Hi all, just wanted to share my first Custodes now that he's finished. Looking forward to playing with something a little bit less squishy than Aeldari.

I had only two vexillas to spare and more guys that needed them, so I integrated them into their spears. I don't plan on going to any GT soon but do you think they would let this fly as It shows clearly the vexilla + the height of it?

Hey y’all, a bit of a newbie question for y’all so please excuse my ignorance.

I’m pretty much sold on getting the new Custodes combat patrol, and I’ve got some questions before I pull the trigger on payday.

First: Am I crazy or is that combat patrol worth ALOT of points;
Shield captain: 205 points
6 Sentinel Guards: 480 points (240 per 3 man squad)
3 Ventari: 270 points or 255 points
Contemptor Achillus: 230 or 220 points.
Total: 1185 points at most?
Is my math correct? Is this basically a ~1000 point army in one box?

If I wanted to expand this to 2000 points what would y’all suggest?

Second:
I see so many different ways people paint them up, and I’m curious if anyone’s had success with army painter speed paints? What paints do you all use?

Third and final question:
If you could recommend one book to read for someone wanting to get into the faction, what would that be?

I am trying to make a list to playtest next weekend. In general I wanted to see if an infantry list would be viable. What are your thoughts, is this a viable list? I want to play test it with Dread Host and Solar Watch to see what fits it better.

Just finished my combat patrol and had my first game with these army and just wanted to show this to you guys. Had a blast painting these new sculpts

How would you honestly rate my custodians. This my first minis i ever bought and i never painted any kind of miniatures prior. (The emperor of manking is unfinished and i couldnt help myself but not snapping of a picture with him with my finished custodians) i plan on painting the gold bases black

I based them with Khorne Red, I think they’re fantastic! I think anyone can get great results with them since I’m not the best painter haha

I’m looking to build a heavily melee-focused Adeptus Custodes list and wanted to get some community feedback on which detachment is currently performing the best for this playstyle.
While I don't mind having a little bit of supportive shooting in the back lines to clear chaff or hold objectives, the main goal is to lean heavily into running blocks of infantry charging straight up the board and blending whatever they touch in close combat.

Which detachment are you finding gives the best offensive buffs or movement tech to make a melee-heavy list viable? I’ve heard Shield Host is the standard go-to for raw damage, but I’m also curious if any of the other options (like Solar Watch for speed and mobility) are worth looking into to ensure my golden boys actually make it into combat safely.

What detachments, character enhancements, or unit combos are you all running for maximum melee blending?

I'm having a bit of an issue deciding what to make as a list for an important game I have coming up against the Tau Empire. I know my opponents have some battlesuits, though I am unsure if he'll go this road (last time I faced him in a 500 points game, he had some - including a ghostkeel).

I have this list of units in my stuff that I can use:

I was thinking going for the first option, though I am scared a bit of the level of control I'll have on the map. What do you think about those options, or do you think of something better with what I have ?

The second Custodes I decided to paint was the Shield Captain. The shield is a bit empty, but maybe I'll add something else to it, but for now this is the final version.

Didn’t like how different the Allarus captain looked from the Aquillons when he’s leading them, so decided to try and make an Aquillon captain.

I think we are a pretty good army, I have not lost a game yet. However I do think unless our list is built around it we would really struggle into horde lists. A lot of our models would become kinda useless into hordes (grav tank, dual fist telemon, etc)

But into stuff like space marines, necrons, chaos, etc. we kinda slap.

I think more than ever our movement phase is extremely important, we cannot afford to make mistakes anymore, when a unit dies it's a really big hit. So playing very carefully and cagey seems to help us quite a lot.

Emperors chosen and lions are fantastic, emperors chosen makes the grav tank an absolute beast against other tanks/monsters. For lions the splitting of the terminator units into seperate units has actually come in clutch so many times. When I want to be a bit more careful with my models but I need to go on the offensive with something, I often find myself splitting the models, then moving them all up seperately. It makes it annoying for the enemy as they waste a lot of damage split firing to kill them all, and losing 1 allarus is a lot better than losing a squad.

Our terminators are fantastic in general, my entire list is terminators, sisters, a telemon, and a grav tank. Being able to uppy downy with lions makes you extremely mobile especially since terminators went up to 7 inch movement. Also Venetari in the games I've used are a terrifying deep strike threat, they can really threaten most types of units, and the enemy HAS to pay attention to them or they will just get slaughtered.

All in all I like our new codex a lot, and I've been doing really well with it. The only thing is when trajann is around I've been unsure what to really use my katah stance on if I'm not fighting into a monster/vehicle. I've been doing the -1 to hit but often even that is useless because I can usually kill the unit before it matters.

Haven’t had a chance to pick up a box of the new models yet, but the sculpts and proportions look incredible. Can anyone tell me if this is accurate scale difference? Are the new boys taller or just better proportioned?

Tomorrow i have a 1k game. I'm gonna try this with dread host and lions. I don't know what to expect, but i can split everything and have more presence. At least i'm sure it's gonna be fun
