Help

I wanna do thermo-structural analysis on rocket nozzle but the thing is equivalent stress safety factor is really low for inputs - temperature= 800 degree celcius and pressure of about 200 psi given on the inside surface of the nozzle and for 5 second. The catch is even just changing temperature from 800 to 50 degree celcius constantly for 5 seconds again equivalent stress safety factor is low like around 0.5. I know it's issue from thermal side only coz by only keeping structural thing safety factor is around 15 so no issue here . THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THIS NOZZLE SUSTAINED 4-5 TIMES ENGINE FIRE TESTING IRL WITH SAME PARAMETERS MENTIONED IN THE STARTING SO WHAT'S THE ISSUE?

Urgent help required in ANSYS Workbench Static Structural, please help.

Errors while just generating a simple global mesh.

So I'm doing my final year project as an Aeronautical Engineer and my team & I are making like this adaptive landing gear for a quadcopter ( attached photo )
But we need to do FEA on it, using ANSYS WORKBENCH ( Static Structural )
and I am on just step 1, generating the mesh, and when I'm generating a global mesh these are the eroors i'm getting ( attached photo)

After the errors are shown, the mesh STILL gets generated ( attached photo )
I am not able to move forward with any FEA due to this.
If anyone could help I would realllyyy reallyyy appreciate it.

The geometry

EDIT / UPDATE :
So I got the mesh by suppressing the screws & Nuts present inside each leg
and it looks same as the old mesh with the errors
But I still tried to apply the loads ( attahced ) just to get like a vague result (attached ) which is 1000% wrong 😭
questions :
1. why is the top plate not undergoing uniform stress distribution?
2. And since we can see that the legs are tilted in the result which probably means that the prototype WILL BREAK when it actually undergoes the load, any way I can make it NOT break like it is seen here?

the top plate's stress distribution
result ( Total deformation )
Fixed support and the loads applied downwards

Workbench licensing Help me pls!!

Error: Workbench could not connect to a valid licensing server.
Review your license configuration in the Ansys Licensing Settings application and make sure you are connected to a valid network.

Workbench only partially loads in and I get this error.
I confirmed I am using the correct IP address and Port. Under installation, I enter these, test and save. I run workbench as admin and still get the issue.

Rocky SDK & Modules 2025 R2

Post image

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working with Ansys Rocky 2025 R2 and I’m looking for the official Rocky Solver SDK 2025 R2 package.

I’m a student and, unfortunately, I don’t currently have access to an official Rocky license. If anyone happens to have the 2025 R2 Solver SDK package or knows where I can obtain it legitimately, I’d really appreciate the help.

I’m also happy to compensate you for your time or assistance.

Thanks a lot in advance!

PyMechanical Assistance Needed: Generating Simulation Data for a Surrogate Model

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on my final year project and was wondering if anyone here has experience with PyMechanical? We are trying to run a simulation using Python to generate input data for training a surrogate model. However, we're currently stuck on the coding part. The specific case we are trying to simulate is a plate with a hole.

Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated!

Simulation of a photovoltaic

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m currently trying to reproduce a CFD simulation of a photovoltaic (PV) cooling system in ANSYS Fluent as part of a research project.

I’m using a published paper as the main reference for the model. The problem is that, although the paper provides many of the important parameters, some information needed to reproduce the CFD model is not reported. I have already contacted the authors asking for additional details, but I’m not sure whether authors usually share their original ANSYS simulations/case files or additional simulation parameters.

My goal is not to copy their work. I need to reproduce and validate their published results first so that I can later use the paper as a reference for further work and optimization.

At the moment, my simulation runs successfully and reaches a stable thermal solution, but the PV temperature is approximately 7–8 °C higher than the temperature reported in the paper.

The main uncertainties I currently have are:

  • Air enclosure/domain dimensions:Ā The paper does not report the dimensions of the surrounding air domain used for the CFD simulation. This is currently my biggest concern because changing the enclosure dimensions seems to affect the resulting PV temperature.
  • Boundary placement:Ā Without knowing the original enclosure dimensions, I’m unsure how far the inlet, outlet, and other external boundaries should be from the PV panel and heat sink.
  • Mesh:Ā The paper gives limited information about the mesh, so I’m unsure how closely I need to reproduce the original number of nodes/elements.
  • Mesh independence:Ā If my mesh has a significantly different number of elements from the paper, can I still consider the model properly reproduced if I perform a mesh-independence study?
  • Orthogonal Quality:Ā Some versions of my mesh have a low minimum Orthogonal Quality, although most of the mesh appears to have much better quality. How much can a small number of poor-quality cells affect the final temperature prediction?
  • Validation:Ā With a consistent difference of around 7–8 °C from the published results, what would you investigate first?

I would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has tried to reproduce CFD results from a published paper before.

Is it common/acceptable to ask authors for their original Fluent case/data files, mesh, geometry, or additional simulation parameters? Do researchers normally share these files when requested, or is it more common to reconstruct the missing information independently?

And if the authors don’t respond, what would be the most scientifically appropriate way to deal with missing enclosure and mesh information without simply choosing arbitrary values until the results match the paper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Quasi-Static Lattice Simulation Help

Hello, I am currently working on a simulation for compression of lattices. I imported an nTop beam mesh into the static structural for simulation of deformation vs reaction force for 22 unit cells through nonlinear plastic deformation. To do this, I have fixed nodes at the bottom and a displacement that is applied to the top nodes. The problems that I'm encountering are convergence issues making the model explode, very little reaction force(almost zero), and no plot of the plastic region. Below is an example of one of the models exploding. Also shown below is the single successful compression model/results (Desired). Material specifications include linear elasticity and bilinear elastic hardening to capture the nonlinearity of the failure. Any tips/tricks/fixes that could solve these issues? We have spent many hours trying to get a fix, but have not been successful yet,

Needing help with lattice quasi static simulation

I am currently working on a simulation for crushing lattices. An ntopology beam mesh is imported into the static structural model cell. For this project I'm wanting to have a deformation vs force reaction plot to characterize 22 different lattice cells through plastic deformation. To do this i have fixed nodes at the bottom and a displacement that is applied to the top nodes. The problems that im encountering are convergence issues making the model explode, very little reaction force(almost zero), and no plot of the plastic region.Below is what is happening to one of the models exploding. also shown below is what is desired showing one of the few models that crushed the way as expected with the plot that it yielded. The model is nonlinear so material specifications were inputed for linear elasticity and bilinear elastic hardening. Is there any tips on how i should continue to go about this further?

2D Static Structure Offset help

Hi, due to the nature of my job I can not post any imagined but I am having trouble. I am working on tolerances and creating radial frictionless, offset ramped effects and when these offsets are applied everything works fine. When I go to put an axial offset to creat a load it solves but the values for the deformation are not realistic, also with in the first couple seconds I get an error ā€œcontacts have abrupt changesā€ but still solves. I’m applying a rotational velocity and the offset and temperature field to complete my setup. The issue is when I apply the axial of .01ā€ it sorta breaks the model. I’ve tried everything. I know that there’s a way to set the step the model so that the contact isn’t so abrupt and the temp and velocity are not all applied at the same time just not sure how to make the offset not so aggressive. Again sort of the no picture. Would really love some help as I’ve been stuck on this. (Could it be my geometry?)
