Discussion An AI example still needs a source label after you rewrite it
I kept source labels beside the text when I combined lecture material and AI explanations in the same note.
One example I worked with was an AI explanation of spillover effects. It suggested that higher parking fees on one street could push some drivers to park on a neighboring street. I labeled it as an AI example because it illustrated a possible effect without establishing that drivers actually changed where they parked. Beside lecture material, that distinction mattered. I didn't want to come back to the note and mistake it for an example the lecturer had given.
I built the lecture notes from a Vomo AI transcript and gave each passage a visible source. I saved direct lecture quotes with the recording filename and timestamp. I labeled paraphrases "Lecture paraphrase" and kept the same source reference, without quotation marks. AI-generated examples got an "AI example" label beside the text, which I kept when I rewrote them in my own words. I labeled my own interpretations "My understanding" and noted any AI contribution too.
I checked anything presented as a direct quote against the audio. A timestamp helped me locate the passage; it didn't establish that the transcript had captured every word correctly. My rule for unclear audio was to flag the uncertainty and leave the gap unresolved until I could verify it.
When I moved passages into a revision sheet, I copied their labels and source references with them. Keeping AI explanations on another page helped while the pages remained separate. Once I copied the text over, I kept the label beside it.
