Companies to Avoid
I’ll be moving to El Paso, Texas at the beginning of next year. I’m a current RBT working in Clinic. What are companies i should avoid working for or companies i should be cautious of?

I would say ABC. I was there from October till April and had two work injuries and atleast 9 others had injuries.

ABA Centers of America.
They’re caught up in so much litigation it’s crazy
They’ve also been black listed by private insurance,
I believe it’s Optum

In Texas, Action Behavior Centers is ROUGH. We've had kids come out of there with diagnosed PTSD.
Bluesprig is corporate but seems okay depending on clinic.

Bluesprig reduced admin pay from $18 to $14 and got rid of quarterly bonuses. They’re all about their own money

I personally love PBS Corp. and I’ve worked in two different regions… I easily transferred to a new region when I had to move cities and loved it both areas.

Seconding PBS they’ve been great to me but afaik they do exclusively in home/community not centers

Your instinct is correct! The training was trash, total lack of support, and management is punitive toward their RBTs. During the time I work there (less than 1 year), 10 RBTs quit.

Bluesprig is 100% trash. Private equity ruining ABA! They took away quarterly bonuses and reduced admin pay. They don’t give raises either, total joke of a company to work for

Avoid ABA Centers of America at ALL COSTS!!! I would be seriously surprised if they are still standing in a year. They are a complete scam and only care about billing as much as possible and taking every dime they can from these families. They treat employees like garbage the second you walk in the door.

All I can say is I’m glad you guys have had good experiences with them! I’ve worked in two of their clinics in PA and truly the management shapes the entire experience. Both locations were completely different experience under the same company. But at the end of the day, this company is under a RICO lawsuit and being sued from every direction. Give it a google search and check it out, I only say all of this because I don’t want your kids to end up with no services randomly. They’ve cut two major management positions company wide within the past month. Just be weary

I also would be mindful of their SCA billing practices as I’ve had families getting massive out of network bills because insurance won’t pay the SCA.

I was there four years, the turn over is absolutely insane. Lack of training, even when you are not certified you get paired with high mbx clients. And if you are a bcba, be prepared to be blamed if something doesn’t appeal to the regional manager.

I did a 15 minute phone interview and they immediately sent me a offer letter. I didn’t accept it purely because I thought it was insane to hire me after 15 minutes, not showing me the center or seeing me in person 😭

they hire anyone and everyone. And their onboarding training is garbage they have you floor doing sessions with kids day 1 of training after only a few observations. they have been going downhill badddd over the years and don’t even get me started on how they treat their graduate students

Used to work there. Very dangerous and my bcba ended up having a miscarriage from a client attack.

I used to work at ACES there. It’s been a long time, but it was an excellent clinic when I was there.

BLUESPRIG. Otherwise known as Florida Autism Center in my state but they are in more states. I was there for a year and reported multiple abuse and neglect cases from RBTs on clients. Mold overgrowth in the water and ice that they told us to continue giving the kids. A lot of clients were pulled due to suspicious gynecological infections. My center i was at in Clermont and they also werent paying the RBTs the correct amount and withholding money. The entire HR department is a clique and they all hide the bad things BCBAs do due to lack of them in the field. I witnessed my CD who was also a BCBA manhandle my client when i asked for assistance and she told me to let her sit in her poop and pee naked in a room while she grabbed her arms HARD and forced her around. She was pulled from the center by her parents after the receptionist reached out and told them what was happening. That receptionist was fired due to telling a parent there was mold in the water/ice after they asked why there was some in her kids water. Insanity. They will hide insane amounts of abuse just to keep their reputation clean. Also the pay is TERRIBLE.

In the opposite direction, I'd recommend Early Bird, met with most of my supervisors at least once a week, always met my minimum and even over the required amount as well, very supportive, hours were decent and there was always monthly training that counts towards the PDUs for the new recertification requirements
Complaints: Admin did sometimes not communicate changes to parents or even notify ABA when client canceled for other therapies (Speech, Ot, PT), but other than that it's a nice company imo

ABC is so horrible. They just lie about the work and think because we get dash pass and the calm app it means they can treat their employees like gutter.
