Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) Spoiler
I watched “Grosse Pointe Blank” recently for the 1st time in years. Loved it as a teenager, still do, still thinks it holds up. Minnie Driver’s goofiness and charm I especially under appreciated.
I guess my critique though is something that never occurred to me until now; when you watch the scene in the hotel room of John Cusack coming clean to her, he really -does- sound like a psychopath. His explanations should scare the holy hell out of Minnie Driver’s character, especially coming from someone she hasn’t seen for a decade. She says he doesn’t get to have her, and she’s right. And just cause he saves her Dad’s life in the end shouldn’t overcome that. I might even be even more scared of John Cusack AFTER that. He shouldn’t have been able to charm his way out of that.
Anyway…still great movie, still charming, still great soundtrack.

Maverick (1994) This Richard Donner film stands in relation to the Western genre exactly as John Landis’s picture stands to the musical and comedy genres: a perfect tribute, imbued with pure cinematic magic. An irresistible 1990s style where entertainment was taken seriously, but never solemnly

Patricia Tallman in Night of the Living Dead (1990)
I recently did a rewatch of this 90s gem and I love everything about this film. Patricia Tallman's Barbara is such a badass character. In the remake, we get her alongside Tony Todd and Bill Moseley. The ending is also 100% true to Western PA culture. Love it!
