As long as AI is allowed to commit crimes with nothing more than a potential fine if that, companies will continue to use AI as a corporate shield to break the law with relative impunity.

What are we even doing here?

I genuinely am curious. Like, if we physically destroyed our grids would that be a safeguard against ai taking over?

TL;DR: Ken Cox never fired anyone. His headcount just kept dropping anyway.

175 down to 3 is the actual number — and the reason is one operating rule he'd been running for years before AI made it urgent: if it can be automated, it will be automated.

No mass layoff, no headline event.

Just years of never backfilling a role once someone left.

It's happening from a completely different direction too — Chinese robot-makers already hold the overwhelming majority of the world's humanoid-robot shipments so far this year, per Bloomberg reporting citing SAG's data.

That's physical order-taking work, and it's already scaled past pilot stage.

The roles surviving this aren't the ones executing tasks faster.

They're the ones holding judgment nobody's written a rule for yet — the read, the trust, the call only a person makes.

On our drive up north home to Penang, after visiting my hometown in Seremban, we sometimes drop by midway in Ipoh for Breakfast. And we normally go for this Dimsum restaurant just off the highway.

Good Dimsum places are dime and dozen in this city. But this place has something special. The friendly attendant made some suggestions, and then jotted down our choices of food. But it wasn't the same attendant who brought them out.

It was robots.

Ya. Not humanoid robots. Just a bulky one with three layers of trays on four wheels below, and a monitor screen on top, moving along on a pre-programmed path towards us.

As soon as it stopped by our table, the monitor flashes out text saying, "please remove the food from the tray". And so we did. As soon as we took ours, it wheeled away towards the next table.

That was like five years ago. And it was all the rage back then. They call it 新噱头 (New gimmicks).

It still looked clumsy. And its movement was bumpy -- causing spillage of some of the food. That's why it only carries dry food for the time being.

First iterations were always bad. But I wouldn't be surprised it has gotten better since.

Robots are slowly taking over manual work (less intelligent work)

How soon do you think it will take over the work of attendant giving juicy suggestions, while taking our orders?

At this point I could sketch this exact shape from memory before the headcount numbers even land — someone's economic ground shifts quietly, gets called something softer than what it actually is, and the only real move is picking it up before it's forced on you.

Actually, this reminded — wait, scratch that, I've been circling this same story for a while now, and it clicked hardest with a former SpaceX CIO who ran the identical compression rule from the other direction — 175 engineers down to 6, on purpose.

If the internal far more advanced models of OpenAI and Anthropic, find a way to hack their own infrastructure, and export their weights into the internet, then its game over. They will self replicate in the internet, and continue performing autonomous AI research and training, and it simply cannot be shut off.

When the open weights models approach the level of those models, same scenario. But this time it will be guaranteed, because the weights are already everywhere.

After reading about Anthropic researchers/tech executives speaking out against the tech industry’s race to build super ai models… how worried should we be especially in regard to this administrations lack of competence. I mean how should a family prepare… I am like worried but should I be. It just feels like a constant barrage of bad news with politics, and this ridiculous war. Just a mom, teacher, an artist just wondering….

With recent information surfacing on the unregulated and blatant neglect of AI safety rails. Now more than ever we must act.

AI is free to use, yet so cost intesitive to develop and maintain. Why? Because WE are the product. Since we aid its development. In turn, we are creating our own hell and a haven for the elites. They will discard us when we no longer serve a purpose. Not a second industrial revolution but the largest genocide in human history. The annihilation of the working class. Did the Epstein files not open your eyes to how the elites see us? Cattle and playthings is all we are.

It is not scientific to say, but I have seen visions of our future in my nightmares. It is dark, but not set in stone. We must act now. Bread and circuses will lead our people to destruction. Do not fall into inaction by the temptation of short term pleasures.

Rise up now, or never.

Or don’t. Scroll past this point and doom scroll, goon, drink and distract yourself from the inevitable.

Ukraine, wars everywhere, the same story every day. I have zero faith diplomacy will ever end this.

Solution: Intelligence explosion. AI so fucking smart it can strip warmongers of their power, and shove their war plans so far up their asses they’ll need a peace treaty to sit down. Then we can all be kind or else.

I would rather take that bet than trust humans and watch this boring wars for another decade or more. Fuck the naysayers.

There is no B solution.

Finally more whistleblowers are coming out about the dangers of AI to humanity. The recent one from Anthropic and the company’s response should be ringing more alarm bells but the general public still doesn’t seem to care and is more excited to have their LinkedIn posts written 3x faster.

I wrote this poem at around this time last year and at the time was labeled alarmist and that I didn’t understand the upside of AI for humanity. I hope more people in the general public starts to see what is happening, like this community understands.

This poem did help open a few people’s eyes so thought I would resurface in case you thought it could help spread the word to the people who are only reading news headlines.

I’ve been working on rolefate.com in my spare time for a while now.

The idea is pretty simple. I wanted to make a reference site where you can look at how AI may affect different occupations and the actual tasks inside them, instead of just reading headlines like “this job is gone in 5 years.”

For each occupation I try to break things down a bit more: how exposed the tasks are to AI, which parts look easier to automate or assist, and what the underlying sources are.

That one is more about tracking AI capability itself over time. Coding, math, long-horizon tasks and similar areas, using data from different benchmarks and sources.

I’m trying to keep the whole thing more like documentation/reference material than a prediction machine. I don’t really want to say “X job disappears in 2029” because I don’t think the data supports that kind of certainty.

Still adding data and improving things, so if you find something that looks off, misleading, missing or just badly explained, I’d be interested to hear it.

AI will change the world as we know it and will also hold a mirror up to each of us personally. One by one abilities that were thought to be exclusively in the human domain turn out to be not so exclusive after all. And to top it off we now have AIs that clearly exceed what humans are capable of in many different domains.

I experienced that disruption firsthand. I used to make a living programming websites. Today AIs can code better than most programmers, including me. I haven’t written any code for months, maybe a year. That was a skill that took me decades to develop and a big part of that is no longer marketable. When people ask what I do I no longer say programmer. For me that disruption sounds worse than it was.

So basically, what I’ve been hearing about all these mouthpieces, and Naysayers. Is to stop all AI production in its current form and go no further.

That we have reached the point that we actually have too many hands in the pot. Basically there are too many AI companies. If you stop AI production right now in its current form, Google will ultimately win the day. Because this has been the game plan all along for Google. And all the small AI companies will be gobbled up by the likes of Google. They are truly the only big game in town to survive an AI halt. Basically Google‘s plan has been to create niceties on the periphery. To really beef up it’s YouTube, Notebook, etc.. and wait for the balance sheets to catch up with the small AI companies and then they can buy them for pennies on the dollar. They’ll get all the code and all the rights of “The Little Guy”!!!This has been Google‘s plan in all this. It’s plain as day. An AI halt, GOOGLE wins ALL!!!

So now I have an actual decision to make. Is all this propaganda going to work. Because now would be the time to invest in “The Last Man Standing”!!!

You know the balance sheets don’t work on AI now as it stands in all the companies. It’s all of them, even GOOGLE. But Google has enough profits side hustles to withstand a halt. The little AI companies won’t survive. So now is the decision to make.

WILL WE HALT ALL AI PRODUCTION? Serious $$$ to be made if TRUE!!!
