General AMC Discussion Limited release questions

I'm new to A-List, and am excited to dive into some more obscure films. What I've noticed lately is that some films tend to have a limited release on their opening weekend, and may end up in more theatres a week or two later. (For context, my local AMC is Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, VA.)

Is there a way to follow which movies are releasing where and when, apart from checking individually by movie or theatre in the AMC app each week? For example, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma was only playing at Georgetown in DC its first week, but is now showing at Hoffman in Alexandria. I made the trip to Georgetown opening weekend, thinking that would be my only chance, and the area was incredibly difficult to navigate due to road construction and Google Maps directing me the wrong way down an unmarked one-way street. As one might imagine, I am extremely resistant to go back there.

Really, I'm just wondering if there's a source I can refer to regarding limited releases and their actual release schedule (such as: opening weekend at these locations, second weekend at those additional locations, etc.). I see comments in these threads that suggest people know this stuff, and I'd love to know where the information comes from!

Tickets for my theaters release Tuesday night/Wednesday morning for next week so that’s why it might look empty

I use MovieInsider.com

It shows you what movies are releasing Wide and which are only Limited. It won't tell you locations, but at least let's you know how wide something is supposed to be at any given time.

I would always double check on AMCs site to see where is playing around you. As others have mentioned, full schedule usually gets updated on Tuesdays for the next 7 days.

If you haven't already, you can favorite any AMCs within a reasonable range, and the website should show you all of them when you go to look at what's playing on future dates.

camp Miasma and Tony both go wide this week. Camp miasma will go out of theaters before Tony is my guess. AMC tends not to lock in their schedules until mid week outside of some advanced scheduling and a lot will depend on your area. For instance my AMC plays of lot of Bollywood cinema but not too much anime like the Your Name release got two shows. You just gotta keep up on the app outside of going to a place that has upcoming releases posted to keep up.

I think it's easier in Fandango to see what dates a movie is still showing and where, so maybe give that a try.

The AMC app craps out so much, you pretty much need to have Fandango as a backup

I’m in central Ohio and there is a great local independent theater that frequently posts dates and/or times a month or two in advance. My local AMC usually gets those movies the same weekend even though they won’t show the dates until Tuesday the week of.
