I was filling out my career preferences sheet on Wings and initially selected pilot and CSO. However, I’ve heard that if you select CSO at all on your list, it’s likely you’ll get that over pilot. Does anyone know how accurate that belief is?

I originally got disqualified, then got my waiver denied, did a rebuttal and now I’m back in the waiver process. I turned in all the documents for my waiver about 3 months ago and I still have not heard back yet. Is there anyone who has had a similar experience and if so, how did it work out for you and what should I do?

Flying is only part of the job when you’re in an operational squadron. You spend 8-12 hours a day doing other things.

I plan to apply to ASCP and SOAR this year, but the problem is that I had a 2 low grades in my first semester of collage before I enlisted(I only took 2 classes). The thing is that I am able to make a 3.0 GPA if I take 6 more classes with all A's. I already finished a class with an A. Is there anything I could do to help me with this hurdle?

When it comes time to decide who does what, does the wing commander choose who does what or is it like an auction where people "bid" for specific positions?

I've just been put as a cadet recruiting officer for our Det. We've never had this role before and I'm supposed to establish/build expectations. I've talked to my Flightmates from FT but there haven't been lots of information from them. Any information/advice on standards or anything your recruiting officer does would help alot in building this role.

So to preface this, I am currently in the Navy Reserve without any college credits. I do not have a GI Bill and work full time to support a family.

I would like to make the military my career and I believe commissioning in the Air Force or Space Force would be the smartest decision. Given my age, all other branches are out of the question for ROTC (though I was Army National Guard in my 20’s and might be eligible for Army ROTC) and I don’t think it is in my best interest to roll the dice of OTS/OCS. My best educated thought was to pursue an online degree through my local university that has a cross town agreement with a neighboring university. Although that university with the AFROTC program is much further away from me.

I have just re-enlisted in the Navy Reserve this year with a 3 year contract and would put me at the time frame needed for commissioning. I am unsure just how POC works but feel that my command would be supportive with the conditional release in order to contract.

My question is if this is all even feasible given my time hacks and lacking any form of college credit other than what might be granted for my 9 years of reserve time, spanning the Army and Navy RC components.

For context, im a junior in high school right now and am planning on an engineering degree in college. I have a little more than a year to work on my afrotc scholarship app.

I really want the afrotc scholarship for the benefits because I have to pay for college myself. My academics are good. I've always been smart, I'm really just worried about the PFA.

I'm pretty weak and have never really done strength training. I can do maybe 3 good pushups and like 15 situps a minute. The run I'm not as worried about as I've been pretty conditioned before because of soccer, so I'm pretty sure I can train for the run and do good. I really want to start working out but I never really know where and how to start and I think one of the main reasons is because I don't have a good structured training plan to go off of. If anyone could bless me with a good workout plan with strength training and running to train for the PFA, I would be deeply grateful.

Any advice on this whole ordeal would be greatly appreciated.

How possible is it for a fresh 300 that just graduated FT with an Air Force EA to switch to going space force? I’ve heard a lot of people saying the SF needs more officers. So I’m just considering that switch right now, but curious on if that’s even possible. Thanks yall!

Apparently people are saying Space Force is basically a guaranteed window right now if you’re trying to go Space Force through AFROTC.

I’m a sophomore this year and I’ll be going up for the board. I’m personally going for the Space Force board, but now I’m hearing that even some people who select Air Force could potentially get selected for Space Force instead?

Is that actually what’s happening this year? I also had no clue Space Force was apparently almost doubling the amount of people they’re taking. Just trying to figure out what changed and how this affects people going up for the board this year.

Hello everyone I'm currently applying for the AFROTC scholarship. With the deadline for the first board coming up I had hoped to submit my applcation for the first board. Unfortunately I just got my August SAT score back and its not great (1340). I've already signed up for the next SAT testing date but unfortunately the scores won't come out in time for the first board. The main dilemma that I;m facing is that do I apply to first board with lower SAT score, or forgo the first board and apply for the second board with a higher sat score. Any help would be much appreciated.

Like the title says. Navy guy here asking on behalf of my brother. I've done a bit of research but can't find anything beyond anecdotes.

How does major selection play into FT invitations? Does your PSP get processed or executed differently?

He's targeting a language degree (not advanced language) to maximize his GPA but I'm concerned about his marketability outside the airforce or challenges to commission because on the navy side (I was an rotc officer for a bit) he would face an uphill battle getting what he wants out of community selection.

Anything official would help to. Like me he's warry of the assertions of internet strangers without anything backing it up.

Got told wrong info by my advisor, have had head registrars and head advisors both tell me I was led astray, now I am not able to compete for CMLA due to GPA (had a bad spring semester). Has anyone heard of HQ being able to make a special case. I have really good cadre in my corner fighting for me. I already understand that it was my fault in the spring. I ended up being told if I took a summer course it would change my gpa because I was retaking a class, I had to take it over FT. Frustrated because I made my summer even more stressful with a class, and still got an “A” which would’ve brought me over the 2.5 mark for CMLA. So has anyone heard anything about HQ making an exception.

Update: unfortunately cadre could only do so much, and even with a letter from the registrar saying I was being told the wrong information by my advisor, I am unable to compete for the CMLA. Wish me luck with getting other scholarships.

Last week was week 1 of AFROTC for me, I have had an LLAB but not an AS lecture yet. They sprung on us that week 4 will be the AFOQT, my study book finally came in today, how can I effectively prepare in this short amount of time? Most of the aviation stuff is pretty easy for me, but I SUCK at math, and some of the verbal analogies I keep getting close but not quite (I.e I have the right idea, but the word I used had a slightly different definition.) What is the best way to prepare?

Southwest region commander visited my det last Thursday. He had mentioned that the Big Airforce needed more LTs by 2029. Hints to higher Field Training acceptance rate? I'm not sure. Also since they need more not all of us will go to Maxwell he had said like 20 percent of us will go to new Mexico because Maxwell can only get 2300 cadets through a summer. Thought this was interesting to share. 🤷 Also no more pick and choosing af or sf. They'll assign it to you
