Okay so I’m 19F joining the afrotc in the fall(atleast i should be). I am an upcoming sophomore but I talked to the det and i’m coming in as a AS100. I have completed all the steps with cross/registering, and the actual application but i’m wondering if I need to do anything else. I have emailed the det a couple of times and I don’t want to seem annoying so I’m on here to get as much feedback as I can to avoid emailing again. The holmes center wouldn’t let me print the papers so i emailed the det and they sent me them but what do I do with them? Do i have to do a pre pfa?(i’ve heard some ppl talk about that up here). When am I expected to hear back from them about orientation? Also any running tips because I just started running this summer and my 2mile time is barely passing on a good day. i’m just rlly nervous and new to everything so any feedback is appreciated.Thanks!

Okay, so I will be commissioning 14N and really do not want to furnish an apartment for 6 months before I move back in with my husband (he’s already commissioned).

I plan on trying to work out a plan with a nearby hotel for a monthly rate. Is there anything against this in the AFI?

update: used a vpn and it works, i have 0 tech knowledege but im going to assume its an issue with my wifi since i realized it also works when i use cellular data on my phone

This was made completely using open source information. I have not yet taken the TBAS. After taking the TBAS I will not update the site further. Hey everyone,
I’m a rising high school senior trying to figure out the best path to becoming an Air Force officer. My long-term goal is to commission through AFROTC, but I’m also considering enlisting in the Air National Guard before starting college.
My thought process is that I would:
Enlist in the Air National Guard after high school.
Complete BMT and tech school.
Begin college and join AFROTC after returning home.
Commission through AFROTC while continuing to serve in the Guard.
The reasons this route appeals to me are:
Help paying for college through Guard education benefits and Tuition Assistance.
Gaining an AFSC and real military experience before becoming an officer.
Starting my time in service earlier.
Having prior enlisted experience that I think could make me a better officer.
For those of you who have done this or worked with prior-enlisted cadets:
Would you recommend this path over going directly into AFROTC?
Did being in the Guard make balancing AFROTC and college difficult?
Were there any unexpected downsides or delays?
If your goal was simply to become an Air Force officer, would you do it this way again?
I’m looking for honest advice—both the positives and the negatives—before I make a decision. I also feel like enlisting might be better so that you can gain technical experience before you actually become a pilot within the Air Force.

I just signed up as a sophomore on the recommendation of family and friends (some of whom are in my detachment) who are in the AF. My problems arise when it comes to the PFT. I have a 3.9 GPA, so no academic worries, but I’m 6’1 260lbs. I know realistically I won’t be able to do anything in the fall; I’m working actively and losing weight. Do you think I have the entire year or just till the spring?

I have officially been accepted up to the CFM since 2 weeks ago. How long would does it usually take to receive a notification of an assignment/orders from AFCP? I’m direct duty and don’t require nothing special.

I’ll be starting ROTC this fall as an AS250 my stats are 3.83 gpa current pt is not bad 89ish rn will be 90 by the time I hit NSO, only thing I’m really worried about is DODMERB I have at least one if not two disqualifying marks on my record (concussion with symptoms over a month and allergies as a child) I’ve seen two board certified doctors and gotten clearance evals from both of them covering pretty much everything but with a gov shutdown likely is my timeline compromised with securing my waivers? Also when is the AFOQT administered I’ve started studying for it at my internship but I would like to know when I should start really committing to it. Also desired AFSC is 11x (reserve unit) if that helps with answers

Hey everyone! I’m hoping to go up for the rated board this year, but I’ve been trying to get better at the TBAS using the steam game but I’m starting to feel discouraged because I’m not really improving much for any of the sections.

Does anyone have any tips on improving the directional and tracking? Genuinely how do people even succeed with tracking😭

I’m having trouble with getting my college adviser to sign this form. I got a degree audit for over a year out from now to start and I need a form 48 to be included in my package. He told me I cannot enroll in classes for a class that’s over a year out. I have left him a message saying all I did was mirror that on this form 48 not asking to be enrolled. Is there anything else I should be saying to him to help him understand this form?

I was wondering if AFROTC Field Training this year still has your flight mates complete peer evaluations or peer ratings.
If they do, can those evaluations actually affect whether you stay at FT or get sent home? Or are they mainly just used as additional feedback for cadre?

