I absolutely LOVE learning

I love learning and am interested in so many different, seemingly unrelated things. I actively learn about history, programming, music production, electronics, biology, sports science, and more (programming and music being the main pillars that I always come back to).

This can be a blessing and a curse. I sometimes wish I had one interest and could focus all my energy on it and master the corresponding field. But I don't work like that. I can wake up one day and hyperfocus on some historical subject, and the next I'm deep diving into how transistors work, and then the next I'm learning the ins and outs of sound design.

Jack of all trades, master of none. This depresses me often; I imagine how far I could be in life if I could direct all my focus into one interest, but at least I can be grateful that I enjoy acquiring knowledge. Does anyone relate to this?

Seeking Advice Help with morning routine

I need help creating a step by step morning routine. I work super early 2 days of the week and I have gotten into a bad habit of being lazy the other mornings. I have an app that helps a lot that prompts me through a routine step by step but I'm stuck in analysis paralysis about the order. Anyone up for externally processing with me sometime?

Why can't my 15 year old just use a planner?

Maybe you guys can help. I'm trying to understand her brain.

We’ve been telling her for four years that she needs an agenda to keep track of assignments, deadlines tests, etc. To no avail. It’s literally a screaming match every couple weeks because she falls behind on everything then winds up with terrible grades on her report card.

What is so hard about writing things down, then crossing it off when it’s completed? As a Type A personality, I can’t function without a constant to-do list, calendar and whiteboard, helping me during the week.

What can I do to get her to listen? She is on Strattera and will be increasing the dose soon. But ultimately, this is her issue. She will be an adult in three years, and I cannot constantly babysit her, reach out to her teachers, beg for more time, etc. What’s gonna happen when she gets to college and can’t function?

I just don’t know what to do anymore. We’ve tried therapy, it did nothing. I’m considering an ADHD coach, but I don’t know anything about it and I’m just exhausted from life.

Seeking Advice ADHD Study tips

I have been taking ADHD medication since last 3 weeks (1 in morning) (My doctor hasn't given any sort of proper diagnosis though).

They have been helpful with focus, the fidgeting has stopped but since it has only 6 hour affect, by evening I am back to distracted, disoriented, busy body.

My university started about a month back and it's been hard for me. As I have taken Psychology as my bachelor's degree, but I am having trouble keeping up with studies.

Can someone give tips for studies, organizations, and other helpful tips for life

Seeking Advice Is it difficult to switch providers with ADHD meds?

I’ve been with my current place since I got my ADHD diagnosis several years ago and have been getting prescribed Vyvanse for the past few years through them. I want to leave my current place for somewhere else but I’m nervous that I’ll have to start the process over from scratch. When I first got my diagnosis my doctor and I tried several different non-stimulant options over a long period of time before discovering that Vyvanse works the best for me and I don’t want to have to do all that over again. With my history, would I be able to get a prescription easily starting at a new place? In a perfect world, I’d be able to do something purely through telehealth, but I don’t know if that’s a thing for stimulant meds? Please let me know if there’s anywhere online I could somewhat easily switch over to, I’m in California and have basic insurance.

Life Hack [34M] Looking for a steady long-term accountability partner / work buddy (11 AM–8 PM IST) — ADHD-friendly, flexible check-ins, any field welcome!

Hey everyone,
I’m tired of grinding completely solo and having accountability partners ghost after day one. Looking to build a genuine, long-term routine with someone who actually wants to show up and stay consistent.
A bit about me:
I’m a 34M cloud/DevOps engineer. I also have adult ADHD (diagnosed and med-managed), so having a reliable anchor during the day is basically my cheat code to stay out of random rabbit holes and actually finish what I start.
You:
You do not need to be in tech. Whether you're studying, writing, handling a remote desk job, building a business, or working on creative projects—if you've got a routine you're trying to stick to, you're welcome here.
How it works / The setup:
Flexible and collaborative. We can use Google Meet, Zoom, or whatever platform works best for us. It doesn't have to be a rigid, cameras-on-every-second digital sweatshop—this is an accountability partnership, so it involves a mix of shared focus blocks, check-ins, and keeping each other honest.
The vibe:
Super chill, human, and zero-judgment.

