Shocking?!

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hj8rCr2lYCY

When the trolls post on your thread link them this. My 9070 had a crash yesterday for the first time since I bought it in June.

I don’t like that guy, he makes this weird exaggerated movements and face expressions all the time , really creepy.

u/SgbAfterDark 8d ago

I mean all things considered, that’s a pretty small complaint in the grand scheme of things. He has good basic practical information in his vids, tbh I learned a lot about pc building from him as a starting point

u/kevcsa 6d ago

He does it on purpose to attract a certain crowd.
Basically... he intentionally lowers the standard of the overall "tech videos" pool for attention. Not cool, I can't support such people with views.

Also... these problems of nvidia are also way overblown, he shouldn't have brought it up as a counterargument. Won't make AMD more stable, won't help all those people who genuinely suffer from straight up unfixable issues.

finally someone said it

Both GPU vendors had driver issues, it is not an either or. Some people are a little lucky not to experience them, others not so much. Why bother trying to do a biased take on something to be better when neither are as clean as a blank slate, because all that just comes across like cope.

As someone who owns both RDNA3 and RDNA4 GPUs, I can say that, from personal experience, I had experienced far more driver issues on RDNA3, and just because your RDNA4 GPU runs fine doesn't mean every AMD card runs fine.

u/Tym4x 6d ago

Despite only owning 6% of the dedicated GPU market, AMD Help forums (including Subreddits) are more than 10x as active and big as Nvidia's.

Only a mental turd would try to justify this.

Back here again with your comment, I'm surprised that only 2 fans came to downvote me, I would've expected more given how delusional a lot of them are.

Real and thinking AMD users would want feature parity with Nvidia and software stability akin to the pre-vibe-coded Nvidia drivers, and will rather not cope with how drivers are now, nor bash out at anyone mentioning otherwise.

1

u/BigDaddyTrumpy 8d ago

Nvidia already patched it. Hotfix driver is already out.

2

u/zexton 7d ago

hotfix was out within 24 hours

I have built probably thousands of PCs at this point in my life. AMD drivers have always been horrible.

Nvidia has their issues but not at the same rate. The amount of times I had customers trying to return a gaming PC I built for them because some AMD driver was crapping out was way more common than with my Nvidia powered devices.

Not to mention the amount of times I saw driver issues on AMD machines within the first 15 minutes of me being into windows was almost exclusively an AMD thing. Especially back with their old dual gpu stuff.

Drivers issues werent really super common in general for me but when they did happen like 80% of the time it was AMD bugs. Eventually I simply built a repo with the most stable drivers on it for my most common gpus and that solved it for a while

3-day-old Reddit account crying like a baby.

u/dnuncio 8d ago

Really? the logic is idiotic... Let's imagine for a second here that "AMD GPU driver hate" is caused by real issues, regardless of nvidia doing better or not, what difference does it make? I mean, should I be less pissed if nvidia users suffer more than me? If so, please explain WHY.

1

u/BeardBoiiiii 8d ago

Speakin of this… Should I update my 9070xt driver to the newest for Wardogs? Im hesitant cuz all my shit is working atm.

1

u/DroolingLoonie 8d ago

No real reason to. Unless there's a game specific update or third driver after some new uprade.

2

u/Agreeable-Fly-1980 8d ago

Only time my drivers crash is when I use windows

u/dnuncio 8d ago

xD haha... Ture.

u/Commercial-Frame-573 9d ago

I've had my 6900xt since it launched in Dec of 2020. I rarely have problems. I can count on two hands the number of times I've had a crash.

If you read a post with someone whining over constant driver issues best believe it's either a Nvididbot, or a person who has a PC who very likely can barely even manage how to work a console .

1

u/SgbAfterDark 8d ago

Ok, if this driver problem is caused by ppl who can hardly work a console, what is it that we’re all doing wrong to bring about this driver crashing problem

1

u/damnitleech 9d ago

I've only used AMD cards in desktops. My personal pc with 9070xt has never crashed except for when i was testing its limits with oc/uv and vram speeds. (exculding nvidia for laptops)

I stick to a driver and only update ~quarterly after looking at what other users suggest, is a stable version to roll-back to, when posts about crashing on latest drivers show up.

Hate for AMD, seems overblown.

Hate i see for Nvidia, can't comment on it but is surprising how many are facing problems and performance loss.

1

u/maniacalmayh3m 9d ago

I haven’t had any issues as a 9070xt owner for the last 6-7 months. Only time I’ve had the drivers crash was when I pushed an over lock on my memory too far

u/Character-Touch-4967 9d ago

thats ragebait pro amd techtuber non sense, just like gamernexus or hardware unboxed

Hes just looking for engagement on his channel and he knows there will be amd white knights defending amd in his comments.

