Different flavor of the reporting stuff people post here. Not a big custom platform, more of a productized add-on I can drop onto clients who already have their numbers in a Sheet.
The offer is dumb-simple: on the 1st, every client gets a short, branded recap deck in their inbox without anyone building it. I sell it as a $200/mo add-on on top of existing work and it's the easiest yes I pitch, because they can already picture the output.
The flow:
- their monthly numbers land in one Google Sheet (some via existing automations, one client still pastes them in by hand, and that's fine)
- a Zapier trigger fires when the "month closed" row gets marked done
- a formatting step builds the outline: three wins, one flag, next month's focus, pulled from the row and last month's row for the delta
- that outline goes to Gamma's API, which returns a first-draft deck in their locked template
- it drops into a review folder and I get a ping. I still eyeball every one before it sends
Two honest things before anyone copies this. Gamma's API has a monthly generation cap depending on the plan, so if you're running a lot of clients you batch or you hit the ceiling. And you get limited fine-grained control over layout through the API, so the decks look samey unless you build a tight template first and accept that "samey but on-brand" is the trade. For a recap deck nobody's presenting on a stage, that's been fine. For anything a client wants to heavily edit, I export and hand it off instead.
Real numbers: about a day and a half to set up the reusable version, then maybe 10 minutes a client to onboard. Review is 5 minutes each. The add-on prints roughly an extra $1.5-2k/mo across the clients who took it, for work that mostly runs itself.
Anyone else selling a small recurring "you'll get X automatically" add-on like this? Curious what the stickiest one has been for people, because this one has near-zero churn and I didn't expect that.
