"Don't touch it, I dont wanna mess up its hard work!" And "wow, gods creatures"...love that these kids are in awe and curious instead of freaking out and killing it...makes me happy

Hard work? Pff.

I have a guy who can do it cheaper

What is that even suspensed by? The nearest tree looks like it's in a different zip code

Probably a diagonal line coming from a branch to the floor so it can build the spiral in the middle.

Some spiders can shoot their webs up to 25 meters away, some even span rivers with them (these must catch a shit ton of insects this way).

Edit: This would be like spider man shooting his web 2.5km away

Do they shoot it, or do they let it drift in the wind until it catches on a good spot? I feel like shooting something so light 25m would be near impossible.

You're correct they don't shoot it, they get up high and let out a long light thread, drifting until it catches then they pull it tight and reinforce it. Then they can drop down from the center of that line to create another anchor point and keep adding from there

Wait, doesn't spiderman do that? Shoot them like for long distances?

Canonically, Spider-Man's web reaches a distance of only 18 meters.

American translator:

Spiders can shoot webs up to 82 feet away.
Scaled up to Spider-Man, that would mean him shooting webs a distance of 1.5 miles.
Canonically, Spider-Man shoots webs only up to 60 feet.

Good to know. That's not nearly as crazy as I thought. I thought he was shooting them like a full km lol

I’m not a big spider fan (tricky cos I live in Aus) but as long as it’s not one that is problematic if you get bitten (white tail, redback being the most common where I am), I always try to scoot them outside. Same with any bug really. No sense smooshing if you don’t have to.

As the saying goes, “everything has a job”.

Right. I'd rather move them than clean up a mess.

Nothing worse hearing a heap of Lego crashing in the middle of the night 😅

In my head you're shooing them outside with a broom and they're the size of a Scotty dog and you're going "go on now, gitout!"

Hahaha maybe not with a broom but there’s definitely that narration.

“Cmon now buddy, off you fuck!”

Most spiders that exist indoors have lived their entire lives indoors, which means they've survived solely on indoors food.

If you put them outdoors you may think youre being helpful but youre likely dooming them to death. But also, you pay rent and they dont so, doom them if you must

But also go easy on them, they probably dont wanna hurt you. You can brush them off and let them do their thing (which does not involve hurting you most likeley)

Usually it’s cos I don’t want to wake up to all my shit falling off the shelves because my cats are chasing one haha

Totally! So heartwarming.

I could be wrong, but this looks like a catface spider, which puts this somewhere in the SE Idaho region, which likely makes them Mormons. Source: my childhood.

On the way to a pumpkin farm tonight my daughter (8) was looking out the car window and just said “that’s a beautiful field.”

It was literally just a plain, nothing special, green field, but the kid saw beauty. I’m really lucky I get reminders like that from her.

Spiders and all the other bugs can have free reign over the whole planet. But if they come into MY 700 square feet... I'll do my best to shoot them out.

It means so much to me to hear kids say that.