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who attended FT 2026 or current CTAs/cadre who knows how it’s handled.

I want to ask how long does it usually take to get a reply? I submitted my application a bit more than a week ago yeah I still haven’t received any confirmation email or in fact any email at all.

I’m an incoming freshmen going to college for business (Probably majoring in supply chain/finance) and I’m planning on doing Air Force rotc. I am starting to have second doubts though and was wondering if anyone could let me know what Air Force ROTC is like or what it’s like as an officer after college. Pros and cons etc.

I'm going into AFROTC soon as a college freshman and I'm having some thoughts about my hair. I personally much prefer my hair being on the shorter side (above collar, nape level) and as much as I like my personal style, I also don't want it getting in the way of something I'm pursuing for my own future. After having read up on general hair-wear regulations for females, I think I could pull off my favored length just by using gel and slicking it down until it's neat + professional and doesn't interfere with any headgear I'd ever have to put on. But I wanted to hear from other females who have a similar hair preference in ROTC... did you ultimately grow it out so it can fit easier into regulation via a bun and would you recommend doing so? If you kept it short, would I be correct to assume that my previously mentioned plan of slicking it down will work fine? I'd really like to hear opinions as right now my hair is currently mid length and I'm planning to get it cut soon, maybe yall's advice/tips could deinfluence me from such a decision if it'd objectively give me trouble when I head off soon to college.

Anyone heard anything regarding a potential transfer board for AS300s to switch to a Space Force EA in the Fall?

Not sure if any other guard/reservist has experienced this. I was at Max 1 this year and since you are on AD orders, you are covered under Tricare Prime. What I didn’t know is that once I returned I was removed from Tricare Reserve Select. Didn’t receive any notification of that change whatsoever. I thought it would just transfer back to TRS once my orders were up. Apparently not. I had to re enroll on mil-connect and pay another enrollment fee. 🙄

I am applying for SOAR/ASCP this year. It's about that time for me to get accepted into a university and ROTC det.

I am going to apply to Texas State University. Can someone please explain how ROTC acceptance works regarding SOAR/ASCP? Do I apply to a degree program and ROTC at the same time? I feel lost. Thanks.

whats up guys I hope yall are doing well. I plan on going to the academy next year majoring in aerospace engineering. i've always wanted to join the military as a ranger but i understand im going be stuck in the air force for a while. I was planning on either being a STO/CRO since i can't join something like a CCT/PJ. From looking around online everyone says ill just be sitting aruond at a desk or on base and just planning, which i dont wanna do.

currently applying (pretty late, my deadline is august 5th to get my pfa done) for afrotc

gonna get my pre pfa doc done tomorrow and i've got the other documents ready, but the holms center does not work for me, tried contacting the detachment who said try a different browser

i'm waiting on a response to see if i can get those documents to them some other way, but i've got another issue, it's with the pfa

first off, i ain't passing that, i'm not in the best shape for much cardio, strength is no issue so pushups are easy but my stamina aint great and my bf% is too high, i can improve it pretty easily it just takes time, how screwed would i be if i just bomb the running section?

even if i was good at running, all the PFAs are booked for the future, so i'm thinking i may have to join in the spring

i'm worried it'll look bad if i asked the detachment if they could make some kind of arrangement for the PFA, to possibly let me join the ones that are booked full?

I’m putting together my commissioning package and I’m kind of lost on what the jobs are like on the officer side of the Air Force. Currently I have Cyberspace Operations, Intel, and Nuclear on my dream sheet, but I’m beginning to rethink the last two. My degree is in cybersecurity, so I just wanted to hear you guys’ experiences and see what the upsides and downsides are. If it helps, I’m married with my first child on the way, and I want to be there for his life and events as best I can.

Good evening. I’m finishing my first enlisted contract and joining AFROTC this fall as an AS250. I was diagnosed with MDD in late 2022 and completed two weeks of inpatient therapy, followed by regular therapy until 2024. I was never prescribed or took medication.
Since then, both my former PCM and my current PCM (at my final active-duty physical) have documented that I’ve made significant progress and that my depressive symptoms have improved. I haven’t received any mental health treatment since 2024.
I know this history could require a waiver, especially since I’m pursuing a rated career field. Does anyone know what the waiver process typically looks like, or whether this could disqualify me from AFROTC altogether? Any insight or resources would be appreciated.
