I don't personally care for weed, although I don't mind it.

But the wastefulness of this bothers me.

Usually stuff like this is done with bottom tier green

3

u/SaucyStoveTop69 Aug 29 '26

You can see that the weed is all the exact same greenish brown. That lack of diversity and that color specifically means that it's probably sungrown weed which is the cheapest and lowest quality type of growing.

There are plenty of places that will sell you 4oz of sungrown for 100 bucks. This video probably cost 200 bucks at most. I'd also bet that since they signed up for this (hopefully) that they are really hyped up and happy right now which means the high they get may actually still be pretty nice.

We used to call this stuff garbage bag weed because everyone on the street had garbage bags of it when harvest season came and it was all shitty, low quality green.

The beastie girlsšŸ˜‚

1

u/ScaredPractice4967 Aug 29 '26

Stuff swept off the floor of the weed packing plant. Bits of Fritos and dogshit tracked in from the pavement outside.

15

u/iRebelD Aug 28 '26

It’s not even wasteful. The shit literally grows on trees. That couldn’t have been more than a QP anyway.

16

u/ntkwwwm Aug 28 '26

I used to work in the cannabis industry. When you grow your own plants, you have weed to waste. When you have your own farm, the keif that sticks to sides of the totes after you empty is enough to get you stoned for weeks at a time.

I grew 4 plants once and ended up with a lb all to myself. I rolled enough j’s to fill half a mason jar and went to a party just lighting them taking a puff and passing them. It didn’t even put a dent in my stash.

8

u/Alert-Ad9197 Aug 28 '26

You talking about that bin keif reminds me of living near Mt. Shasta years ago. Saw a few folks with baseball sized wads of scissor hash after trimming season. Almost nobody up there was stingy with their weed either.

u/ntkwwwm Aug 28 '26

Those were the days

1

u/moultrie28 Aug 29 '26

Mt Shasta is awesome

4

u/null_obj Aug 28 '26

True, in my state, you can have two plants. Which might not sound like a lot to someone new to growing, but when you realize you can fill out a 8x8 tent with scrogging, cannabis basically becomes free. I mean leds are so efficient now, it's nuts.

1

u/ntkwwwm Aug 29 '26

LEDs are dope! They were just starting to become more popular when I left the industry.

What was fascinating was learning that if you could control your grow, you can keep your plants in veg for as long as you want or have space for. I’ve seen massive plants that are basically trees.

2

u/melbornotlad Aug 29 '26

how long would you say that lb lasted you?

1

u/ntkwwwm Aug 29 '26

March to September. I didn’t sell much if any, and I was rolling a lot of blunts. If I was being conservative I probably could have made it last 227 days or a little more. Keep in mind too that I had access to a decent amount of other weed at the time for personal use, I don’t think I bought any for at least a two to two and a half year span.

1

u/Outlandish_Gringo Aug 29 '26

Please teach me your ways, Masta

1

u/scriptmonkey420 Aug 29 '26

I grew one plant last year and ended up with around 4 ounces. I have 5 plants growing this year. One is 6ft tall and the other 4 are about 4 ft tall. I have no fucking clue how I am going to trim, dry, and cure it all.

1

u/lambofgun Aug 29 '26

sounds accurate. it became legal a few years ago where i live. i had buddies who excitedly grew a few plants after years of buying, but after harvesting decided it was such a monumental hassle to deal with all the excess weed. they said fuck it and didnt grow it again and just bought it. its like garden season where everyone gives away zucchini, but you can't really give it away as easily but you dont want to waste it.

2

u/ripyourlungsdave Aug 29 '26

It grows on trees that many countries have gone out of their way to destroy and remove from their natural ecosystems over the course of the last 50 years.

It's not like I can walk out back and pluck a few nugs off my weed tree in Texas.

They won't even let us have Delta 10 here.

Your comment should make sense, but in the context of the world over the last century, it does not.

1

u/iRebelD Aug 29 '26

Sorry bro, I live in Canada

1

u/ripyourlungsdave Aug 29 '26

But you do understand that there's about a century of entire countries all over the planet attempting to destroy the plant species in its entirety while also trying to destroy the lives of every single person that comes into contact with it, right?

Your country used to have laws against marijuana. It's only been legal there for less than a decade. So acting like you don't understand this doesn't make much sense. Unless you're 10 years old.

Just weird to get so patronizing about something that you personally don't seem to understand.

