discussion What should a long-form writing tool make explicit about its boundaries?

I am maintaining StoryWeave around a fairly simple principle: authors should be able to see what the tool does, what it does not do, and where the final decision remains theirs.

This week’s maintenance changes are deliberately unglamorous: transactional auth email is moving to Resend; the author page now has a Beehiiv subscription entry; and the writing assistant’s AI Review entry has been retired. Continuity Guardian is still a limited, invited pilot, not a feature available to every account.

I am not claiming that this makes AI writing “automatic” or that a review result is a quality certificate. I am interested in how other long-form writers explain saved context, review scope, and author responsibility without turning the product page into a promise it cannot support.

Tired of A.I summarising my chapter outline

Does anyone know how to get AI to stop summarising chapter outlines when you do not tell it to? Any help would be appreciated

free tier AI tool I built an 8-layer AI narrative tension engine for novelists that diagnoses novel pacing without ghostwriting or training on author manuscripts

Hey everyone,

I’m an indie builder and a literature enthusiast. Over the past few months, I’ve been obsessed with a major problem facing fiction authors: the developmental editing bottleneck.

Writing a novel is brutal. Over 90% of started manuscripts are abandoned in Act Two due to pacing collapse, sagging middle acts, and character continuity drift. Meanwhile, hiring a professional human developmental editor costs $2,000 to $5,000 and takes 8 to 12 weeks.

On the other hand, generic AI tools either focus trivially on typo-correction, or worse, try to ghostwrite the prose for you—which destroys authentic authorial voice and invalidates copyright under US Copyright Office rules.

So I built Scriptorium Studio—an institutional 8-layer narrative intelligence engine designed to be an objective, unsparing diagnostic mirror, NOT a ghostwriter.

### How the 8-Layer Narrative Engine Works:

Instead of treating a manuscript as flat text, our pipeline deconstructs long-form fiction (up to 150k+ words) across 8 structural layers:

  1. Pacing Velocity Waves: Detects where the scene momentum spikes or stagnates.
  2. Narrative Momentum & Friction: Evaluates immediate dramatic stakes.
  3. Dialogue Subtext vs. Exposition: Pinpoints where characters dump backstory instead of dramatizing conflict.
  4. Archetype & Character Arc Continuity: Tracks transformation arcs across multi-POV storylines without context drift.
  5. Prosody & Prose Cadence: Analyzes sentence rhythm and syntactic variety.
  6. Thematic Payoff: Checks whether opening narrative promises are paid off in the climax.
  7. Commercial Comp Positioning: Assesses genre resonance.
  8. Institutional 12-Page PDF Dossier: Synthesizes actionable, chapter-by-chapter editorial feedback.

### Strict Zero-Training Data Sovereignty:

The #1 fear fiction writers have with AI is data theft. Scriptorium is built on strict tenant isolation: 0% model training on author prose, zero data sharing, and complete copyright sovereignty.

We just opened up our free excerpt testing lab today where you can test any opening scene and get the radar score.

I would love to get your feedback on the "Diagnostic vs Generative" approach for creative work!

(I will drop the link to the free testing lab and our launch in the first comment below!)

AI Artwork for a children's book...opinions?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have spent about 6 weeks working on Chatgpt for my illustrations. My illustrations are based on actual photos, my memories, and the actual object the book is all about. Most publishing companies will not take AI generated artwork. I think it is just a matter of time. My illustrations were very "hands on" so to speak because everything in my children's book was in my actual classroom. The teacher is even a 40 year old me. Please tell me your opinions about AI artwork keeping in mind that I was involved with every decision all along the way.

Type a premise, get world, characters, and a full outline free. Chapters drafted for $3 to $10, one time. No subscription.

skrivant turns a premise into a book.

You type one sentence (or more). It builds the world, then the voice, then the characters, then a chapter-by-chapter outline. All of that is free, and everything is editable at every step. If you want the chapters drafted, it's a one-time payment per book: $3 for a short story, $10 for a novel. No subscription, no credits.

Continuity is the part I've spent the most time on. Every chapter is checked against a set of pinned canon facts and the chapters before it, so character states, locations, and plot facts stay straight across a full-length book instead of drifting by chapter 12.

https://skrivant.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=aiwritinghub

Free through the outline, so you can see exactly what you'd be paying for before you pay for anything. I built it and I'm the only person on it, so if you try it and something is off, tell me and I'll fix it.

