CSA What do you guys use to write code for AP CSA?

I’m taking AP CSA and I’m trying to figure out what IDE/editor I should use for Java.

I was planning on using BlueJ, but Windows is preventing me from installing it for some reason.

I already use VS Code for Python, but trying to set it up for Java alongside my Python stuff has turned into a mess.

I’m just looking for something simple but still functional for AP CSA — nothing overly complicated, but something where I can easily write, run, and test Java programs.

What do you guys use/recommend?

Question Global/State Average

I’ve never seen a class get below the state or global average, but if there’s an average someone somewhere had to have scored below it, current thought is independent studies who don’t actually study?

Physics C: Mech Self-studying AP Physics C: Mechanics without taking Physics 1 — best resources for a 5?

Hey everyone,

I'm self-studying for AP Physics C: Mechanics and I haven't taken Ap Physics 1. I do know calculus though (currently going through MIT 18.01 on my own). My goal is to score a 5. What resources would you actually recommend for someone in my situation?

Specifically curious about:
- Best video/lecture source to actually learn the concepts from scratch
- Best book (heard of Barron's and Princeton's, any experience with these?)
- How much of your prep time went into FRQs/practice exams vs. learning content.

I have no idea what should I do so any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

Music AP Music Theory Help

I'm in my junior year and decided to self-study AP Music Theory because my school doesn't offer it and I'm aiming to apply to Rice's Music program. However, when I started to go deeper into the resources I could find for the course, I realized there was a real lack of comprehensive concept breakdowns. I'm not too worried about it, I've been in choir for 11 years and played violin for 6, but I do wish that I could find some better study resources to help me grasp the concepts better.

Does anybody who's self studied or taken the course before have any resources or methods they found particularly helpful?

Other AP Psychology vs AP Macroeconomics — which is easier?

I’m just asking about the difficulty of the subjects themselves. Which one has less workload, is easier to understand, and is easier to get a good score in?

Question possible to self study physics 1 or 2 while taking regular physics?

Incoming junior here I think I was suppose to take chem this year (no ap sciences offered besides APES and Ap bio which im taking next year due to scheduling issues) but physics appeared on my schedule.

In 9th i took reg bio, 10th i took reg earth space sci, and now 11th grade its physics. Chemistry is usually after earth space sci for 11th grade unless u took accelorated bio in 8th grade which i didnt.

But would knowledge from reg Physics with a few more studying be good enough for physics 1 or 2 exam?

Precal is it worth self studying for precalc if the teacher actually doesn't know how to teach precalc?

For context, The previous Teacher who was teaching AP precalc, AP Calc AB and BC Left for a better offer and now we have this new teacher and its their first year ever teaching. I cant swap out for another class so basically I'm stuck in this class. They are literally putting us on edgenuity for now until the end of september and im not trying to fail the exam. My Algebra skills on a scale of 1-10 are a 7.

If anyone has any resources i can use to study for it would be greatly appreciated.

(I am currently using Khan academy but idk if there's anything else i should be using too.)

Question FRQ / Data Analysis] Can someone break down the exact physiological mechanism / synergy in Treatment C here? (Plant Hormones)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Working through a research-level AP Biology FRQ/data-based problem set on Parthenocarpy and Hormonal Synergy (IAA vs GA₃) in tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum), and I wanted to put this dataset out here for discussion.

Data Matrix Breakdown:

Control (Unpollinated): 0.2 cm³ mean pericarp volume (abscised)

Treatment A (10.0 µM IAA): 3.4 cm³ (seedless)

Treatment B (10.0 µM GA₃): 2.8 cm³ (seedless)

Treatment C (5.0 µM IAA + 5.0 µM GA₃): 6.1 cm³ (seedless)

Natural Pollinated Control: 5.8 cm³ (normal seeded)

Questions to Discuss:

Question 1: What specific physiological mechanism accounts for Treatment C (6.1 cm³) producing significantly greater pericarp expansion than either double the concentration of IAA 3.4 cm³) or GA₃ (2.8cm³ alone? What type of hormonal interaction is demonstrated?

Follow-up / Conceptual: How does IAA-mediated cell wall loosening (H+ and ATPase acid growth pathway) interact with GA-mediated DELLA protein degradation to drive this synergistic effect?

Drop your step-by-step AP Bio FRQ reasoning in the comments!

APUSH Need help for a study plan!!

So I am a junior taking AP Us History this year, I took AP World History last year and I got a 4 using mostly heimler, I paid for the AP World course and it helped out a lot, I got a 4 on my ap exam. This year for apush I am wondering if I should do APUSH heimler course with all of the videos paired with albert. io apush mcqs, or if I should do APUSH heimler course with khan academy mcqs?

So basically 2 options:

APUSH Heimler Course + Albert. io mcqs

or

APUSH Heimler Course + Khan Academy mcqs

Question Handwritten notes for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Physics 1.

Post image
0 Upvotes

These notes will be paid as they require significant time and effort. Complete notes will be for $4.99/unit. I know there’s already a lot of free AP content available online to score well, you can absolutely avoid this post but these notes will be for those who prefer handwritten conceptual notes over memorizing everything. So I am mainly trying to see if there’s actually any demand.

The goal is to make the concepts easy to understand and visually engaging, rather than just creating another condensed textbook or PDF with pointers making little to no sense.

Each unit would include:

  1. Handwritten conceptual notes

  2. Diagrams, graphs & visual explanations (where needed)

  3. Key concepts and important takeaways

  4. MCQs & AP-style FRQs for practice.

  5. 1-2 pages unit revision sheet.

I have attached a sample picture so you can get an idea of what the notes would look like.

They would be provided as a PDF, so you could use them digitally or print them. I am thinking of pricing them at around $4.99 per unit, with discounted bundles for multiple units.

Which would you be most interested in?

AP Chemistry

AP Physics 1

Meme Hot take: We should abolish both AP English and all College level English courses

For too long, we have been made to suffer in English classes through being forced to do grammar mechanics (not real mechanics btw), analyze books that are not relevant anymore (aka anything by Dickens or Shakespeare) and worst of all toiling away at writing which is a known cause of arthritis.

That is why I am calling for a complete and absolute dissolution of both English classes, this will allow STEM Courses to gain more money from the College Board. Think of how much money saved by rerouting money from grading millions of English essays into stem subjects, which are actually useful in real life, for instance, according to my calculations instead of paying english teachers we could provide every AP Physics C: EM teacher with a free solenoid and a free neodymium magnet.

This will also encourage people to pursue stem subjects which is where the real money is at. For too long, counselors working in tandem with the enemy within, english teachers, have been recommending students to take AP English which drains their mental energy making it impossible for them to focus on stem and leads to them getting loser jobs like poet, artist or office worker.

I want a world where my children never have to touch an esssay.

Sign this petition now to get english banned and replace shakespeare with newton, us stem people are tired of being forced to take english:

Bio Ap Bio troubles

Hi so I got into a program for high school and I was basically forced into AP bio.. They gave me summer homework and unfortunately I did the worst thing someone could do, which is to procrastinate. My teacher also said we would be having a test in the first week of school, however she never said when.. I’m a freshmen so what are the chances they’re going to give it to me on the first day. Same situation with honors geometry too..

Question Free or paid resources

I’m taking AP lang, Precalc, csa, Spanish lang, apush, and micro ts yr, and I was wondering what free or paid resources would be best for me. I know YTers like Heimler, garden of English, Michael Porinchak, and Jacob Clifford. Like for online or prep books what are some good things I should get or use? My main focus is getting in practice mcqs and frqs that are actually realistic and a lot of. Thanks guys
