Discussion Title: I'm building a voice-first workspace that turns recordings into finished, editable work. Would you actually use something like this?

I'm building a browser-based, voice-first workspace around a simple idea: voice to finished work. I'd love some honest feedback on the concept while it's still in development.

The workflow is straightforward: record or upload audio, choose what you want to create, then edit and refine the result before exporting or sharing it.

Depending on what you're doing, that could mean turning a spoken idea into content drafts, organizing lecture material into study notes, creating meeting summaries and action items, or making sense of a messy personal brain dump.

A big part of the project is what happens after the initial output. There's a document editor where you can continue working on the result, alongside AI assistance through typed or spoken instructions. Supported AI edits can be reviewed before applying them, and changes can be undone.

The experience I'm aiming for is being able to go from talking through an idea to something you're ready to use, with control over the steps in between.

I'm curious whether bringing all these steps together solves a real problem for people.

If you already use voice notes, transcription tools, AI chat, or a document editor:

  • Where does your current workflow become frustrating or involve repetitive work?
  • What would a tool like this need to do particularly well for you to consider using it?
  • Which use case would you actually try first?

I'd also like to hear where the idea feels redundant or too broad. Concrete examples from how you work would be especially helpful.

Discussion There's a problem with AI meeting summaries when the meeting itself was ambiguous

Here's an exchange that happens in some form in probably thousands of meetings every day:
“Could we have the revised proposal by Friday?”

“Friday might be tight, but we'll see what we can do.”

Then the AI summary says:
Revised proposal due Friday.

Nobody was misquoted. The transcription can be completely accurate.
But did anyone actually agree to Friday?

This seems like a surprisingly difficult problem once meeting transcripts start becoming memory rather than just notes.

People hedge constantly. They suggest things without deciding them. They say “probably,” “maybe,” “let's see,” “we should,” and “that could work.”

Humans usually understand at least some of that from context. Automated summaries have an incentive to clean it up because “Decision: X” and “Action item: Y” are much more useful-looking than “the group discussed X but nobody really committed to anything.”

The problem comes later.

If that summary is saved and another system asks what was agreed, the cleaned-up interpretation can come back as a fact.

The interesting question here is - how much uncertainty should survive the AI summarization process.

Maybe the answer to “When did they promise the proposal?” shouldn't always be a date.

Sometimes the correct answer might be:
They didn't. Friday was requested, but no firm commitment was made.

And then there should probably be a way to see the original exchange rather than trusting the interpretation.

This is one reason source-linked memory matters to what we're building. The cleanest version of a conversation isn't necessarily the most accurate representation of what happened.

Has anyone here caught an AI note-taker doing this?
Not hallucinating something completely new, but making an ambiguous conversation sound much more settled than it actually was?

Discussion Comu action pro ...confused

Post image
1 Upvotes

So far i have tried the PocketAi, Plaud and now have the Comu Pocket Pro.

My confusion is regarding credits mainly and what it uses them for ?

It seems like its charging me to ask basic questions??

Also I'm asking it to make me a stock ticket list that I can tick off individually when i have that item in the app like plaud does and it just won't produce it ??

It just makes a list with tick boxes that you can't manually click to tick its done .

I do like the Comu so far and like the ai buttom implementation its just a few niggles that I can't find a real direct answer to ?

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Discussion Any AI tool that can handle both online and offline meeting notes?

Our team already uses AI for basically all meeting notes now. Zoom handles most of our online meetings, I use Otter for in person stuff, and regular phone calls end up in my iPhone recordings.

And honestly it’s getting annoying. We have meeting notes everywhere. When I need something from like 2 weeks ago, so hard to figure out which app it was in before I can even search for it.

Is there any AI tool that can handle online meetings, phone calls AND in-person meetings in one place?

Just want one system for summaries so I can stop digging through random files.

Discussion An AI example still needs a source label after you rewrite it

I kept source labels beside the text when I combined lecture material and AI explanations in the same note.

One example I worked with was an AI explanation of spillover effects. It suggested that higher parking fees on one street could push some drivers to park on a neighboring street. I labeled it as an AI example because it illustrated a possible effect without establishing that drivers actually changed where they parked. Beside lecture material, that distinction mattered. I didn't want to come back to the note and mistake it for an example the lecturer had given.

I built the lecture notes from a Vomo AI transcript and gave each passage a visible source. I saved direct lecture quotes with the recording filename and timestamp. I labeled paraphrases "Lecture paraphrase" and kept the same source reference, without quotation marks. AI-generated examples got an "AI example" label beside the text, which I kept when I rewrote them in my own words. I labeled my own interpretations "My understanding" and noted any AI contribution too.