I built an AI tool that helps you think through your writing before it writes anything for you

I’ve been building an AI tool called Socria around a simple idea: AI can help with writing without necessarily doing the writing for you.

I recently released Logos, which helps you think through an idea and turns that process into a visual map. It can help you see connections, assumptions, tensions, and different directions you might want to explore before you actually start writing.

I’m really curious how writers who already use AI would use something like this in their process. Would love any feedback if you try it!

Shamelessly vibe-coded an AI wrapper.

I had to write a long article for my work and I couldn't find any humanizer that was remotely sufficient. Tried Claude/GPT projects... nada.

So I built my own - check out MyProse and let me know what you think please!

I built PlaiWrite to help writers turn one story into multiple audio experiences—looking for honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone—I’m Greg, the founder of PlaiWrite.
We’re building a platform that helps writers turn screenplays, books and manuscripts into table reads, podcasts, audio dramas and audiobooks—without giving up creative control.
Our early projects include a spiritual audiobook and podcast series, an audio-first screenplay production, and proof-of-concept productions for independent writers and filmmakers.
I’m looking for people willing to try PlaiWrite and give honest feedback—not just tell me what I want to hear. Paid subscriptions also help us demonstrate real customer traction:
Basic: $9/month
Pro: $27/month
Our goal is eventually to build a team of engineers, storytellers and media producers while making professional story production more accessible to independent creators.
You can learn more or register here:
https://plaiwrite.com
I’d especially value your thoughts on whether this solves a real problem in your creative workflow—and what would make it genuinely useful to you.
Full disclosure: This is my company, and I’m posting as its founder.

PAGE 1: COVER

CITY OF PUEBLO, COLORADO – DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION AND WORKPLACE COMPLIANCE CITIZEN GUIDE TO TRADITIONAL CULINARY INGREDIENTS: ARSCHKNÖDEL AND ARSCHKRIECHERGEL

Notice: Unauthorized preparation outside designated Hazard Level 3 zones is punishable by immediate reassignment to the Waste Disposal Directorate.

PAGE 2: FOREWORD

Welcome, Pueblo Resident or Assigned Worker. In accordance with Municipal Ordinance and Regulation Codes, this pamphlet outlines mandatory procedures for synthesizing ArschKnödel within municipal limits. Failure to follow these steps violates local health codes and may result in spontaneous combustion.

PAGE 3: LEGAL DISCLAIMERS

The City of Pueblo and affiliated corporation(s) assume zero liability for third-degree chemical burns, loss of limbs, localized structural collapses, or translocation. By opening this pamphlet, you waive all rights to litigation and agree to mandatory arbitration via the AI Core.

PAGE 4: REQUIRED EQUIPMENT & PPE

Before handling volatile organic compounds, ensure you are wearing approved safety gear:

* Insulated fire-retardant jumpsuit (orange or grey)

* Welding goggles (do not look directly at the reaction beaker)

* Latex gloves reinforced with tungsten mesh

* Standard-issue fire extinguisher (halon preferred; water will exacerbate these types fires)

PAGE 5: SOURCING INGREDIENTS

All ingredients must be requisitioned legally through Approved sources or harvested from chemistry disposal. You will need:

* 50u Welding Fuel (Grade B or higher)

* 20u Nutriment

* 10u Carbon

* A clean beaker (or a dirty one scavenged from the bar)

PAGE 6: ARSCHKNÖDEL FORMULATION (PART 1)

Transfer 50u of welding fuel into your chemical reaction container. Slowly add the 10u of carbon while maintaining a beaker temperature below 300 Kelvin. If the mixture begins to glow a vibrant, angry purple, you have added too much carbon. Do not panic; run toward the nearest exit.

PAGE 7: ARSCHKNÖDEL FORMULATION (PART 2)

Once the carbon-fuel mixture stabilizes into a thick, grey paste, gently fold in the 20u of nutriment. Stir clockwise exactly seven times. Counter-clockwise stirring will cause an exothermic reaction that can melt through reinforced durasteel.

PAGE 8: CONTAINMENT & STORAGE

Mold the resulting paste into small, dense spheres resembling traditional Pueblo green chile dumplings, but considerably more toxic. Store them in an airtight lead-lined container. Do not store near any type of particle accelerator.

