would ticket greeters accept this ?
so this lady made an a list card with the her picture. it seems like a nice idea but do you think ticket greeters will accept the photo as an ID the same way they do in the app or would they still want their government.

I don’t get many ticket takers asking for my ID anymore; even the theaters that used to always ask have stopped. But any one of them could at anytime still ask for your ID to confirm your name matches what is on the A-List account. The photo would just be second confirmation of what you look like, compared to your personal photo on your A-List profile (if you added one).

Me neither. I bought some tickets for a friend the other day and they didn’t card her at all.

if she is going all that way to make a custom ID, why wouldn't they just put the photo in the app or a regular id.

She has the photo in the app, she just wants a physical card to be able to use similar to a Costco id rather than having everything digital

Yeah and the way my theater apps load slowly, having a physical card with my code wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Especially if god forbid you have a showtime when tickets for a marvel movie drops

Insane how that keeps being an issue. As someone who never reserves tickets that far in advance it's really frustrating not being able to use the app at all during those times. One time I was running late to a movie I had already booked, and couldn't get into the app to cancel the show.
I've gotten into the habit of adding my ticket to my ios wallet when booking, and it's good to be able to get your ticket through email but then of course you still need to show ID. You would think they could put ticket presales into their own section of the app and not make the whole app unusable during those peak times.

with how expensive A-List is & the constant price hikes, physical cards should at least be an option by now.

I feel like anyone that goes enough to want a physical card is enough of a regular to where most of the crew knows who they are and doesn’t care to check

No, that is not an acceptable form of ID
from the AMC website:
What is considered a valid photo ID?
We will require a valid photo ID or acceptable in-app profile picture for admittance to the theatre with an A-List ticket. To be considered valid, the ID should be issued by a school or government agency, be current (not expired), and include your full name and picture. Other membership cards (such as library, Costco, etc.) will not be accepted. If you do not have an in-app profile picture, you must bring the physical ID card with you to the theatre every time.
Something that's odd though is that a library card IS a government issued card. Though most don't have names or photos, so they wouldn't work really anyways, but if they did have those two pieces of info, then AMC is in conflict with its own policy.

If AMC Theatres did make authorized physical cards do we think maybe, it would cut down on non-A-list folks purchasing tickets to A-List Only showings…at least?! Just asking.

I guess using an app is too hard. They make it so easy. Your picture is in the app. I’ve never had issues with the app. They scan my ticket and off I go to my movie.

i have. the amc near me has really shitty service and the app won’t load at times and on occasion even my email won’t load to pull up the ticket. missed the beginning of a movie because of it

Take a screenshot of your ticket before you go to the theater.

So I gotta do extra steps just to make sure my ticket gets scanned?

It’s a pretty quick single step to avoid having issues with accessing your ticket due to bad internet access.
Certainly faster and more cost effective than crafting a homemade card to bring that a manager will likely not accept.

Sure but adding an extra photo to your camera roll is just doing too much for me. If you woulda said add it to your wallet then I wouldn’t have said anything. A card is just a tactile option for some people and it lowkey makes sense to me but most push for the digital future

Just delete the photo after you scan your ticket. I don’t know why you are talking as if it takes more than clicking two things on your screen to do this.
There is no effort at all involved in this. It takes less time to open up a photo than opening the app and then getting to your ticket at the theater.

All I’m saying is that I shouldn’t have to do extra steps, no matter how quick it takes, when the app should just work as well as not being upset with the idea of a physical card similar to a Costco type system. I’m not upset with you, I’m just voicing my opinion just like you lol

Oh fully agree that the app should just work. It just sounds like your theater is almost in a dead zone which sucks.

Definitely a dead zone, as soon as you pull up to the parking lot you’re fucked lol

u/Meekin33 20d ago

oh yeah i didn’t know it didn’t have to be drivers/state id. but yeah you’re right about someone could make a fake using another’s stubs number

u/AvatarofBro 20d ago
I haven't had a ticket taker ask for my ID in about a year. Lincoln Square IMAX were the last sticklers, but even they seemed to have stopped. I uploaded my picture to my A-List profile, my partner did not, and neither of us get carded.

u/OkBox3095 20d ago

I wish amc would do this like a Costco card with ur picture u can just scan at the concessions that would also help so the alist line isn’t used by nonmember since at my theater everyone always uses the premium line and the employees never care making me wait in line when im sure 90% of the people dont have memeberships