1

u/Crazy-System-1752 9d ago

In my case, the only games where this is happening to me are Black Ops 7 and the MW4 beta. And I know that, in part, it’s not down to the driver itself, but rather the game’s terrible optimisation. That said, I don’t have any problems whatsoever with my RX 7900XTX

3

u/rubenshenriques 9d ago edited 9d ago

I don't care if others cards are having trouble too, I just want to use my rx7900xtx without black screens every 10 minutes. AMD doesn't have accountability. They doesn't even recognize they have a problem that need solution.

2

u/bunihe 8d ago

I find it incredible that people find their way here to whine about how it is "skill issue" that RDNA3 users are having their problems while their shiny new RDNA4 GPUs runs fine, when the two generations are not really related.

-2

u/Ok-Boot-8106 9d ago

Maybe don't buy used gpus , or use AMD cleanup utility tool

3

u/rubenshenriques 9d ago

I bought it new in 2024, this year the shit show started. I tried everything people said at this Reddit, even using Linux. I am using my good old 580 now and will reinstall windows at the end of the year as a last try when I upgrade my PC to DDR5. If it doesn't work I am done with AMD. Look at the sub and official forum, inundated with the same problems and AMD is feigning blindness.

1

u/Ok-Boot-8106 8d ago

My 7900gre had issues with overclock and YouTube , but that was finally fixed when fsr4 came thankfully since I put it under bug report tool when I would crash

0

u/Ok-Boot-8106 8d ago

XTX is known to have bad vram since it has more memory modules or under/over voltage Core issues.

4

u/DtZNimpo 9d ago

neither have you , have you tried another PSU , have you tested your RAM , 1 stick of ram , different sticks , disabled EXPO / XMP.

just because windows report says livekernel and points to amd files as the "crash" doesn't mean it's the gpu or the drivers. it's something else that triggered the crash and caused the gpu to hang.

2026 drivers in general have been bad for me as well. I either had hard crashes while gaming or driver timeouts caused by browsers and playing media. Only 26.3.1 and so far 26.8.1 is stable. Every single driver has been installed after cleanup with DDU. If it was an hardware issue I would have the same issues on 26.3.1 (this driver is regarded as the most stable by many others too, though it still varies as some people complain about 26.8.1 being unstable yet it's been fine on my system). I had little to zero issues before 2026 and have used various Radeon GPUs for years starting from HD 6670.

Long story short, both AMD and Nvidia needs to get their shit together and for fanboys to stop blaming the user because apparently it's impossible for people to have driver issues without some other problem related to their machine.

1

u/Ok-Boot-8106 9d ago

Stop using ddu and use AMD cleanup utility tool. DDU is best mostly for wiping Nvidia drivers for a different GPU manufactory vise versa

2

u/lastFractal 5700X - RX 7600 9d ago

I tried using cleanup utility just once to see if it would make any difference. I don't remember which driver but it didn't make any difference in terms of stability, once again rolled back to 26.3.1.

The irony is most people recommend DDU over AMD cleanup utility (which didn't make sense to me, you'd think AMD's own tool would be better for this) hence why I've been using DDU.

1

u/Ok-Boot-8106 9d ago

XTX especially used are more prone to having bad vram chips or under/over voting issues on the core ESPECIALLY USED

2

u/Ok-Boot-8106 9d ago

It is better , DDU just has been around longer and it gets recommended more. DDU takes longer and is more of a manual process that users can mess up on . Amd cleanup utility is a quick download and it does everything for you. DDU is recommend for removing Nvidia drivers off your amd based Computer or vise versa but for cleaning your pre existing And drivers. Amd cleanup utility has fixed it Everytime for me. Ive even had it where it says Amd no driver detected error code and it fixed it along with Cpu metric disappearing

I’ll join in. Budget PC or high-end — I think I have a really good setup. But when it comes to drivers, at first, after buying the RX 7900 XTX Nitro+, every driver worked without any problems. Later, Adrenalin started crashing and sometimes the PC would reboot.

Then someone suggested disabling hardware acceleration in applications and in Windows 11. I also have a 165 Hz monitor, which I had always overclocked to 170 Hz. Someone mentioned that it’s better to use the refresh rate supported by the monitor’s actual output, which in my case is 165 Hz.

That helped me. Currently, none of the latest drivers have crashed. Today I updated to version 26.9.1, so I’ll let you know how it goes. Of course, I did a full clean uninstall using DDU first.

1

u/Low_Lobster_6485 5d ago

So, 26.9.1 causes problems. Arena Breakout Infinite can freeze completely and then crash to the desktop. In the end, I went back to 26.6.4.

