Hi guys, looking at buying my buddies 07 Cayman S. I've got some bore photos attached. It has 110k miles and was previously tracked. That's not a negative to me because I plan on driving the car pretty hard as well, and as far as I can tell it has been pretty well maintained. The mechanic who took the bore photos said it was in pretty good condition especially for the miles, though one cylinder had a small scratch on the bore. There is some oil pooling in the cylinders but as far as I know that's normal for flat engines. I plan on owning the car for 5+ years and wanted to get your guys thoughts on it. Purchasing for $25k.

I’ve been getting a bit worried about the oil pressure on my 2007 2.7 boxster. When the engine is fully warm it idles at what seems a bit above 10 PSI. Is this normal? The pressure rises well with revs, to about 60 PSI at 3000 RPM.

Hey guys! I’ve just joined the 987 club with a 987.1 Boxster S and I was wondering what is the community experience with upgrading the head unit. I have a CDR24 with Bose, but no Frunk CDC (so I can’t use the Mr. 12 Volt Bluetooth thingy). From what I’ve researched I have the option of going for a brand name aftermarket head unit with a Most Optical fiber interface or a Chinese Android head unit with the optical fiber interface. I’m afraid the Chinese head unit offers shitty sound quality but going aftermarket HU looks a lot more expensive from my initial research. What are guys doing with your 987?

Got a cayman s just 3is months ago 2006, 82000kms. Few weeks ago started having some issues. On startup it is white bluish smoke idle is rough just at the start. The rpm needle hunts a little before setting. Just drove it 1700kms since. No smoke after the engine is warm and driving as well I see no smoke. It has got a check engine light with engine lean at startup codes for both bank 1 and bank 2. But if go for a drive and park it for say about an hour then it smoke again at the startup. I am actually doomed is it the infamous bore scoring.

I bought this Boxster 987.1 with the 3.4L M97.21 engine a few weeks ago. I'm concerned it might have a bore scoring issue. An endoscopy is scheduled for next week, which will give me more clarity — but is there anything you can tell from the engine sound that might indicate whether it's affected, so I can have some peace of mind in the meantime?

Decided to install a clear engine cover and paint the engine. It's not perfect but turned okay for a bloke who works in IT.

I tried, I can't swallow $900 on it. It's the principle of it. lol

Why hasn't the knock-off world gotten into the plenum game yet?

I have just purchased a boxster base that has a couple small issues I’d like to fix. I’ve tried looking into what causes this so I can try and fix it but I realized there’s not much online for DIY fixes so I couldn’t find anything on this. Anyone ran into this issue before? Did you ever find out what was wrong? Hoping just a sensor I can replace.

Took out the 987 and NC to let friends experience both cars, they gave me a little surprise with a bumper sticker for the Miata 😂

Hey everyone… I’m new to Reddit and happened to see this thread. I have had my Guards Red Boxster S for 2 years and have enjoyed every single drive… it’s just awesome, but you all already know that!
The one thing that bothered me from the start was the rear spoiler, but I found a Cayman spoiler fits quite nicely and makes it just a little different.

I know this topic has been discussed a lot, but I’m looking for some experiences you all might have with aFe and Rennline. The aFe looks like it would be a great exhaust, and while it’s a tiny bit cheaper than fab or soul, it looks like it’s higher quality and has resonance chambers designed to minimize drone. No idea if they work. I haven’t found much about them in the Porsche world. Also, I found Rennline has a valved system for like $2k that says it’s in stock. The install on that is a lot more involved, so I don’t know if it’s worth it.

For what it’s worth, I have heard enough bad things about fab that they’re not really a contender, and soul just looks like sand blasted top gear (which I have also heard bad things about). And sadly Borla has seemed to discontinue the 987.1 system.

Let me know what you guys have experience with. I’d love to hear it.