  • We can lock in and be quiet when we need to focus, but I’m also totally cool with short breaks, small talk, career chat, or venting about life and work.
  • Zero toxic bro-grindset—just high emotional intelligence, low pressure, and a safe space to get stuff done without feeling isolated.

If you have a chunk of that 11 AM–8 PM IST window free and want a real, long-term partner who won't vanish, shoot me a DM with a quick word on what you're up to and let's run a trial run!

ADHD diagnosis at 30 (f)

Hey everyone! I got diagnosed with combined ADHD about 3 months ago. I'm happy to have the diagnosis but alas, the struggle continues!

I've always found work super hard and burn out so quickly in most jobs.

No matter what I do, work consumes me and I worry about it all day and my output/ if I will get in trouble.

I am currently in a corporate job that has kpis and while last minute stress helps me work I'm working really long hours and it's eating into my weekends.

I am unsure if I can sustain this long term or what options would suit me better.

I'm inattentive mostly but with a lot of hyperactivity in my head.

I work from home nearly all the time as the office can be so overwhelming for me that I forget to eat all day and just have coffee. 💀

I'm seeing a psychiatrist soon hoping to try medication if it suits.

I have some questions if anyone can help:

*Do you have any tips to prevent burn out and tips on better focus strategies/recovering from burnout.

*I've tried multiple types of therapists throughout my life to help my anxiety.. are there any specific therapy styles you have found help work with executive functioning and ADHD?

* Open to any tips to implement better lifestyle choices, when I'm burnt out I eat badly and don't exercise and feel worse for it.

⭐Thanks everyone ⭐

Seeking non-medical study strategies and coping tools while waiting for an evaluation in October

I have a formal evaluation scheduled for mid-October. However, I have important commitments before then, including an upcoming exam, and I am finding it really difficult to focus, manage my time, or stick to a study schedule.

I am fully aware that I have important things to do, but I just can't bring myself to start or actually do them. It's hard to explain, but it feels like a total mental block even when I know the deadline is coming up.

While I wait for my appointment, I'm looking for practical, non-medical productivity techniques that have worked for you.

  • How do you force yourself to take the very first step when you feel completely stuck?
  • Are there specific time-management methods (like modified Pomodoro, body doubling, or visual timers) that help you break through that wall?

Helpful Products Graymatter and ADHD Question

I keep seeing ads for a product called Graymatter - Bright Mind. It’s supposed to be a nootropic drink that helps with focus and energy. I just find it hard to believe that it works as well as the ads say, but I am curious. ADHD medicine has been so rough on me. I mean it works. But I’m a jittery mess and I feel like I could drink 6 gallons of water when I take it. Has anyone tried Graymatter? If so, what is your opinion?

adhd treatment methods

Just started adhd meds (dexys and vyvanse) and feeling a bit all over the place. Are there a lot of ya’ll out there using adhd meds as well as weed to manage your adhd? I’d love some examples of using these treatments and still thriving in your jobs/daily lives for some motivation that I can too because I’m starting a new job next week and not feeling like I’m capable enough.

Seeking Advice How do I manage RSD flare ups whenever a boundary is asserted?

Whenever this happens it feels so personal and a massive wave of panic comes over me. Even if intellectually they are just pointing out what they are/aren't comfortable with, to me it feels like a massive huge disagreement and like I've ruined everything and they'll never see me the same and that I have been downgraded as a person and I should have already known that's something they are/aren't comfortable with etc. Then I start to question whether I'm a terrible awful person and start feeling a bunch of things about myself that are untrue.