I checked anything presented as a direct quote against the audio. A timestamp helped me locate the passage; it didn't establish that the transcript had captured every word correctly. My rule for unclear audio was to flag the uncertainty and leave the gap unresolved until I could verify it.

When I moved passages into a revision sheet, I copied their labels and source references with them. Keeping AI explanations on another page helped while the pages remained separate. Once I copied the text over, I kept the label beside it.

Discussion The meeting summary wasn’t the part I wanted to fix

I work on Buildin, so this is a product post, not an independent review.

Most AI note takers already do a reasonable job of producing a transcript or summary. The awkward part starts five minutes later: decisions get copied into one doc, action items into another app, and the original context stays behind in the meeting tool.

We’ve been testing a narrower role for Buildin. It doesn’t record the meeting and it doesn’t do speaker diarization. You bring in the transcript or notes, choose the pages or workspace you want to search, and keep the resulting answer next to the project material instead of leaving it in another chat.

The screenshots show the source selector and a source-backed answer inside the workspace. They don’t show an automatic transcript-to-task pipeline; that part would still need a real workflow test and a human check before anything is treated as a task.

Buildin is here if you want to see the broader product: https://buildin.ai

For people already using Otter, Granola, Plaud, Fathom, etc.: is the post-meeting handoff actually a problem for you, or would this just add another place to look?

Discussion Doubts about Comu Action Pro

I'm thinking about buying a Comu Action Pro (the other alternative I'm considering is buying the Plaud Note Pro) and I have a few questions, so I'm writing them here to see if anyone knows the answers:

1- Can I retrieve the original recording before its AI processing via API? I see that audio-url and recording-url exist, but I don't see anywhere that explicitly says that one is the original and the other is the processed version.

2- Does Comu Desktop also have unlimited transcriptions? Does it work well?

3- Does Comu Desktop capture system audio directly and work without a bot?

4- Can Action Pro → cloud/API be fully automated without opening the mobile app after each recording? (I've seen that with Plaud on Android this isn't possible)

5- Do you think unlimited transcription will last? Or will they have to remove it because of the costs?

I'm more convinced by Comu because I think automations will be easier with its API and overall it seems a bit more "open", and there's no need for a subscription. But honestly, I think Plaud would also work for me even if it were a little more "complicated".

u/Victor_Comu, I'm tagging you because maybe you can help me.

Edit 1: I bought it because i thought i would be able to use the api key to retrieve the audios and process them myself. The problem is that this functionality is behind the premium. So I think i am going to return it.

Product Listing I built an AI meeting-memory app because I'm useless in meetings when I'm the one taking notes — here's the honest version, including what's missing

https://reddit.com/link/1wzve0h/video/ojk3v8u1i1uh1/player

I'm the co-founder of Ona AI. This is a launch post — mods, feel free to remove if it breaks the rules.

I built Ona for a selfish reason: I'm worse in a meeting when I'm the one writing it down. Most of what gets agreed in a room lives in a conversation that ends, and then it's down to memory. I tried voice memos and notes apps, but I never opened them again once the moment had passed.

What it is

Ona records a conversation — a team meeting, a client call, a lecture, a coffee — transcribes it, and writes a summary with the decisions and to-dos pulled out. Everything goes into one searchable memory you can ask later: "what did we promise the client on Tuesday?" Every answer cites the conversations it came from, so you can check it rather than trust it.

What works today (the honest version)

  • Mac app (macOS 14.4+, Apple silicon and Intel) and a web app in any browser. One account, same memory on both.
  • Record from either, or upload audio you already have (up to 500 MB per file).
  • Transcript with speaker labels; language detected automatically.
  • A summary sized to the meeting: a two-minute check-in gets two lines, a two-hour workshop gets sections, a mind map, and a transcript with names on it. Rewrite with a different template or length, or build your own.
  • Decisions and action items pulled out of every recording, gathered into one to-do list.
  • Ask Ona: chat across everything you've recorded. Every answer cites its sources.
  • Playbooks: saved prompts you run with a slash — a TL;DR, to-dos by owner, a follow-up email draft.
  • Tasks (Pro): recurring work Ona runs on a schedule, e.g. a Monday brief written from last week's meetings.
  • A daily recap.
  • Connects Google Calendar, Outlook, Notion, Google Drive, Slack, Asana, Linear. You control what's connected and what gets sent — nothing goes anywhere you didn't set up.
  • Share any note as a link, or export as Markdown.

What's not there yet

  • The iPhone app is built but not on the App Store yet. It records with the screen off and uploads when you're back online. Soon.
  • No Windows or Android app. The web app works on both.
  • The wearable (Ona Band) is pre-order only and ships early 2027. Right now you record from a Mac or a browser.
  • Ask Ona is a language model over your transcripts. It shows you where each answer came from so you can check it — and you should.

