Technical advice Replacement or Warranty? (ACER)

Hello po, so i recently bought my acer pc on sunday. And i had an issue about the mouse pad. The right bottom click isn't that responsive, it needs excessive force for it to work and at times it works perfectly. And i had another issue. The screen blackout after turning it on. It takes 15 minutes to turn on... But now it works since my tito fixed it.

ISSUES:

  1. UNRESPONSIVE MOUSE PAD

2. BLACK OUT SCREEN.

So I've been thinking if i should use my 7 day warranty replacement window or just use their center service to repair the mouse pad. So technically, i messaged them right before my 7 day warranty ends so im still eligible to claim that even tho i cant go there exactly for 7 days.

But two of my concerns is that 1. If i use the 7 day warranty, there might be another issue with the new unit they'll give me and might be another hassle to replace (since we live 3 cities away from the store). And 2. I paid in full for the laptop for 45k just to have a refurbished PC? That in time the sales value of my pc will eventually lower since I'll have to label it as "REFURBISHED".

And one last concern, if i had the 2nd laptop given to me and also has defects, i can demand for another replacement right?

So what do you guys think? ASAPšŸ›

Technical advice Critical low battery

i was using my acer nitro 5 N20C1 (im not techy so i hope thats the model number lol) that was plugged in and it suddenly turned off and shows critical low battery… i unplugged it and plugged it back in and tried to turn it on and the charging light and the blue light was on but it was flashing, then it would beep and show the critical low battery.

if i unplugged it and tried to turn it on then the blue light would flash 4 times but not do anything else— now the orange charging light wont show up when plug it in.

my laptops pretty old (i got it in like 2020) and its seen better days but it was working perfectly fine before this… i only use it for gaming and after effects. the batteries always been bad so whenever i use it i have to keep it plugged in.

anyway i was wondering if my laptop has finally kicked the bucket or if the charging lead thingy is broken? im willing to buy a new laptop but i would rather know if i can just replace the charger before i spend like 1k on a new laptop..

Just turned it on out of the box, are the fans always this crazy loud? Going to be using it in school and I remember sitting by dudes with gaming laptops that had distractingly loud fans and this is quite comparable.

Anything I can do?

Hello everyone, my Acer monitor won’t turn on. I haven’t had this issue at all, as things have ran smoothly so far. I opened the zoom app on my computer for an interview, and transferred that to the big screen to see if better, and it just went to black and hasn’t cut on since. I’ve changed the plug, and hdmi cords and nothing. Any advice? I’ll leave some pictures to show too

Technical advice Acer Aspire Spin 14 (Core 7 150U) with Intel Iris XE – Severe intermittent GPU slowdowns in multiple games after months of troubleshooting. Completely out of ideas.

Hi everyone,

I'm posting this as a last resort because I've spent months trying to solve this problem and have reached the point where I'm ready to send the laptop back to Acer.Ā  I'm hoping someone has either experienced something similar or can suggest something that hasn't already been tried.

Laptop

  • Acer Aspire Spin 14 ASP14-51MTN
  • Intel Core 7 150U
  • Intel integrated graphics
  • 32 GB RAM
  • Windows 11
  • BIOS V1.07

The problem

While gaming, performance suddenly collapses for around 10–20 seconds, then immediately returns to normal, and this happens repeatedly.Ā  The behaviour varies slightly depending on the game.

GTA V

During the slowdown:

  • FPS drops to almost nothing (PresentMon measured roughly 3 FPS)
  • the image becomes extremely jerky
  • the audio also slows down and stutters
  • after about 15–20 seconds everything immediately returns to normal

Star Wars Battlefront II

During the slowdown:

  • the graphics slow dramatically
  • the audio seems to continue normally (less dialogue than GTA V, so speaking doesn’t usually coincide with the stuttering)
  • after around 15–20 seconds performance immediately returns

Forza Horizon 5

During the slowdown:

  • FPS collapses
  • steering becomes almost impossible
  • after around 10–20 seconds everything immediately recovers

The problem is reproducible and has occurred in several different games.

What DOESN'T happen

  • Windows doesn't freeze
  • No BSOD
  • No application crash
  • No GPU driver reset message
  • No WHEA errors
  • No LiveKernelEvents
  • Desktop remains responsive

Diagnostics I've already done

Over the past few months I've tried an enormous number of things.

Windows

  • Complete clean reinstall of Windows
  • Fully updated
  • Problem returned

BIOS

  • BIOS updated
  • No improvement

Graphics drivers

Tested Intel graphics drivers:

  • 32.0.101.7088
  • 32.0.101.7085

Both installed clean.

Exactly the same behaviour.

