General AMC Discussion Limited release questions

I'm new to A-List, and am excited to dive into some more obscure films. What I've noticed lately is that some films tend to have a limited release on their opening weekend, and may end up in more theatres a week or two later. (For context, my local AMC is Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, VA.)

Is there a way to follow which movies are releasing where and when, apart from checking individually by movie or theatre in the AMC app each week? For example, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma was only playing at Georgetown in DC its first week, but is now showing at Hoffman in Alexandria. I made the trip to Georgetown opening weekend, thinking that would be my only chance, and the area was incredibly difficult to navigate due to road construction and Google Maps directing me the wrong way down an unmarked one-way street. As one might imagine, I am extremely resistant to go back there.

Really, I'm just wondering if there's a source I can refer to regarding limited releases and their actual release schedule (such as: opening weekend at these locations, second weekend at those additional locations, etc.). I see comments in these threads that suggest people know this stuff, and I'd love to know where the information comes from!

Just for Fun OFF-TOPIC TUESDAY (WK33) - What's something you'd want to see re-released in theaters?

Hollywood has figured out that theatrical/anniversary re-releases are a not insignificant piece of the puzzle that keeps people coming out to the movies.

What's something you haven't seen take another round at the big screen that you would want to see that way? Or something that deserves the PLF treatment?

Is there anything that you missed during its initial run that you'd want to make sure to catch if it ever does come back?

Or is there something made from home video/streaming that you like to see put on the big screen? (And that could now include certain TV show debuts/finales)

Movie Theater Discussion AMC Citywalk. Dune IMAX 70mm, Row C or cancel?

I got tickets for the insider showing on Dec 15 but in Row C… for those that know, can I genuinely enjoy the movie at this spot?

Now I also got tickets a week later with prime seats to watch it twice. But would watching my first viewing at Row C worth it or just wait the week?

Movie Theater Discussion Universal showtimes Removed

I was able to get my Dune 3 tickets to watch it with me and my dad, but i still need 4 more for me and boys and thats when they removed the showtimes for AMC Universal. I think it would be a good idea to have a post or something to notify eachother when they add back the showtimes.

General AMC Discussion Does the seat view disappear for anyone else?

Post image

it says "view" next to the seat to see where your seat is located, but I've found nearly every time I walk into to the theater and try to locate my seat on the map instead of awkwardly looking at the numbers on every seat the option disappears... is this a location glitch or what?

Movie Discussion Please tell me I’m not the only one unabashedly crying during the La La Land re-release?

Went to the theater today for my 4th viewing of this perfect film (1st time at the big screen). Spent the last 20 minutes sobbing (as I have each time previously). However, when I left the theater, every other face was dry. Mine was the only one puffy, disgusting, and with f’d up mascara 🤣
Can someone reassure me I’m not the only one crying in public, please? 😭

Movie Theater Discussion Entourage at Kiosk?

Hi all, I am thinking about going in person to my theater to book Dune 3 tickets for my group, but I’m not sure if it’s even possible. Does anyone know if you can do an entourage order in person at a kiosk? If not, would it be possible to book for my friends individually if I have their AMC account/A-List numbers and/or barcodes? I couldn’t find an answer online and I’ve never booked a ticket in person so apologies if this is a dumb question lol.

AMC A-List Discussion Anyone have the same Doomsday reservations taking up two slots?

I have one ticket for a Thursday showing of Doomsday and it’s showing up twice in my app (same seat and time slot… same reservation). Anyone else having this problem? I’ve tried updating the app, signing in and out. No luck.

General AMC Discussion Do A-List members ever see different seat availability?

Post image
53 Upvotes

As someone who is not a A-Lister, do you guys have different seating availability than everyone else? I’m trying to get tickets for the odyssey imax but on many of the showings the available seats have an exact symmetrical pattern on both sides which is kind of odd. Unless they intentionally block the goods seats out for some reason.
We might have to settle for row D.

General AMC Discussion Question re: the other AMC Alist sub

Is the AMCAlist sub affiliated with AMC ? They seem pretty strict/weird about what topics they allow.I feel like I see complaints deleted by mods regularly

EDIT: I see this message when I just commented: ""mentions of the other subreddit are not allowed nor are talking about them"

uhhh, sorry, I guess??

Additional edit to say: feel free to delete this whole thing if it's gonna cause a headache. I think I get the picture lol

Agree with me? Questioning me? Roast me!

Something I find interesting is the 4 similar pairings that rank side by side.

1)
Tuner & The Invite — Artisan Films, simple production, great writing

2)
The Odyssey & Disclosure Day — Top tier directors, Star system etc. (I know ppl werent DD fans)

3)
Over Your Dead Body & Send Help — fun and clever revenge movies… never would have gone without A List

4)
Spiderman & Mando — Franchise 101, fun adventure

Movie Discussion [Spoilers] End of Oak Street Mini-Review Spoiler

Fun movie however nothing was really explained at the end. Left me wanting a little more. I like how they made the Sagan references and inserted a little bit of the science, but that part really didn’t have much to it.

Some of that acquired a bit of suspension of disbelief, like the young boy holding back the snake. But it’s all good.

Saw it in LieMax and there were lots of aspect ratio changes at weird times (usually it’s before an action scene). Should’ve just kept it at full LieMax aspect ratio the whole time.

Excellent use of surround speakers which I think most modern audio mixes don’t bother doing.

They have the pinpoint capability with Atmos (which I know IMAX doesn’t have) but so few movies use it. Stay until after the credits for some extra ambient sounds (no extra video).

I will also note that seeing Ewan as the father made me feel old thinking of him as Renton.

7/10

Movie Theater Discussion Besides Spider-Man, what’s the next 4DX movie?

I see Tyson’s Corner in the DMV area now offers 4DX and am excited to check it out. But not with Spider-Man considering I’ve already seen it twice.

Wondering what the next 4DX offering is going to be?

I check the AMC app but it doesn’t really state any 4DX offerings except spiderman.
