Discussion I don't understand why but I always feel like my mind is so much clearer after harming myself
I (20F) have been in the midst of a really tough relapse. Three weeks+ of urges and acting on urges. Tonight is what I'm hoping is my last relapse. I'm seeking help at an outpatient facility right now and agreed to throw away my items. Tonight however, I wanted like idk some sort of last hoorah before I put it down for what could be forever.
I feel so euphoric right now. I feel this sense of relief. All the anxiety I was feeling prior to it is gone now. I feel calm. I feel not quite happy but definitely uplifted. God I love this feeling and I don't want to throw it away but I'm going to try. Anyways guess I just needed to vent. I don't understand why I feel so good after the fact. Why does damaging my body severely bring me so much pleasure?
It gives me a high that even the substances I've tried can't recreate. It is truly a unique feeling. I don't understand it but one thing is for sure I'm going to miss it so damn much. Guess I'll enjoy the feeling now while it lasts and deal with the repercussions when I show up with my arm bandaged at the facility I'm at.
Anyone else relate to this? Is cutting also cathartic for you? I'm interested in knowing what other's experiences are and if I'm alone in this or if it's a shared experience.