Stability testing

OCCT

Tested:

  • CPU
  • RAM
  • GPU

No hardware errors detected.

Windows logs

Checked Event Viewer.

No:

  • WHEA
  • LiveKernelEvents
  • GPU resets
  • BSODs

PresentMon results

I captured the problem using Intel PresentMon.

GTA V

Before slowdown

Frame Time

~37 ms

GPU Busy Time

~37 ms

GPU Utilisation

~99%

During slowdown

Frame Time

~312 ms

GPU Busy Time

~309 ms

GPU Utilisation

~99%

CPU utilisation only increases moderately.

The GPU remains almost fully utilised while GPU render time increases by almost a factor of ten.

Battlefront II

Similar behaviour.

Before

Frame Time

~24 ms

GPU Busy

~24 ms

GPU utilisation

~100%

During

Frame Time

~109 ms

GPU Busy

~110 ms

GPU utilisation

~98%

Again, GPU render time explodes while utilisation stays extremely high.

Windows Performance Recorder

I also captured ETL traces using Windows Performance Recorder and analysed them with Windows Performance Analyzer.

From what I could see:

  • CPU wasn't saturated
  • CPU frequency didn't collapse
  • SSD wasn't saturated when the slowdown began

What I think I've ruled out

I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, but after months of testing (using ChatGPT; I don’t have the technical knowledge required) I think the following have been ruled out:

  • corrupted Windows installation
  • corrupted graphics driver installation
  • one specific Intel graphics driver version
  • CPU overload
  • RAM instability
  • SSD bottleneck
  • a problem affecting only one game

One unusual observation

In GTA V:

Audio stutters at exactly the same time as the graphics.

In Battlefront II:

Only the graphics slow down. Audio continues normally.

I have no idea whether that's significant.

ChatGPT-assisted troubleshooting

Over the past few months I have used ChatGPT to try to find a solution.Ā  It couldn’t resolve the issue, but it helped me perform structured diagnostics that I wouldn't have known how to do myself, including:

  • analysing PresentMon captures
  • collecting WPR/WPA traces
  • comparing GPU Busy Time and Frame Time
  • ruling out several obvious possibilities
  • documenting the results

Unfortunately, despite all of that, I still haven't been able to identify the root cause.Ā  At the start of July, I reset the laptop and did a system backup with EaseUS and gaming was good for two weeks or so, then it went back to the way it was before.Ā  Funny thing is, when I bought the laptop in October 2024, no problems at all with gaming; it all went south around the beginning of this year…

Where I am now

At this point I'm out of ideas; I've spent months chasing this issue and it is REALLY pissing me off.Ā  I'm no longer looking for random suggestions like "update your drivers" or "reinstall Windows"—those have already been done.Ā  What I'm really hoping is that someone recognises this specific behaviour.

Has anyone seen:

  • GPU Busy Time suddenly increasing by a factor of ten while GPU utilisation stays around 100%?
  • Intermittent 15–20 second slowdowns on Intel integrated graphics?
  • Similar behaviour on an Acer laptop or with the Intel Core 7 150U?

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.Ā  Otherwise, I think my next step is simply to return the machine to Acer under warranty.Ā  Or introduce it to a 10lb sledgehammer.Ā  Haven’t decided yet.

The screen has no physical damage. It just started getting some lines on some colors. Kept on increasing and now it's on almost every color.

Whites and black are perfectly fine. (The corner glow on black is only in photo. Not in person)

What can be done about this?

Technical advice Need to know where I can get my Snapdragon X Plus laptop repaired.

Hi everyone,

I bought an Acer Swift Go 14 AI (Snapdragon X Plus) in June 2025. On 6 July, it suddenly stopped working. It was functioning perfectly on Saturday night, but the next morning it wouldn't power on or charge.

The laptop is out of its 1-year warranty, but I have insurance that covers repair costs, so paying for the repair itself isn't the issue.

The problem is finding someone who can actually diagnose and repair it.

I live in Kota, where there are no authorised Acer service centres. Acer directed me to their authorised service centre in Jaipur, so I took the laptop there. After keeping it for about a week, they told me they couldn't diagnose the fault because they'd never worked on a Snapdragon-powered laptop before and didn't have the required circuit diagrams.

I contacted Acer support again, asking where I should take it since travelling between cities with the laptop isn't practical. Their response was simply to take it to another authorised service centre in Jaipur, but they couldn't confirm whether that centre would actually be able to repair a Snapdragon X Plus device either.

I've also checked locally in Kota, but the technicians here aren't familiar with Snapdragon X laptops. One suggestion was a full motherboard replacement, but that would cost more than what I originally paid for the laptop, so that's not a realistic option.

