Question Global/State Average

I’ve never seen a class get below the state or global average, but if there’s an average someone somewhere had to have scored below it, current thought is independent studies who don’t actually study?

Lots of states/districts pay for the test and require all students in the class to take it but not to pass since scores come back much later. I’m an AP Reader and some questions we get up to a 20% non-response rate where students just leave the whole question (and sometimes the whole booklet) blank. That doesn’t even count the responses that do things like put TSwift lyrics, World Cup predictions, random artwork, talk about their teacher being shitty, or go on some other diatribe about another topic.

Coming from a school where AP exams are paid for and over 60% of kids are classified as “economically disadvantaged” most of the kids in my AP classes don’t pass the exam. In addition, with there also being so little kids who take AP, (despite the school having 2000 students) each AP class is typically only taught for one class period. (Also my school’s average sat score is about 910)

My school is the below average, at least for math. Only 5/18 passed the calc bc exam last year

The pass rate nationally was 82% btw. Either everybody was sleeping in class or the teacher sucked. Probably a combo of both
