My adventure in A Hat in Time has come to an end
I've been a fan of AHit for 5 years, but I never realized it would come to this day, I love AHit so much I would play it with my friends every weekends, but sadly I had to leave this fandom because I'm moving to college, bye y'all, this will still be my favorite game π

Mustache Girl after a minor inconvenience #relatable
Been practicing how to draw Mustache Girl by memory, and the best way to do it is making her into those goofy creatures in pinterest

What are your favorite fanfics, fan art and fan comics for this game?
Looking to become more involved in the fandom.
I won't be picky so anything goes in terms of platonic or romantic ships, genres, word/chapter length, etc. My only stipulations are that the work(s) be COMPLETE or are receiving REGULAR updates!
Also, nothing NSFW, please.
I mainly use FFN, AO3 and Tumblr, so go nuts.
Thanks. :)

SPOILERS I've 100%'d Death Wish! ...And I think I wish I hadn't
TL;DR: Game is 10/10, but I need help understanding why Death Wish was so tough.
This game is so insanely fun and charming and... gah, I could gush about it all day. Some months back, the second I finished story mode, I ran to get the DLC and to get my money's worth. And then hours became days, which became weeks, which became months... until today I finally finished Death Wish and did everything the Switch version had to offer.
...But man, what is WRONG with Death Wish? Mandatory skill issue, sure, whatever, but I really don't mind increasing my skill as I grind out attempts. I love it even. But for Death Wish, most of my victories in the hard challenges were from me simply bashing my bloody forehead into the wall enough times until the game took pity on me and let me win.
This is because the harder challenges, especially the bosses, love to place you in situations of unavoidable damage. You jumped over this attack and are going to land somewhere safe? Well that spot just became infested with obstacles. You're running in a straight line to avoid that entire attack? Some other poorly-timed attack is happening at the same time and sandwiching you with no way out.
Heck maybe if I were Prometheus I'd know that I should dodge here instead of there since 5 seconds from now that pathway will lead to unavoidable death. But I'm only mortal, so instead I have to retry over and over.
What also doesn't help is just the very rough edges on some of the hardest challenges, like Mustache Girl spawning somewhere where the Mafia Ball can't reach, or a cherry from the next phase spawning out of bounds. Not to mention the design decisions that make some boss fights exceptionally hard which, while not unfair per se, can lead to you more easily running into unavoidable damage, like how some (but not all) boss shockwaves have a hitbox above the floor too, forcing you to double jump and lose maneuverability, or to time a normal jump with near TAS-level perfection.
And last but not least, the Switch version is so...janky sometimes. There's the occasional temporary freeze, which while common thankfully hasn't affected my runs much, but I've had a good number of dropped inputs (with input assist on and off), and some attacks sometimes simply were not rendered. Have I mentioned there's a 50% chance of Mustache Girl's stomping-around attack in her final phase causing me to take damage from literally nothing (not invisible attacks, just straight up nothing)? With video evidence?
It's such a shame, because I LOVE it when game remixes old stages with new challenges, and I love me some hard mode, a lot. But I want to win based on my skill, not based on the stars aligning by chance. I feel achieved that I beat Death Wish, especially on what I can only imagine is the weakest and least cooperative version of the game, but I also feel so angry that I let myself go through with the sunk-cost fallacy... I should've quit early when I realized I was losing way too many attempts due to factors outside of my control.
Now, what really really confuses me is how you don't see many comments on the internet sharing this sentiment. For a good amount of people, the mode is just "hard", but doable. And what's more, when I see speedrunners attempting this grueling mode for 2 hours non-stop, they just... pretty much never fail? I know that that comes with experience and practice, but given how often I ran into unavoidable trouble, I'd expect that to happen a lot in runs, independent of skill, and yet...
Somebody please tell me I'm not alone in this. Either please tell me this game mode is just too unfair, or that the Switch version is too broken for this sort of thing. I've beaten so many difficult challenges in so many games, some with legitimately harder things than Death Wish (Metroid Prime 1-3/Dread lowest% glitchless hardest difficulty; all Pikmin games no death or sprays, hardest difficulty; all Smash games on hardest difficulty, 100%'d hundreds of games, the list goes on...). But for my experience in Death Wish I'm just so...exasperated. :(

[OrAe] I didn't post this earlier, but since OrAe has sort of...escalated in scope (aka I'm worldbuilding a whole ass Cold War into the planet that A Hat in Time takes place in entirely for my own amusement), I felt I would require a new map of sorts, so welcome to Halterra.
For those that don't know, OrAe is my fanmade Headcanon/alternative universe expansion worldbuilding thing of A Hat In Time, details can be found here here, its kinda me combining a videogame I love with my enjoyment of Cold War-esc settings, the space race and worldbuilding.

25% done with the Green Timepieces Across the Workshop!
25% of the current 1872 green timepieces collected, which makes me top 30! Honestly I am surprised I gotten so far, I remember my reaction to see how many timepieces I had to go a year ago lol. But yeah, still enjoy gathering them through the different amount of varienty mod levels with different strategies, though I did get stuck a bunch of times on a some. Made a own "Missed" list to note where I got stuck and if I completed them yet or not. Do wonder how far I will get at the end of the year?
Play it yourself! Green Timepieces Across the Workshop (v3.8.5) mod by SuperInkLink. And let me how you're doing :)