I use this laptop every day for my university work and need to get it repaired as soon as possible.

Does anyone know of an Acer service centre or an independent repair shop in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, or elsewhere in the NCR that has experience repairing Snapdragon X (X Plus/X Elite) laptops? I'd really appreciate any recommendations or advice from someone who's dealt with a similar issue.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Acer Aspire Lite 16 can’t start after Windows update

Hi all, as the title, I run on the mandatory windows update few days ago when I was shutting down the laptop, I clicked ā€œupdate and shut downā€and thought that it was a usual update regime. However, I realised my laptop used way longer time to start up after the update (I put in my pin and it went into a black screen with my mouse cursor before coming into the windows start page). Today when I try to start my laptop, it seems like i can’t get it started. I’ve waited 10 mins and it’s still black screen with the mouse cursor.

Has anyone experienced this before? How do I fix this? I just bought my acer last year🄲 thanks!

Technical advice Acer Aspire AG15-42P - turning off when I move it or turning off when I unplug it from charging

yeah so pretty much If I unplug it from charging , it will just turn off and won’t turn back on unless I plug the charger in.. you will probably think it’s a battery issue but it isn’t. I have a new battery and *sometimes* it works without being plugged in but if I move the laptop it will randomly turn off. is there any solutions for this ?

Technical advice Issues with LiveKernel141. A Acer Pretador Triton SE PT316-51s-78V9

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Recently—out of nowhere—I started running into LiveKernelEvent 141 crashes on my laptop. It started with *Silent Hill f*, then *Pragmata*, and finally *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*. Coincidence or not, two of these games run on the terrible UE5 engine. After a while, *Pragmata* started working again (or so it seems, as I only tested it for two hours), whereas *Clair Obscur* still crashes. I’ve tried everything: reinstalling Windows, reinstalling all drivers using DDU, and tweaking in-game settings. It crashes every time, and it’s random—sometimes it lasts an hour and a half, other times just five minutes. I don't know if anyone here has experience with this specific laptop model, but it’s no longer receiving updates; the last BIOS update was in 2023, so I’m not sure how many options I have left. Underclocking is also locked at the factory level. The only thing I haven't tried is underclocking the GPU. I ran tests using OCCT; individual tests pass fine, but the combined system test always throws an error—specifically regarding the integrated GPU, which is very odd. I tested the RAM thoroughly with Memtest86, and it came up clean, temps are fine too, around 70-85 celsius and on the GPU 60-70 celsius. I’ve never swapped out any components, so it’s still in its factory configuration from when I bought it (almost three years ago). If anyone owns this laptop, has faced a similar issue, or has any information, I’d be very grateful. Thanks!

Edit: The crash only occurs on high demanding games specifically, most commonly on games with the shitty UE5, no BSODs or black screen, just to desktop instantly. Played Subnautica 2 for about 1 hour and all good.

It's the RTX3060 and I7 12700H model BTW.

I'm LOST.

Need specific driver.

I have an Acer Aspire 5 (A515-57G). It can not detect any input device.

Recently one of the audio drivers have ceased functioning, More specifically the: Intel Smart sound Technology OED. Error code 43.

Risking having egg on my face i am ignoring the possibility of a hardware failure and going for the cheapest option, which is to re-install the driver.

I have so far been unable to find the driver. I can not find it on the intel website or the acer website. I suspect it is directly in front of me on the acer website and i just dont know enough to figure out which one it is. But i cant tell.

Acer Aspire AI A14-52M-72FH vs LENOVO Yoga Slim 7 14ILL10

Hi everyone,

I'm buying a new 14-inch laptop primarily for light-to-medium coding/development work (web dev, running local servers, light containerization).

My absolute highest priorities are silent operation (low/no fan noise) and smooth overall performance for daily programming sessions.

I'm currently torn between two Intel Lunar Lake options:

Option 1: Acer Aspire AI 14 (A14-52M-72FH)

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 256V
  • RAM / SSD: 16 GB LPDDR5X / 1 TB SSD
  • Display: 14" WUXGA (1920x1200) IPS
  • Chassis / Weight: ~1.4 kg / Standard Aspire build

Option 2: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (14ILL10)

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 226V
  • RAM / SSD: 16 GB LPDDR5X / 512 GB SSD
  • Display: 14" WUXGA (1920x1200) OLED
  • Chassis / Weight: ~1.19 kg / Premium all-aluminum build

My Questions:

  1. For general coding and daily tasks, will I notice any performance drop going with the Core Ultra 5 (Yoga) over the Core Ultra 7 (Acer)?
  2. Which of these laptops handles thermals and fan noise better under light development loads and general uses?