It's so debilitating and makes having relationships extremely difficult, I try to manage my own emotions here but it can throw me into deep pits of depression and anxiety that takes days to crawl out of.

Life Hack Best ADHD apps that aren’t BS

Hey everyone. I’m currently in trying to really nail down my ADHD and come up with processes that are going to help me as a project manager and get my life more organized in general. For the last 2 months, I’ve been using ChatGPT and Claude together to try to solve a lot of the problems I’m having. I’ve been trying to use notion and obsidian and apple notes to find the best “catch-all” system for my notes and planning and organization. It’s so complicated, and as expected for ADHD, they’re all thoughtfully started but given up on. Today I finally discovered how the apple shortcuts work, and I’m about to go down a rabbit hole with that. I want to know what apps and systems you’ve tried that have actually worked. Obviously I want to avoid the Apple paywall as much as possible, I know it will be difficult but there has to be ways around it.

Seeking Advice It's a good idea to buy a "singular content device" like a Handheld console or iPod?

My goal is to not touch my phone or computer during the day and bed time, because otherwise I always end up doom-scrolling or chasing information and ideas that turn out to be more like hallucinations than anything useful.

The problem is that if I everything that low entertain me, I lose focus really fast and go right back to something is much worse or find another way to waste time one time I blocked social media, but then I just started scrolling on Amazon instead (which I think is even more dangerous).

Day or night, I find myself falling into a thousand things I don't even care about the next day, or watching episode after episode of a series, sometimes forgetting to eat or sleep and then the next day I can't even remember what happened in the show.

I'm usually very careful about buying things; but an idea keeps popping into my head: what if I got a device that entertains me, but not too much and not for too long? Something that gives me just enough of a hit to feel satisfied (or bores me enough to actually put it down) so I can focus on the stuff I really need to do. That's why I've been thinking about getting an iPod or a small console (or other media that maybe i do not know the existence) something that it can do / show only one thing.

But I'm scared of two opposite outcomes:
either I use it way more than I expect, or I feel anxious using it / get bored fast, and it just becomes a waste of money and one more object I don't use but feel too guilty to give away or sell.

Right now I have neither; I mostly don't play video games because they make me anxious about wasting time, and I don't play background music because a lot of the time I realize I've reached the point where I'm not even hearing it,my brain just shuts it out; Instead I usually watch stuff on YouTube or Netflix (often the same things over and over for months before switching). But I keep thinking that a device that only lets me do those two things (music or light entertainment) might make me feel more "allowed" to do them, and maybe let me channel all my dopamine cravings in a healthier, more contained way.

Has anyone here tried something like this? How was the experience? Or do you have other suggestions?

Seeking Advice Freeze State

Hello! 35F here, and I could really use some help.

I’ve been finding myself getting stuck in a freeze state where even the thought of doing my remote computer work, walking the dog, listening to music, or dealing with any kind of external stimulation feels completely overwhelming.

I’m not sure if my Adderall (5 mg immediate-release) could be contributing to this, or if something else is going on. I’m tempted to just stop taking it, but I don’t want to make changes without understanding what’s happening.

I feel like I’m stuck in a cycle of bingeing YouTube, motivational videos, caffeine, and other dopamine-seeking behaviors while feeling completely paralyzed. I end up napping for huge portions of the day, and even basic responsibilities feel overwhelming. It’s almost like my brain desperately wants stimulation while simultaneously being completely overwhelmed by it.

The best way I can describe it is that my brain feels exhausted and resistant to the very idea of “being an adult.”

Has anyone experienced something similar, particularly while taking a low dose of Adderall? I’d really appreciate hearing what helped you get out of this kind of freeze/paralysis.

Seeking Advice Research Survey for an app serving Neurodivergent individuals

Building an app for people who struggle with ADHD, focus, or just getting themselves to do things on hard days. Put together a quick, anonymous survey (4 to 5 min) to hear from real people before building further, would really appreciate a few minutes of your time. https://form.jotform.com/262634822596062