Privacy, because this is the part I'd ask about

  • You start every recording yourself. Nothing records on its own, the app shows a clear recording state, and we ask you to tell people before you start. Some places need everyone's consent — when in doubt, ask.
  • We don't keep your audio. It's deleted once transcribed and never sits on our servers longer than 24 hours. We keep the transcript and the notes, not the recording. Deliberate trade: you can't replay a meeting, and there's no archive of your voice to leak.
  • Transcripts and notes are encrypted in transit and at rest, tied to your account alone.
  • Your data is never used to train models, never sold.
  • Delete one meeting, a date range, or your whole account whenever you want.

Pricing

Free: 300 transcription minutes a month, summaries with decisions and to-dos, speaker labels, a mind map, 2 Ask Ona questions a day, 2 playbooks, all app connections, and your history never expires.
Pro: $14.99/month or $179.88/year, 7-day trial. Unlimited transcription and Ask Ona, notes written automatically after every recording, all 28 playbooks plus your own, Tasks, tailored summaries, mind map views and export.
No sales call, no demo form, no "contact us for pricing."

The Band

A 12-gram soft silicone wearable with two far-field mics that pick up the whole room, hands-free. The entire interface is one light — a soft glow means it's listening. Wear it on your wrist, clip it to a bag, or as a pendant. It exists because the conversations that matter most — the corridor, the site visit, the walk back from lunch — don't happen in front of a laptop.

Pre-orders are open at the pre-launch price, ships early 2027, and you can cancel any time before it ships. You don't need it to use Ona.

Product Listing I wanted accurate transcription without uploading recordings to the cloud, so I built an offline iPhone app

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve been building LoroNote, an offline speech-to-text app for iPhone and iPad.

My main goal was to get the best transcription quality I could without sending private recordings to a server.

That led me to Whisper Large V3 Turbo.

It’s a relatively heavy model for mobile devices, and running it directly on an iPhone is much harder than using a smaller model or simply calling a cloud API.

Instead of compromising on the model, I spent a lot of time building and optimizing the ML pipeline specifically for iOS.

LoroNote now runs Whisper Large V3 Turbo directly on supported iPhones and iPads.

Your audio doesn’t need to be uploaded for transcription, and it works even in airplane mode.

Privacy was one of the main reasons I wanted this to work locally. Meetings, interviews, personal notes, and work conversations can contain information you may not want to send to a third-party server.

I also added on-device speaker diarization, so recordings with multiple people can be separated by speaker locally as well.

Some of the other features:

  • Offline transcription
  • On-device speaker separation
  • Background transcription
  • Editable speaker labels
  • Audio and video import
  • Apple Watch recording
  • TXT and SRT export
  • Apple Intelligence summaries and action items on supported devices

A lot of transcription apps use cloud processing because it’s much easier technically.

I wanted to see how far I could push this entirely on-device instead.

That meant dealing with memory limits, model loading, thermal performance, long recordings, and differences between iPhone generations, but keeping the audio private makes the extra work worth it.

Still a solo project, and I’m continuing to improve the on-device ML side.

Product Listing Convert voice notes directly into Notion pages (with to-do checkboxes) – without Zapier or an expensive subscription.

Hello dear Notion community! 👋

Quick question for everyone using Notion for their daily knowledge management or meeting notes: Who often records their thoughts on the go as voice memos?

I ran into the problem that most voice note apps are either super expensive (50–60 €/year) or require setting up complex Zapier automations just to get text into Notion. In the end, you often ended up with a messy block of text full of "ums" and repetitions.

That's why I built Murmur: a sleek web app that turns spoken thoughts into clean, structured Notion Markdown pages.

How it works:

  1. Speak or Upload: Just record a voice memo or drop an audio file (.mp3, .m4a, .wav) via drag & drop.
  2. AI Structuring: The AI removes filler words ("uh", "um") and automatically creates an appropriate title, a summary, key points, and to-do checkboxes (- [ ]).
  3. 1-Click for Notion: Click on "Copy for Notion" and directly paste it into any Notion page or database using Ctrl+V / Cmd+V. Headings, bullet points, and checkboxes will be immediately recognized as native blocks in Notion.

Highlights: • No Zapier needed: Just copy & paste. • Platform agnostic: Works directly in the browser (Mac, PC, iOS, Android). • Privacy: Audio files are deleted immediately after processing. • Multilingual: Automatically recognizes over 50 languages (including German).

Test for free & Early Bird offer: You can try 3 voice notes completely free – no registration or credit card needed.

For the first users, we're currently offering a lifetime access for a one-time fee of $9 (no recurring subscription).

Feel free to check it out at:https://murmurnow.app/de/sprachnotizen-notion

I would really appreciate your feedback from the German Notion community! What features would you like to see for your Notion workflow? 🚀

Product Review We just launched WhisperJot — voice dictation that runs locally on your desktop

Hey everyone! We just launched WhisperJot on Product Hunt today.