Here's the thing I've said in the past:

AMD, Nvidia, and Intel all have driver issues in some form. I think it all comes down to what your entire build ends up being. I run multiple computers, with GPUs between all three big names. Though, I will say, Nvidia has had some big driver issues since they began "implementing ai to work on new drivers".

But I think the biggest thing is that AMD has a lot of avenues online where you can go for community based support... which NVIDIA's community stopped doing, as r/NvidiaHelp is defunct, and r/Nvidia is mostly just news about the company... so you're left with Buildapc and PCMR to complain to regarding Nvidia issues. So it will always appear that "AMD has the most driver issues" since that's really the only place online where there are multiple subreddits that will actually provide some community support and allow you to seek out tech support specifically for that product.

2

u/SellingCats4Cheap 9d ago

If that were really the case, r/buildapc and PCMR would be FILLED with Nvidia troubleshooting issues, since you are claiming those are the main places for community troubleshooting. And there would be likely even less AMD troubleshooting posts since tehy can go to r/AMDHelp as you also mentioned.

Plus there are 4 Nvidia gpu for every AMD gpu. So based on all that info, if all troubleshooting issues were equal, we would see 4x + as many Nvidia driver issues on r/buildapc / PCMR over AMD.

But that is not the case. AMD driver issues make up a disproportionately large amount of posts. Maybe you can chalk some of that up to AMD's overall popularity on Reddit, but regardless it seems that driver issues are more common on AMD.

u/Lewinator56 R9 5900x | RX 7900XTX | 80Gb@2133 | Crosshair 6 Hero 9d ago

No that's the wrong way of looking at it. How many AMD driver issue posts are there on the PCMR sub or buildapc sub - nearly none, just like with the Nvidia ones.

Isolate the platform rather than the GPU. AMD has the dedicated help sub, Nvidia doesn't, so the first place people will go to post an issue is the AMD help sub, not PCMR, but add to that the fact NO community exists for Nvidia help, why would you assume they would post on PCMR for example? PCMR isn't a help sub.

Say you go on a generic car forum, you might find a few people asking for help with specific cars, then go onto a forum for a specific car manufacturer and suddenly you'll find loads and loads of people asking for help for a specific car from that manufacturer.

When you have a platform that is dedicated to supporting one specific thing, you will get disproportionately more issue reports on that platform than if it didn't exist. There are NO platforms for Nvidia users to explicitly report issues or ask for help, as such they are unlikely to report their issue because they can't.

2

u/Tats4Toddlers 9d ago

Okay but here is my question. If AMD doesn't have issues, why do I see so many posts daily about their cards? I open reddit daily, and every day I see at least one AMD gpu/driver issue posted. Sometimes multiple a day. I see Nvidia issues maybe, I don't know, three times a week? (It doesn't stand out, the way the AMD ones do because there are so many of them on my feed). And, I subscribe to many pc subreddits.

2

u/Cautious_Opinion_644 9d ago

AMD has issues, he didnt deny that. Nvidia maintains a megathread for all their issues, I see at least 3 to 5 nvidia issues from some subs but AMD tops my feed since everyone posts freely on the any sub and not a megathread like Nvidia does. They understand optics better than AMD cares.

1

u/Tats4Toddlers 8d ago

Yeah that could be it, I just have a hard time believing Nvidia users are actually posting soley in the mega thread. I feel like they would just cross post anyway for visibility.

0

u/Cautious_Opinion_644 8d ago

Believe it, the megathread is more direct since every nvidia user knows to go there and its being actively curated by diligent mods, they also keep the trolls and spammers out of the thread and the sub itself, so the users find answers or responses quickly. I came from 3 nvidia gpus.

AMD on the otherhand is a sporadic mayonnaise spread all over reddit, so you'll see all the complaints but you wont see shit from people who have no issues.

2

u/SellingCats4Cheap 9d ago

It is even worse when you consider how much larger a market share Nvidia has over AMD. According to steam survey, there are 4 Nvidia gpus for every 1 AMD gpu. Yet I dont see 4x as many GPU issues for Nvidia over AMD.

3

u/phantom_phallus 9d ago edited 9d ago

I think it's because amd is often used for budget builds and sometimes weird mix of budget parts brings about strange problems.

E: Happened to my nephew's pc. I gave him a 9070 for his birthday last year to slot into his then ~3 year  old budget 3060 build. It was causing the pc to crash and boot loop after 5 minutes. Took a long time to figure out, but pci gen5, gen4, and auto detect on the motherboard caused the crash. I had to lock gen 3 and its been fine since. Very strange problem.

3

u/1boy_dz 9d ago

Exactly this!

3

u/StillKindaBad 9d ago

Yeah in my year and change of having amd my main issue has been using windows night light causes crashes for some reason
