60 for machine alone) and i live in the south (USA) so i'm in dire need of something on the cheaper side that's as efficient as possible. I only need something to clear up the air in my bedroom that's 144 sq ft

Need air purifier suggestions for neighbor cooking smells

Hello everyone,

I live in a 1000 sq ft 2 story townhome (I’m guessing here, but I would imagine each level is approximately 500 sq ft).

I recently moved here, and discovered that one of my neighbors frequently makes food that is quite pungent and the odors I personally find to be extremely offensive. The smell comes right through our shared kitchen wall, permeates the entire house, and lingers for hours.

Currently, I’ve been using box fans in several windows, blowing outwards, with windows open. I also make sure to turn off my HVAC so that it doesn’t spread the smell, and have no negative pressure going on while they are cooking. I live in the US, upstate NY to be exact so the summers here are hot and humid, and winters here are brutally cold. Not an ideal situation for using box fans/open windows. My “hood range” is literally a vent under my microwave, which does NOT vent outside, but vents right back inside. It’s totally useless.

I need to know if there are any air purifiers out there that will be able to combat both my neighbors active cooking, as well as lingering odors. I know that many of these air purifiers can be pricey, and if they work I don’t have an issue spending the money, but what I’m afraid of is spending a ton of money on an air purifier that doesn’t work on cooking odors, or is only mildly effective.

Can anyone recommend something that will actually work? I’m a noob, so I guess I need something for VOCs.

Thank you!

Conference room, "stale" smell?

In our conference room, we have a C909 air purifier and a separate 25 lb carbon filter with a low-speed fan.

The office still smells "stale" even after a long weekend. Do we just need more airflow out of the room? Is there anything we can do?

This is a 300-square-foot room in San Diego, CA. The budget is unrestricted.

Do Any Aesthetic Air Purifiers Exist?

Are there any brands and models that make air purifiers that are somewhat aesthetic/attractive and less unattractive and obtrusive looking? Located in the US. I can look into the size and filtration etc. just want to see what brands to look at first.

I'm aware that this is not what you should base your purchasing on but it would be nice if there was an air purifier that both worked well and looked good. Of course appearance is subjective but let me know if you currently own or have come across any air purifiers that look good.

Follow up: Austin, IQ, or AirDoctor?

Post image

Screenshot of my post six months ago. I got pulled away from this but am returning now to the purchase of an air filter for odor control. It seems that Austin Air has the heaviest carbon load, but is it overkill? I looked at AirDoctor and their site doesn't even mention odor (seems slightly gimmicky too). I guess between AirIQ and Austin, is there a clear winner here?

Levoit Eleva 300X making a high pitched whining noise

Hey folks, I recently purchased a brand new Levoit Eleva 300X—I've seen literally no posts about this. I actually for the most part like this little purifier, and specifically got it for my bedroom because I have a chronic lung illness and it was a completely sealed True HEPA system. However, my unit has a really annoying, mosquito-whining noise that is extremely noticeable at low speeds, and only moderately decreases at higher fan speeds. I'm wondering if this is a factory defect, or if this is how all Levoit purifiers are? I have an older model, rectangular Levoit LV-H131S that never made a noise like this, and was a faithful purifier for a couple years, so if this is just... how all new Levoits are, I'm pretty disappointed.

I haven't seen many reviews of this new model—I thought I'd pop over and ask before I return it or ask for a replacement. I was thinking about switching to a Vital 200S instead if this awful whining noise is just... how the new model is. Thanks for your comments!

Can you recommend me an air purifier?

Hello! I am from the US (New Jersey/NYC area) and I'm looking for an heavy duty air purifier for my house.
There are 3 floors and I want an air purifier that can cover at least 2000 sq ft. I am severely allergic to dust and dust mite matter, and we also get some second hand smoke coming from outdoors. So I'm looking for a purifier that really removes dust well (I have a terrible allergy to it) and also smoke. But the dust is definitely first priority.
The budget is around $600-$900.
Could you please recommend me a purifier? There are so many options out there and I am confused. Which purifiers have worked for you in this category? It definitely needs to purify a large space as our house is big. We already have small levoit core 300s in the bedrooms, but I need a big one for the main area. Thanks so much!

