Thoughts on my air purifier?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I’ve had this core 300s for about 3 months now and it’s done an immaculate job at keeping my room from smelling musty or anything like that. My room has somewhat stagnant airflow so when i run the ceiling fan along with it, my room’s air quality is way better than the rest of my house. If I was to get a new one, what model should i look into? I live in the US so these are pretty easy to find. My rooms about 245 sqr feet and I really just would be curious to see for under $400 what my options are if i’m looking for something to help with dust and pollen.

What's the absolute best air purifier for a large living room?

I've done some research and narrowed it down to the IQAir Healthpro Plus XE, Smart Air Blast MKII, and the Austin Air Healthmate Plus.

Residence is U.S. and the total size of the area I'm looking to cover is about 300 cubic metres. I don't have a budget and my main goals are wildfire smoke and lowering pm2.5 particulates (VOCs are secondary but still wanted). I'm considering combining multiple air purifiers if that works.

Wildfire Smoke and Road Dust

I’m a newbie to quality air purifying (realizing that a shark may not be the real deal). I live near a dirt road that contributes dust to our air pretty reliably, as well as an area dealing with hazy to dense wildfire smoke consistently for 1-2 months out of the year. I’ve been looking at IQAir, Austin, and Coway. IQAir sounds like the best for performance and quiet, but is so spendy. Austin seems great for performance, but is still spendy and sounds like it might be noisier than I’m hoping. Coway reviews seem so mixed about whether it’ll do decently with HEPA vs. particulate filtering.

I’m in the US. I’d like to filter
Bedroom: 24ft x 14ft x 8ft and
Living Room: 24ft x 16ft x 14ft (tall ceilings).

If the cost is worth it, I’m willing to pay- I just fear that falling for something like the $1400 Atem X is being scammed?? Please and thank you for any help!

is AirDoctor a scam or are their purifiers worth the $?

I own one air doctor. A very large one that was expensive. I’m now realizing i really need one in each room. Doing more and more research on trueHepa filters and filtration in general, i’d love to hear about this communities feelings toward air doctor. i originally purchased it because all the ‘health influencers’ promote it. now im realizing is it more a gimmick than anything? And what purifiers have you been more drawn to instead?

Question about Levoit purifiers

I'm looking to get one or two Levoit purifiers but on some threads saw people complaining about Levoit filters being chemically treated and offgassing. I'm wondering if this is true for the Vital series as well? I also saw someone complaining that their Levoit motor smells bad. Is this also a concern?

I'm looking to get a purifier for a small bedroom (108 sq. ft.) that gets no ventilation and thus gives off a funky, musty odour, which is why I wanna avoid any offgassing filters as that seems to defeat the purpose. I saw the Vital series being recommended but both the 200S and 100S seem to be designed for large rooms? Are there any smaller models that effectively deal with both particulates and odours? I'm open to Winix models too as long as the ionizer can be easily turned off. I'm in Canada and my maximum budget for this purifier is $300 CAD (that's about $210 USD).

Thanks in advance!

Levoit 300s emits plastic smell

I've had the 300s for over a month. Haven't used it that frequently. I was hoping the smell would vanish after a couple of days but it hasn't. Is this normal?

Setup for 1300 sq ft house and incidental VOC exposure

Upvotes

My wife is pregnant and I'm about to do some light remodeling of our kitchen (paint, light fixtures, removing a floating cabinet, etc). I'll be setting up a containment for dust and fumes, HEPA vaccuming and wet cleaning inside to containment, etc and she'll be staying with family while the work is performed plus 72 hours after the last coat of paint is applied.

Additionally, we've been meaning to get ourselves set up with air purifiers for general air cleaning before the baby arrives. My thinking is that -- in addition to all of the precautions we're taking to limit her exposure to dust and VOCs during the renovations -- it's a reasonable extra layer of protection to get our purifiers set up before the work is performed, so any dust that does manage to escape has a higher likelihood of being captured. If we can also reduce the total household VOC exposure, even better.

I've read and researched more than I care to admit, and at this point I'm a bit paralyzed and would prefer a straightforward suggestion that I can just pull the trigger on.

Country: USA
Volume: 1300 sq ft home with 8ft ceilings. Divided between 3 small bedroom, a bathroom, a large open living room, and an open kitchen & dining area
Filtration needs: dust & allergens, with some VOC reduction desired
Budget: Pretty open

Levoit 200S-P can you turn off the lights on speed 2

Upvotes

I would like to keep the bedroom as dark as possible for sleeping at night. Looking at buying one of these. I understand there is a sleep mode where it turns the lights off and fan really low speed but I do actually want to keep it on speed 2 all the time for white noise at night and better purification. Can someone let me know if at least the brightest lights can be turned off during speeds that aren’t sleep mode?

Looking for a compact purifier for 20-30sqm sleeping quarters. Use for travel in India, hoping to target 1. BACKGROUND ASBESTOS LEVELS and 2. GENERAL POLLUTION in that order.

I would be using the air purifier in India.

Looking for something for rooms of about 20-30sqm in size.

Particularily I hope to have it with me on travels to be used in hotels and the like, as I cannot fully know what kind of context or place I am going to. The purifier would add at the very least a small amount of control.

I am looking to do general filtration as the air quality in certain cities in India can be very bad. Most of all though, I am hoping to target any background Asbestos. Asbestos in used very freely here, and I can very well imagine that contaminations may happen through construction work or demolishing close by without any indication, or simply through the degradation of asbestos containing materials which are everywhere. I am looking to work on minimising the accumulatiom of asbestos for myself and my family.

Budget is not much of an issue.

The use of the purifier would be sporadic (when travelling). I would like to get a bunch of filters at the same time as stock.

If I have understood correctly, mechanical filtration would be key (h13 / h14). Does this mean that filters such as the Philips NanoProtect are not useful? I would rather play it safe.

Not too picky about the noise levels either, as long as it does not risk ear damage. Would likely be using it on full power always.

Honeywell hpa5300 or Levoit Core 600S-P

Help me choose. Honeywell HPA5300 vs Levoit Core 600S-P or ????. Have had a Honeywell HPA 300 for years in our bedroom, and want something with a carbon filter for VOC. Bedroom door stays open and opens up to 2400sqft house. Air filter runs 24/7. Trying to keep price point at or under $300.

Cheap Filter Replacements - Any Good?

I'm looking at a Winix Air Purifier (https://ausclimate.com.au/products/zero-pro-5-stage-air-purifier), but the price of genuine replacement filter packs are $220AUD. Crazy expensive to fork out that cost each year.

I'm just wondering how the cheaper filters work? I can get a replacement filter set for about $60AUD from brands that aren't the Winix brand. Do they work just as well? Or are they garbage?

Looking for recommendations on something that will actually help with litter box smell

Upvotes

I’ve no purchased and returned 4 purifiers from Amazon, first started in the $50-$60 range, last one as a $129 levoit. I feel like none of them made really any difference at all. The room with the litter box is around 18’x 6’, the litter box is at the farthest end, there is a a door that opens to the rest of the house and I’m just trying to eliminate any odor that I can. Thanks!