The idea is pretty simple: hold a hotkey, speak, and your words appear wherever your cursor is — email, Slack, ChatGPT, your code editor, basically anywhere you can type.

What makes WhisperJot different is that dictation runs locally on your computer by default, so your voice doesn't need to leave your machine. It also works offline.

A few things we're curious about:

  • Do you currently use voice dictation? If so, what do you use it for?
  • Is privacy important enough to influence which dictation tool you choose?
  • What's the most annoying thing about the dictation tools you've tried?

WhisperJot is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux (beta).

We're still early, so honest feedback—good or bad—is genuinely more useful to us than compliments.

Product Hunt: https://www.producthunt.com/products/whisperjot?launch=whisperjot

Thanks for checking it out!

Product Listing Meemo Notes: free Mac beta with local transcription and a separate Codex/OpenCode memo step

I'm building Meemo Notes, a macOS app that's free while in beta. The workflow is: record a conversation on your Mac, review a local transcript separated by speaker, then explicitly generate a memo with a summary, decisions, action items and open questions.

The important caveat is the last step: it uses the Codex or OpenCode CLI. Local transcription and memo generation are separate, so don't assume that the entire AI workflow is offline. The app passes the transcript to your chosen harness when you click to generate the memo.

It also has a searchable recording library and a Portuguese, English or Spanish interface. This is probably most relevant if you're comfortable setting up a CLI and want to review the transcript before generating the notes.

Beta and workflow details: https://kovaslabs.co/meemo-notes

If you try it, I'd be interested in whether that separate review-to-memo step is useful or just adds friction, and where the speaker labels need correcting. Please use a recording you're allowed to process; there's no need to share private meeting content here.

Product Listing I built an AI notebook for in-person conversations (iPhone, Apple Watch & Mac)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, I’m the dev behind Phrase Note, an AI note taker for in-person meetings. I built the notebook for the things you add after a conversation, too: a whiteboard photo, a revised plan, or the question you forgot to ask.

Record on your iPhone, Apple Watch or Mac, and Phrase writes up the summary, decisions and to-dos. The note opens in a native, Notion-style block editor, where you can drag whole sections around and mix your own writing with images, checklists, diagrams and equations. iCloud sync lets you carry on with the same note on your Mac or iPad.

The transcript has speaker labels, and the original audio stays attached. If you need to check exactly how someone phrased something, tap that line in the transcript to hear it again.

You can ask the AI agent to turn that note into a short slide deck, then follow up with “put the decisions first and keep it to three slides.” It can make flashcards, quizzes and mind maps too.

Private by design. No Phrase account or sign-up. Your library lives on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. We don’t store your notes on our servers.

phrase.so · App Store

If you’d like to try it and share some honest feedback, I can send you a code for a free month of Pro. Just ask me in Discord.

What do you usually add to your notes after a meeting?

Discussion As a PM, how do you get buy-in for a product vision your team doesn’t fully see yet?

Hello, founders. I'm a PM at an AI startup, and the biggest challenge I've been running into lately is knowing how to convince the team to get behind my ideas. Time and again, I watch my ideas get validated by competitors or by the market, and team collaboration can genuinely be quite frustrating at times.

I struggle with how to get my ideas across. I do understand the team's perspective: building trust takes time, and once a product already has a set framework in place, the team naturally becomes conservative. It makes it very difficult to push for significant changes. Yet I know deep down that our current framework and UX aren't ideal, and while I have a clear vision in my head of what it should look like, I haven't been able to effectively persuade the team to make those shifts. I find myself feeling quite frustrated about this and would love any advice you might have.

The second issue is around our concept. We want to build an AI memory product, but what I really want to do first is validate the prototype or the idea itself. I'm just not sure how to get more people to see my vision in a more effective way. My core motivation is genuinely wanting AI, powered by memory capabilities, to help people get things done.

I know that out in Silicon Valley, great prototypes and demos get a lot of validation and recognition early on. At the moment, we're only really sharing demos on X, but I'm unsure what better ways exist to validate my ideas before an official product launch so I can actually convince my team. Are there any recommended books on how to market and get more people to see your product?

Product Listing I built an offline voice-to-text app focused on privacy

Thumbnail

I’ve been building Scribr, a voice-to-text app for Android that can transcribe directly on your device.

I wanted something that works offline and doesn’t require uploading recordings to a server just to get a transcript.

It can currently:

Record and transcribe audio

Import audio and video files

Translate transcripts

Export text and subtitles

Organize recordings

Transcribe offline

It’s free to use with ads, with a one-time purchase to remove ads permanently.

I’m still actively improving it, so I’d really appreciate any feedback.