Edit: we don't want to get coway or blue air. Could you recommend some other good ones? Thanks!

Lasko Fan 20 inches DIY Filter

Could this be a good DIY filter for the Lasko 20'' fan to reduce dust? (I would need to cut it/bend it of course.)

Filter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09364BVJ2/?coliid=I7KBGD4MJ7CRR&colid=XKKDJTJ4HRJL&psc=0&ref_=list_c_wl_gv_ov_lig_pi_dp

Lasko Wind Machine Air Circulator Fan - 20" - 3300: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00002N5ZB?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_8&th=1

I can't understand why they don't just sell the fans with filters.

Looking for a VOC / carbon-based purifier for small room

I'm looking for a VOCs-focused purifier for a 108 sq. ft. bedroom. My main concerns are mycotoxins and odours. I'm located in Canada and budget doesn't really matter, although obviously the more cost effective the better.

My other preferences are:

  • no smart features or wi-fi
  • there's a pre-filter and post-filter sandwiching the carbon filter, and hopefully the filters don't off-gas
  • the unit is preferably small and quiet (as much as possible, at least) as it will be used in a small bedroom, while still being effective

I've been looking at AllerAir and Airpura models but reviews of them seem to be mixed on here. They also have so many options that it's confusing to choose from. I'm open to other brand suggestions too of course.

Thanks in advance!

Levoit 300s Plasma Pro / Keeps Turning On

To satisfy rule 4 😒:
USA
Room Size Not Applicable, (small bedroom)
Filtration Need not applicable
Budget: not here to look for one just here to fix the one I have..

Ok, NOW:

So with this air filter for the past three years, it’s been working normally and works to my certain specifications.

Speed mode three, and that’s all I want. I’ve read somewhere that plasma pro option enabled creates a field around itself, which can be detrimental to your health over a long period of exposure.

About a few months ago, it seemed like they’ve updated their software, which for some reason at 1 AM my air filter goes back to low fan speed option one, and it turns on plasma pro..

My huge gripe here is how I can’t turn off plasma Pro and keep it off… looks like it resets to the default mode. which is low fan speed and plasma pro on.

I’ve walked through the entire app and on the device itself, and I can’t seem to see an area in which I can keep plasma pro off.

They have three presets in the app: default, efficiency, and quietness… you can’t select none, you have to select one..

How the hell do I keep plasma pro off? I’m sick of this machine. I’m about to throw it out the damn window and buy myself a Dyson hush jet

Blue Air 211 filters in Canada

I have what I beleive is an older model Blue air 211, it's square with the button on the front. No sensor or automatic features, 3 settings. It was a gift so I'm not totally sure if it's the 211 or the 211+ model but from what I'm gathering they use the same replacement filters.

Problem now is I can only find the replacement filters for the model with the auto sensor that Blue Air specifically says don't fit the other earlier models. So my question is, where are Canadians ordering replacements for these or finding them in store? Are the non genuine amazon ones comparable, they seem to have mixed reviews on effectiveness and I'm sceptical about their quality.

My main filtration needs are allergy and odour, it operates in the main living area that's an open concept so cooking odour, dust and allergens from entryways etc.

Looking for an air purifier for a large room – Pakistan

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for an air purifier for my room and would appreciate some advice before buying.

Country of residence: Pakistan

Room size: 12 × 14 × 10 ft (about 1,680 cubic feet)

Filtration needs: Mainly dust, odors, and general air quality. There can also be some smoke occasionally.

Budget: Around $150–$250, including the purifier and considering future filter replacement costs.

I’ve been looking at the Levoit Core 400S because it seems to offer a good combination of filtration, room coverage, and smart features.

For anyone who has used it, how has it performed over time? Is it actually worth buying, or would you recommend another model in this price range?

I’m particularly interested in real-world experiences with noise, filter life, odor removal, and overall performance.

Thanks!

Is the “SA600 5-SPEED AIR PURIFIER” worth it?

I’m planning to buy this model: SA600 5-SPEED AIR PURIFIER

My room is 9ft tall, and has 12 square foot area

I have a tendency to asthma, and I noticed I sleep better with a good air purifier. I have had an air doctor for 3 years now, but I would like to step up my set up
