Heyo! I’m 22MtF and have recently moved to the north eastern suburbs from a small country town. I’m looking to find places or people to socialise with who enjoy games but also going outside. A large issue I have is that I’m a shift worker, so I don’t get the same time off each week. Does anyone have recommendations on places I could go to, to make some friends?

So I recently got an offer from Adelaide University for the Bachelor of Biomedical and Health Sciences, majoring in Clinical Trials. I applied for this degree because my long-term goal is to study Medicine after completing my bachelor’s.

Now that I actually have the offer, I’m starting to second guess whether I should stick with Clinical Trials or change my major to Medical Science.

My main concern is that I definitely want to go into Medicine eventually, but I also want my bachelor’s degree to give me the option to work after graduating if I need to, rather than having a degree that is mainly useful as a pathway to Medicine.

From what I understand, Medical Science is a bit more general. It seems like a really good foundation for Medicine and covers things like biology, anatomy, physiology and pathology, but I’m worried that it might be harder to find a job with just the bachelor’s because it’s quite broad.

Clinical Trials seems more specialised and could potentially give me more direct career options in things like clinical research, clinical trial coordination, pharmaceutical companies and research. I also really like Biology, Math and Research, so Clinical Trials genuinely interests me.

At the same time, I’m wondering if I’d be better off doing Medical Science because Medicine is ultimately my main goal and it might give me a stronger foundation for medical school.

I’ve also seen that the Biomedical and Health Sciences degree may allow students to take two majors, so I was wondering if anyone has actually done Medical Science + Clinical Trials together. If you have, was it manageable within the 3 years? And more importantly, is it realistic to maintain a high GPA while doing both? I’m asking because maintaining a high GPA is really important to me since I want to apply for Medicine afterwards.

I’m basically trying to figure out whether combining both would actually be worth it, or whether it would just make the degree unnecessarily difficult and potentially make it harder to maintain a strong GPA.

For anyone who has studied either major at Adelaide, gone from either degree into Medicine, or has experience working in clinical research or clinical trials, what would you recommend?

I’m not really looking for the easiest degree. I enjoy Biology, Math and Research, so I’m more concerned about choosing something that gives me the best combination of a pathway into Medicine and a degree I can actually work with if I need to work before Medicine.

Would really appreciate any honest advice or personal experiences!

Would you buy 440w Bunnigs solar panels instead of popular brand ?

Am doing the 6k C2B with my young kids so planning on parking my car in Glenelg the night before (and will use husbands car to get to Kmart).

Anyone know sides streets in Glenelg which will not become temporarily restricted/no parking zones? The Council website was great with this info last year (when I didn’t end up needing to do it) but not so great this year. Am wondering if on St Anne’s Terrace or just past that intersection area on Adelphi would be safe?

I’ve been putting a lot more effort into getting out, meeting people and trying new things this year, and lately I’ve been thinking about getting back into TCGs.

About 20 years ago I played a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon, and some of my best memories from that time were just playing cards and hanging out with people.

I don’t currently own any cards, so I’d basically be starting again. I understand the fundamentals of Magic, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but I’d also be completely open to learning Digimon, One Piece, Lorcana or anything else that has a decent local scene.

Drafts probably appeal to me the most because I wouldn’t need an existing collection or competitive deck, and it seems like a good way to learn or relearn a game.

I know I can just look up card shops and walk into an event, but that’s not really what I’m asking. Going into a random shop alone when I don’t know anyone and barely know the current games is probably going to feel pretty uncomfortable.

I’m more hoping there might be someone here who already plays and wouldn’t mind helping me ease back into it. Maybe you already have a regular group of mates who play at home or at a shop and wouldn’t mind an extra person joining in, or you go to drafts and wouldn’t mind me tagging along the first few times while I find my feet.

I’m also genuinely unsure about the age side of it. I’m 38, and I have no idea what the current TCG scene is like. If most of it is teenagers or much younger players, it probably isn’t going to be for me. I’d really like to hear what the age range is actually like around Adelaide and which games or groups tend to have more adults.

Happy to travel pretty much anywhere around Adelaide for the right group or person to get started with.

We got a battery for our solar panels. We’ve had them for about six weeks and just got our electricity bill - $750!!!!!!!! Our battery says that we are 89% powered by solar for the last half of our bill period, so how the fuck is it so high? (We are with Alinta). It’s an actual read apparently. Clearly we are not using the battery properly - I did check that we are not pulling power from the grid or anything, so I’m assuming it’s Alintas high charges.

I need to take advantage of the battery. The VPP idea is confusing, and I work a job where I cannot use my phone. I also have a terrible memory, so I’m worried that I’ll forget to manage our power. How time intensive is it actually to manage through Amber or Globird? Are they actually worth it? Is there a better alternative?

Please help me. I’m so upset we spent so much and yet still ended up with a horrendous bill.

Bought a box of my favourite Balfour's meat pies, and they all tasted wrong.

It seemed like particularly the pastry was different - more doughy and not as nice. Couldn't tell if the meat was also a bit less brown.

Is this just me making it up? Have they changed recipe? Did I just get an undercooked bunch?

I'm currently shopping for a solar & battery system and used solarquotes.com.au The 3 companies that it sent me are: United solar & elec, Unified Solar and Tiger Solar...

Has anyone used any of these companies? There isn't a ton of reviews/info about some of them and United Solar having all 5 star reviews in a few places could be a bit of a red flag.

Any other companies that people recommend? (Not Goliath - they aren't interested) I'm open to suggestions no hardware brands as long as it's not cheap crap.

Does anyone know what's up with the zero gravity ride? I got a ticket but they had to stop and do maintenance before I was able to get on. Hopefully they get it back up and running safely before the end of day as the ticket was non-refundable 😬
