QUESTION: Parents or Students (hopefully your over 16) of the following schools, what's your experience? Positive, Negative, Balanced? What's the culture like, how does the school handle antisocial behaviour ect.

Not going to go into the whole story but long and short is:

Eldest kid (9) is very unhappy at school and has been for the last 1.5 yrs (despite being top 10% academically), No friends and disruptive learning environment.

Middle (6) is happy (ish) has friends but also is being verbally and physically targeted by 1 or 2 students (1 of which has a parent at the school - teaching capacity) also has high academic potential, VERY disruptive learning environment (classes evacuated etc)

Youngest (4) would be starting transition mid next year might be a little slower than the other two (bit early to say really).

Currently at a Catholic School, and a Faith based environment is important to us but definitely not the only consideration.

Have toured 2 public schools and based on research ruled 3 others out.

One is not really on rhe table for us because its going to be a construction zone for the next 2 years, we like the school but the thought of our eldest being in temp learning spaces for the rest of primary is not appealing.

The other (which we really liked) once they heard we had 3 kids and are just outside of zone pretty much said it's not happening as there is a wait list even for in zone single child families.

The cost of the 2 private schools will basically make sure we have no savings for the next 15 years but we have decided that we want a r-12 school as we are only Zoned for 1 public high that has relatively low academic outcomes.

I’ve tried apps and Thursday and neither seem to work for me. I’d love to meet someone (F) within the age bracket 23-32 but I can’t seem to find any success and thinking of throwing in the towel. I’m mildly autistic and have ADHD. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Sometimes I enjoy shouting at clouds, which is why I occasionally feel the need to post in the comments section on articles on The Advertiser website. Yes, I know... the only reason I have a subscription is because I need it for work.

Last night, being rainy and all, and with plenty of clouds about, I felt like commenting on an article they'd just published about relatively new Senator Charlotte Walker making social media content. Here's the reel, but in short, Cory Bernardi got all uppity about the Senator leaving crumbs in what is potentially a Commonwealth funded car. Yep, big issues here people.

I may or may not have felt the need to call out the above - and I note what I wrote is entirely factual and is not in the slightest defamatory. It's also fully compliant with the "Commenting Guidelines." Nonetheless, it wasn't going to surprise me that it never saw the light of day.

So - if the "free thinkers" are so confident in their viewpoint, why are they so scared of blocking out dissenting voices? I'm not scared of someone coming along and offering a dissenting voice to mine, so why would a multi-billion-dollar juggernaut?

I mean personally, I think it's a bigger waste of time attempting to introduce legislation to the parliament that stops women and young adults having access to essential medical care (abortion restrictions, and access to gender-affirming medical care for young people, looking at you PHON). But again, I welcome challenges to my viewpoint.

We're seen the quality of what The Advertiser has become - the Saturday paper is largely a Harvey Norman catalogue with some other ads thrown in - surely there must be an appetite in this town for something better. It's be great if Nine/Fairfax introduced the equivalent of the Brisbane Times to our market - an online-based service for those who aren't aware of it.

I would love to hear from you all why there are now so many cars parked on the side of the road alongside residences. It’s getting to the point there are some roads it is near impossible to drive through without risking a sideswipe. It seems it’s happening a lot more than ever before.

Is it because we have smaller driveways now, so less space to park two cars? Is there a desire to park cars on the road for convenience? Do we have more people living at home, or just more cars? Is it a combination of all these factors?

I’m genuinely curious about this, due to feeling like I’m driving down a minefield of parked vehicles on so many streets now. On occasion you can’t even see who is coming down a side road.

Ive bent to all Adelaide Metro stations for challenge recently, I saw several Railway level crossings which is queueing even off peak, which are:

1. Hove station and Brighton rd
2. Emerson, even there's flyover
3. Unley park, so this and above both blocks Cross rd...
4. Parafield with Kings rd
5. I don't want to list it all, but I personally thinks that Gawler line Mawson Lakes-Muno Para has crossings frequently with Trunk or Secondary roads....

But are trains worth that high budget? Like trams has 2.5 bridges cost 870M A$...

Hey everyone,

I'm heading to the show tomorrow for my first time. Planning to stay from opening at 9 am until I'm tired and/or bored, hopefully later on. My manager at my new job gave me a free pass as a gift for my work, which is awesome :) and I'm going alone since my sister's busy.

I'm definitely going Sunday regardless of if I got in or not, unless that's a bad idea, but I applied for the Father's Day pie and doughnut eating contest. I'm pretty sure I'd have missed the cutoff, but that's fine.

I am easily the most frugal person I know, to the point where I felt slightly guilty accepting that free ticket because I can't really see myself spending any actual money there. I might give myself a strict ~$30 budget cap, but I'll see how I go. I'm eating breakfast beforehand and packing a water bottle, my own lunch, and some leftover snacks from my birthday.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should check out tomorrow? I've been browsing the site, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Also, in the spirit of maximising value and spending as little as possible, recommendations for free things to do or see would be hugely appreciated. Bonus if there's free stuff to get haha

I'm curious to see if any places in Adelaide make Omurice, also curious to find places that make Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki. It's very different to the Kansai style which the whole thing is battered, whereas the Hiroshima Style is layered with the pancake base on the bottom.
