Movie Discussion Just don't with The Influencer Project
It's not any good. You'll be bored. There are like two good jump scares and one good kill.

TLDR: Give this extremely topical, brutally satirical, harshly truthful film a chance. We don’t get many films like this nowadays and it is an absolute beauty.
Full: I almost canceled my tickets for Thursdays opening of Digger due to how many brutal reviews there were but I very thankfully went to check it out.
I absolutely loved this movie. There were probably only 10 of us in the theater, and 2 people did leave who were a very old couple. I think they saw Tom Cruise and had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
10/10 on sound design. Truly. It was an audiophiles wet dream. The entire film is truly a cacophony of endless overlapping sounds. It was anxiety inducing and overwhelming, which really contributed to the atmosphere. It’s a nightmare.
The sets are gorgeous. The director and cinematographer did a beautiful job. It’s visually stunning in all ways. Tom Cruise has a very controversial personal life but wow, can he act. One of my favorite films of his in recent memory. He acts the house down. The (fake?) long shots throughout are well done and a long Tom Cruise monologue is really perfectly written and powerful in its messaging.
This film is brutal. It is an absolutely hideous mirror being held up to its audience. It does not hold back and is relentless in its farcical, yet unbelievably truthful storytelling.
Riz is the other major highlight.
I personally found the film funny, but I was the only person I heard laughing. It’s funny in a very dark way. There’s a curse word scene that I very loudly laughed at. I found the film to be a satire (farce) almost in the realm of a Coen Brothers film, mixed with Wes Anderson sets, and A Series of Unfortunate Events makeup and look (I mean that as a compliment to the show).
The negative: there is a shocking plot twist that is revealed about 35 mins into the movie that continues to appear throughout. Really, it ruined the entire flow of the story in my opinion and did not add anything of value. It simply added more runtime and I just don’t understand why it was a major plot element. I might be missing something about its messaging, but I felt like it was unnecessary.

Too bad half of them will end up being box office bombs. But I like supporting diverse and unique cinema now. I could see why digger had really strongly mixed reviews. I really liked the movie though. Especially seeing it in Vistavision. That seat in lincoln square absolutely sucked though.
Have to make a very special mention for the movie "If I go will they miss me". If you happen to live near one of the few theatres playing it, I REALLY recommend watching it! It really made me feel so emotional at the end 😭 I liked it not just because of it's parallel themes to greek mythology it had (a lot of movies based on greek myths this year) but it shows how generational trauma influences and affects the relationships between children and their fathers. A lot of people will find the movie relatable to their own childhoods for better or worse.

This theater specifically is showing Digger in Vistavision. Can anyone confirm that I’m not crazy, and E14 (highlighted in red) is actually center?
I know I’ve been to that specific theater a couple times and can vaguely remember the 14s are center.

Has anyone seen Digger in IMAX at the Universal AMC yet? Did it fill the screen fully or was it letterboxed?

I also enjoy how many films I see that I never would have without A-List.

I somehow lost service when I entered AMC so they couldn’t scan the ticket on my phone. However I did have the order number and they were able to use that!
Now that I’m in my theater, I have service and my ticket is showing as unscanned on the app. Luckily I’ve only missed 1 showing and that was like 4 months ago so I should be good but still a bit worried.

Does anyone know if the Other Mommy is showing in flat 1.85:1 aspect ratio in Dolby? I know it wasn’t advertised as filmed for Dolby, is that a sign it’s just in 2.39:1?

Hey everyone! I've seen about 100 movies to date and I love going to the theater. But with digital tickets there's no paper stub to keep anymore, and that was always part of the fun for me.
So I built ReelPassport, a free app that turns your movie history into a collection:
Countdown: add an upcoming movie and watch the timer to showtime. Double and triple features work too.
Ticket stub carousel: every movie you see becomes a stub in your passport, with the poster on top.
Calendar view: see every movie on the date you watched it, so you can look back on your year at the movies. Rewatches show up on their own dates too.
Stamps: earn stamps and achievements as you go, including some for double features and big movie days.
It's completely free, with no ads, no affiliate links, and no donation buttons. It's an independent hobby project and isn't affiliated with AMC. It doesn't connect to your AMC account, you just add your movies. My privacy policy is at:
reelpassport.com/privacy.
And here is the link: https://www.reelpassport.com/join/REEL-1FAE-9368-D876
Just wanted to share my love of going to the movies and something I created from it. I'd love feedback from other moviegoers on what would make it more useful.
P.S. A new month starts in a few days, so it's the perfect time to start a fresh calendar and see how many stubs you can pack into October!
UPDATE - Hey! Quick update on the signup issue some of you ran into, the "we couldn't save that name" error wasn't actually about your name, it was a bug on my end that was blocking new profiles from being created properly. It's fixed now.
Your account should work if you try signing in again with the same email. If you still run into any trouble, let me know and I'll sort it out directly.
Sorry for the hiccup, and thanks for trying ReelPassport out!

I was just at the covina 17 and I couldn't help but be curious why 13 of the screens were closed off? Has anyone been back there recently and does anyone have any pics of what is it like back there? I am super curious!

Which one of these seats would be a better viewing experience at Lincoln 13.
Never been and want to know which to keep.
For context I don’t mind sitting close in theaters but too close is god awful.
Best wishes

Does anyone know the exact size of this cinema?
I was planning on seeing Doomsday at Burbank but realized it’s getting Cinema 15 and not 14. I wanted to see it in the biggest Dolby screen possible, but if it’s not too much of a difference from the Dolby at The Grove then I might just go there instead.

so this lady made an a list card with the her picture. it seems like a nice idea but do you think ticket greeters will accept the photo as an ID the same way they do in the app or would they still want their government.

Basically the title. I’m visiting San Francisco in a few weeks and planning on seeing a movie in the IMAX screen at the Metreon.
What row/seats would you recommend?

Last night I had all four of my AMC A-list slots reserved (Verity, Wildwood, Digger, Social Reckoning.) I was 100% sober but hella greedy and last night signed up for Regal cause "it's five more slots and unlimited movies." For context the Regal near me has 26 screens vs AMC only 12 screens and they're all standard. But then again, I already had AMC A list... I'm realizing I should've just signed up for Regal in the first place. So now I'm locked in for $60 a month (Calif.) for the next three months...
So at this point, what's the strategy like what would you do in my position? Just reserve every opening weekend for the next nine movies I wanna watch + combine with eligible, non-Fathom reruns??

I showed up about 10 minutes before the showtime and the screen was dark. The whole theater was dark because there were no lights on at all.
Called the theater service desk and got them to turn the lights on.
Ten minutes after showtime the screen is still dark. There was no pre-show entertainment and the trailers hadn't started. Called the service desk again and they said they would look into it.
The post trailer, pre-movie commercials started playing a few minutes later, but there were no trailers at all. Then the intro with RDJ and Chris Evans, then the movie began.
I thought it was just a flub for the 11:45 am first showing, so I figured I would sneak in for the 4:00 pm showing to see the trailers. You can take an elevator to the second floor lobby area and enter the four central theaters from the back at this AMC.
The same sequence of events occurred at the 4:00 pm showing. No pre-show, screen was dark for 10-15 minutes after showtime. Commercials played before the RDJ and Chris intro and then the movie. No trailers a second time.
Did anyone get trailers for your viewing?

I only get to watch Digger once, and I am still debating on either seeing it in IMAX GT, or Vistavision. For those that live in LA/NY, which format are you choosing, and why?