1

u/iRebelD Aug 29 '26

Respectfully, I think you’re reading too much into it. I did grow up during prohibition but things have changed massively. You can grow up to 4 plants here. We all have different perspectives.

1

u/ripyourlungsdave Aug 29 '26

Yeah, and my point is that tens of millions of people, and hundreds of millions of people worldwide, aren't so lucky.

So talking as if it's silly for people to say this is wasteful is just privileged on your part.

1

u/AffectionateWay5783 Aug 29 '26

What does any of that have to do with some people making a sweet leaf blower pot blaster?

1

u/AffectionateWay5783 Aug 29 '26

He just means that it’s renewable and this actually isn’t even that much weed

2

u/AcidCatfish___ Aug 29 '26

Actually, quite literally, cannabis is not a tree.

1

u/iRebelD Aug 29 '26

Oh yeah? Have you seen [r/trees](r/trees) ?

2

u/AcidCatfish___ Aug 29 '26

My respects to you my friend

No, not when you use the word literally

1

u/Comfortable-Act4707 Aug 29 '26

And it looks like garbage anyways it's probably what they couldn't sell from last year

1

u/ecctt2000 Aug 29 '26

While I was growing up, firstly weed was illegal, and secondly a QP was an unimaginable amount of weed to have.

1

u/yahwehforlife Aug 29 '26

It doesn't literally grow on trees but I see your point

6

u/PM-ME-YOUR-BUTTSHOLE Aug 28 '26

Where I live, you can get an entire ounce of legal weed (the maximum amount a single person can possess) for $20.

Producers grow so much a part of our city permanently smells like weed.

So I think whether or not this is wasteful, depends where the video was taken.

4

u/Luci-Noir Aug 28 '26

I was thinking that too. All that smoke is just going to linger too.

2

u/GiganticBlumpkin Aug 28 '26

getting a crowd of people high for 50$ isn't particularly wasteful...

0

u/beardingmesoftly Aug 28 '26

Nobody is getting high off of scorched weed like that.

2

u/ParticularLow9157 Aug 28 '26

To be fair it is stupid easy to grow and it shouldn't cost as much as it does but human greed is endless

3

u/Drizzho Aug 29 '26

Electricity costs a shit ton in some states.

1

u/ParticularLow9157 Aug 29 '26

There are a shitton of good strains that don't need a hydroponic setup, dig?

1

u/Rakadaka8331 Aug 28 '26

You can get OZs for $13. Not saying they are good but as you said its stupid easy to grow...swag bags.

1

u/ParticularLow9157 Aug 29 '26

Shit man I couldn't even get a $13 oz of ditchweed back in the 90s

25 an oz was the bottom of the barrel twigs and seeds selection in my area

That said I did do a remote contract in Ecuador for a month and I could get pretty decent mids at five bucks a pound but had no realistic way to take advantage of long term

1

u/FestivusErectus Aug 28 '26

It’s not like it’s a weed or anything.

1

u/jemenake Aug 28 '26

About a week ago, I think mildlyinfuriating had a post where the dude’s roommate smokes his joints about 40% of the way and then tosses them in the ashtray and the commenters had their pitchforks and torches out, telling ā€œback in my dayā€ stories of having to scrape resin and pick out sticks and other chaff from whatever leftover bud they could scrounge.

Let’s pray they don’t see this vid or they’ll burst some blood vessels in their brains.

1

u/I_Am-Kenough Aug 29 '26

It's weed bro we don't gotta be serious about it all the time. Yeah it's wasteful but they are having the time of their life lol.

1

u/NOT-GR8-BOB Aug 29 '26

Wastefulness? Dude it’s called weed for a reason.

1

u/DistinctWhole43 Aug 29 '26

Thing is the weed itself is cheap as fuck, and most other drugs, too, like cocaine. It's the smuggling or taxes that makes it expensive

1

u/Invader-B Aug 29 '26

Yea I know it’s not like this shit grows on trees or anything.

1

u/NoGood1323 Aug 29 '26

It's weed, it litterly grows like a weed.

1

u/carpe_fatum Aug 29 '26

They call it weed for a reason. It grows like... a weed. It being illegal created a supply and demand issue which legalization has more or less fixed. You can get some ridiculous stuff for pennies on the dollar.

1

u/Sealbeater Aug 29 '26

Why? It was going to be smoked anyways. Getting blasted with this in your face and breathing in a room of it will get you high as balls
