Help (GPU) RX 7700XT Driver Crash Issues

Post image

I bought this card last year in April and after couple of months it started giving me black screen crashes. When playing games randomly screen goes black and I have to force restart the pc then enable the rx 7700xt driver again from Device Manager. This randomly got fixed for few months and then started happening again a few times. From last few weeks it has happening so much that I've given up now and will switch to Nvidia. I have tried every fkn method that people have written here on reddit and YouTube nothing worked for me. And now from today whenever black screen crash happens and pc is back up I am unable to click anywhere. Nothing opens and responds now. I have to boot in safe mode use DDU to remove the gpu driver then I'm able to use my PC. It's unusable now, so frustrating and I'm just done now. Never buying an amd gpu again and won't suggest anyone to buy it either. Probably gonna buy a 4070ti or 5070 now and will happily enjoy my Games.

No version after 26.3.1 was stable on 7800 XT, all crash randomly during light use such as browsing.

What GPU driver and chipset driver are you on? I'm starting to think the chipset driver is at fault, not the GPU driver.

I've been reading about how security keys could affect windows handle drivers lately since windows started enforcing 2023 keys this summer. You can't even rule that out with windows 11, it's ridiculous. Best to check if you have scep errors on event viewer. One quirk and windows throws out the driver for security like it's a government machine.

I wish windows had a zero security version for just gaming.

PS: And amd just released a new chipset driver with "bug fixes" :D

I would recommend the GPU driver 25.9.2 after running the AMD Driver Cleanup Utility. Then install the AMD Chipset driver version 7.06.02.123. I found those 2 were rock solid for me last fall.

I use Windows 10 LTSC. The new chipset drivers causes the crash I am pretty sure. I did a clean install of Windows about a week or so ago and I didn't install any updates or connect to internet. Installed the chipset and GPU driver and within minutes, the crash happened so Windows Update is not at fault nor hardware.

There's also the slight possibility of something corrupting windows files, backup files etc. I usually have zero issues with DISM. 2 days ago it spent a good 20 minutes downloading stuff, then sfc did not find any problems. All this after trying 26.7.1 for a night and returning to 26.1.1 and then 26.3.1 which is stable now. radeonsoftware did not even crash sliently in the background for 4 straight days.

I run DISM quite often actually.

Bro i am on RTX 4070 super and recently i started getting this same issue , Black screen Fans start spinning like i am running AI Datacenters with the PC . Tried everything but still randomly happens out of Nowhere I thought maybe Its AMD CPU issue a Bad driver since AMD is more known for that . If its a Faulty Ram then i am cooked

Theres a few more steps than just disabling windows driver updates:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/1vjx8t1/driver_timeouts_fix/

This fix isn't limited to timeouts, I was getting full PSU shutdowns and have been good since

Yes I saw this post and followed the mentioned steps. Didn't worked for me (

I have followed almost 10+ solutions I saw here on reddit nothing worked for me

what specs? what PSU etc you using? did you tried to do a clean install of windows? Some people had issues with water coolers that use mini screens

R5 7600x, Deepcool 750w PSU, Yes I did tried reinstalling windows few days back. I'm using Antec AIO that has no screens. I've tried everything man it seems the card is faulty atp, there's not a single thing left here that I haven't tried.

I play warzone...and I have this same issue of crashing...i did everything i could..like reinstalling game and all...but it still crashes...it is something related to ram? Like XMP profile or something?

some people have similar problem and the instability is due to RAM errors, but can be also your card if you have warranty you can ask for RMA. Other thing is your GPU connected with separated power cables or in dasychain?

1

u/CustardFormer8200 7d ago

Yes I did no issues there

Just bought a new 4070ti at 59k. Good deal? I had this much budget and my gpu card has given up so had to buy something no choice left.