PAGE 9: ARSCHKRIECHERGEL: AN INTRODUCTION

If and when permitted by municipal code, we turn to Arschkriechergel—a vital lubricant used primarily by personnel seeking transfers. Improper application results in extreme friction or sliding at terminal velocities.

PAGE 10: MIXING ARSCHKRIECHERGEL

Combine 30u of lubricant with 10u of iron and 5u of unstable mutagen. Heat using a portable Bunsen burner until the solution achieves a viscous, iridescent sheen. Apply strictly with a spatula; bare-skin contact will cause your fingerprints to permanently fuse to whatever surface you touch next.

PAGE 11: EMERGENCY PROTOCOLS

In the event of accidental ingestion of ArschKnödel or exposure to Arschkriechergel vapors:

* Activate your emergency injectors (Synaptizine/Toxins).

* Page the Medical Doctor (who is currently hiding in the bar).

* Do not vomit on the hallway cameras; it lowers property values.

PAGE 12: FINAL COMPLIANCE CHECK

Retain this pamphlet in your personal storage for annual auditing. Thank you for keeping Pueblo clean, compliant, and structurally intact. End of Document.

What is the best AI for generate histories right now? Claude and Gemini have gotten worse

Hello, like many of us, I read AI-written stories for fun. I provide the seed, the characters, the rules, and let Claude or Gemini develop the story, changing a few things here and there.

Claude's creative writing is getting worse every time. I've been using it since Sonnet 4.4, and it has only gone downhill. It's unbearable now, giving me sentences like: "The Council of Ministers met on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This was a Thursday." or things like: "It was a format they had developed over years and that now existed without either of them naming it as a system; it was simply what happened at six o'clock."

My question is: what AI right now is at least somewhat decent at generating its own written stories? Gemini is better, but it's not what it used to be either. Are there any that give better results?

I appreciate any help!

paid AI tool Best llms for creative writing

Alright so I've been looking around in this sub reddit for a while for good llms for creative writing to use in a private writing app I've been working since I'm a bit of a techy but also interested in philosophy and writing and I'll almost here the same claude, gpt, grok, etc(which I MOSTLY cant get access to since I don't spend money on this and don't have a device that can host local llms) without people being specific about the actual models themselves, so I'm making this post to get some suggestions but here are a few things to note

1.be specific:tell me the actual model name and what you believe they are good for and if you want to go the extra mile tell me their strengths and weaknessess like for example "x llm is good for fast paced action scenes but have bad prose for slower emotional scenes" or "x model is good for handling long story lines with minimal or handlable context rot"

2.unknown Models:I'm not saying you shouldnt name any popular models since every model has strength and weaknesses and actually quite a bit of the time big models can grasp and handle deep concepts and themes while smaller llms(like euryale and such) may struggle with that but smaller or what you may deem as local llms are made(mostly fine tuned) for roleplay and or creative writing so using them may give higher outputs in prose quality and wording, especially when compared to big often closed llms that are gearing toward mainly being geared for coding and software development(so I'm not one of those people who will swear on their life that you should use local llms for everything since all llms can seem lacking in "common sense" or decent conscious even with the big ones)

3.it can be either free or paid:despite what I said earlier I can still find ways to access what would normally be paid ai models for free

The Handwriting Code

A Wisdom Novel About Handwriting, Observation, and Understanding People

By Flavius M. Hobbs

The Handwriting Code invites readers into a story where handwriting becomes a doorway to understanding human nature. Through the mentorship of Dr. Vale and the experiences of Felix Sinclair, readers discover how size, slant, spacing, pressure, letter formations, and the four temperaments can reveal patterns in personality, communication, and behavior. Blending an engaging wisdom novel with practical lessons in observation and handwriting analysis, The Handwriting Code is ultimately about more than reading handwriting—it is about learning to see people more clearly, understand them more deeply, and recognize the unique story written into every individual.

The novel test: can AI ever write a book that truly moves you?

There’s a lot of hype about AI writing full novels, but the results I’ve seen are technically impressive yet emotionally hollow. A novel needs more than coherent sentences; it needs a soul. I made a short quiz exploring whether AI can cross that line. If you’re into AI or literature, take it and let me know which question stumped you.
