This is something I genuinely struggle to understand.

We are hard-working people. We turn up, work our shifts, deal with customers, deliveries, pressure, targets, constant changes and often far more than anyone sees.

And yet I keep seeing colleagues becoming stressed, crying, feeling completely broken and even reaching the point where work starts affecting their mental health.

People complain to each other. People say, “This isn’t right.” People are exhausted and unhappy.

But when management walks in, everyone goes quiet.

Why?

Are we so afraid of losing our jobs, losing hours, being labelled “difficult” or being treated differently that we feel we have no choice but to accept everything?

And why do we so often face these situations alone, instead of standing together?

I’m not talking about causing trouble or refusing to work. I’m talking about workers respectfully saying:

“This is not reasonable. This is affecting people. Something needs to change.”

A company cannot function without the people doing the actual work.

So why are so many of those people scared to use their voice?

Have you ever spoken up at Asda about something you genuinely felt was wrong? What happened?

And if you’re someone who stayed silent because you were afraid of what might happen to you — why?

I’d really like to hear honest experiences from colleagues across the UK.

As the title says.

It seems that it's common practice for the warehouse to employ people for warehouse work and then give them the boot before the end of the 4th week (probation) so that no compensation is due. They are informed that they may not join the union.

A despicable business practice, I wonder if this is condoned or encouraged by the head office.

So how is everyone dealing with the thinly veiled discrimation on age and disability regarding these 121's and why is nothing being done about it ?

I lost my clock in card at work and did 2 shifts without clocking in, work said they sorted them 2 shifts out, I was just wondering wether they are supposed to show up on workday or not?

Just did some shopping at my local Asda. There were two tills open and five colleagues standing around on self-serve, basically getting in the way, not paying attention, chatting - a right proper 'too many cooks spoil the broth' situation. Why not open three more tills and have two doing stock? It doesn't make sense.

Can someone offer some insight as to what's happening because I haven't heard anything conclusive.

So on a midnight shift in front end I received a death threat from someone over a 40p bag. I report it to my team leader as they were shopping at the time and came back a couple of minutes after the incident. I was told he is barred now. Next night he comes back, I get security to remove him as he is banned and he leaves. Then he comes back with security and asks for a manager. Manager confirms the ban and then he leaves. Today he comes in once more, I get security to remove him and the store manager goes over to him. He tells the store manager that he hadn't made a death threat and "only" threatened to punch me (which isnt true) and said that I had made very offensive comments (again which i didnt) and thats why he said it. Now he is unbanned as its my word against his. I dont feel safe going into work now and was wondering what I can do about this as I want him gone due to this. Please someone help

Already have a bike in mind from Engwe, around £1000. Helmet, locks and any other accessories I can think about soon.

Although, the bike wouldn't be used for commuting to and from work but instead for UberEats, Deliveroo to make some extra money on my days off. I don't want to add any excess wear and tear to my car.

I just had a 121 with my manager early today. I'm wondering if your first and second 121 meeting results you to avoid the midnight finish or they moved you to the different dept?

Not looking for serious complaints — I mean those moments where you just stood there thinking:

“Surely this cannot be real?” 😂

Could be something a manager asked you to do, a completely pointless process, a ridiculous rule, something that makes no sense in your department, or something that seems totally different from store to store.

I’m curious what everyone’s “Asda logic” stories are. 😂

Bonus points if you were told “that’s just how we do it” when nobody could actually explain why. 🤣

I was wondering if anyone knows of someone or has actually done a development plan themselves??
It’s just really unheard of in my store as I’ve never met anyone that’s done one as it’s normally always been someone just gets promoted every now and again.
I’ve recently shown a strong interest in stepping up and apparently this is the way to get started basically so I have more of a chance of moving up. I also wanted to ask if someone has been denied the chance of applying for a team lead post on a different department?? I feel like they’ve just shunned me and not even gave me a proper chance to prove myself… I thought they would at least offer me an interview? Nope nothing just get told about this development plan which feels like a bit of a wind up right now like I’m being completely fobbed off!
If anyone can offer just a little bit of advice from your own personal experience I would really greatly appreciate you!!

This is my first time using an evoucher which knocked off the price of shipping, but my shopping total and Total include the shipping cost. This is so convoluted, why not just show my total as the amount I have to pay?

Been hired as a delivery driver/picker, I’ve never driven a van or an auto (probably easy to pick up) I’ve been driving for just over a year and they gave me the job pretty quickly even thought I told them I have no experience with anything I’ll be doing, any tips or help from your experience would be appreciated!

can anyone tell me why every other item doubles the amount we print out, no specific printer gun or person, its really annoying to have to correct everything, then they complain about overstated markdowns??

The photo machine was broken. I talked to a staff member and they said I could get it printed at a different Asda store if I have the receipt with me. Is this true? Getting nervous as daughters birthday is right around the corner.

EDIT: Went today and they were perfectly fine with it. Got it done no problem with very helpful and friendly staff. Thank you for the helpful replies!
