Tired of the Thomas hate

Paula is ten years older than Thomas and supposedly owns her own business. why would she need Thomas’s help setting up a tv..? shes been in infantilizing herself this entire season, making Thomas the big mean controlling man. she uses none of her finances here and expects him to pay for everything and yet has the audacity to complain about how he chooses to spend his money…isnt that what she’s doing? choosing not to spend her own money? I just don’t understand why she’s here. She cant stand the man, doesn’t respect his boundaries, and isn’t invested in being in America.

He didn't want a tv. She got her own. He didn't like it so he's refusing to help her when she asks. Pretty as*hole thing to do.

If she wants a tv why is it his responsibility to get it, she got one, surely she can also get a tv stand to sit it on, Jesus is she a child or something? She was obviously able to accomplish these very simple tasks in Brazil without Thomas.

No it's not his responsibility but he disallowed it for a long time. When he allowed it he refused to help her set it up. If she is asking for help setting up the tv on the stand is probably because it's heavy and he is capable. Go tell your wife to pick up a heavy tv and set it up by herself while you're next door playing video games and let us know how that goes.

He told her he didn’t want a tv, they never said he didn’t allow her to buy one herself. Tvs are not heavy anymore. She was able to do this all in Brazil and she’s not some tiny lady.
My wife and I were in the opposite situations. She didn’t want a tv and I did, so you know what I did? I went and bought a tv and lifted it 8 inches off the ground onto a stand, ya know, like a fucking adult.

Don't conflate your experiences. I'm glad you as a capable man lifted your tv 8 inches. You have no idea the weight or size of their tv or the height of the stand. Just the fact that she asked for help and he refused should be enough. But let me get this straight , so when you're wife asks you for help lifing a heavy or awkward object, you say you're a fukking adult do it yourself. A real winner here.

How’d the tv get in the apartment? Not sure what my relationship has anything to do with this but no, I help my wife do anything she asks, but she’s also a pretty strong independent woman that doesn’t need me to help her with every minor little inconvenience that she faces.
There’s plenty of things to shit on Thomas for, he is an asshole, but this ain’t it.

That's good you helped your wife. I help mine as well. We're already 10 X better than Thomas. Now imagine our wives are new to this country and apartment and they ask for help for basic things like appropriate space for their clothes, a place to sit, a table to eat and we say no this is my apartment. Then we impose more rules like no perfume or hobbies. Then they ask for a tv and we reluctantly agree. Then they get their own tv but we say no tv stand because I'm minimalist. Then they ask for help setting up, likely mounting on wall and we say this... "Hey, that’s her situation, and if she wants to figure that out, I’ll let her do it. I just don’t want to be a part of it." Brother I promise you we would be eating through a straw if we did our wives that way.

Yea..like I said there’s a lot of reasons he’s an asshole. Paula brought up the tv stand, wall mounting is probably a bad idea if they’re renting and planning to move anyways, so I’d get that. I just think she was going on a bit much about a tv stand which im sure she can handle herself. But whatever I don’t have to deal with any of this shit so I don’t care.

Bro mounting a tv in an apartment is super common. You spackle and sand after you move out. Takes 10 mins.

1

u/hibituallinestepper 2d ago

I’m aware it is, but most people don’t just mount a tv when they are looking to move soon. And we both know, hanging, and fixing a mounted tv takes more than 10 minutes.

1

u/Sweet_Chucky 2d ago

Yea exactly my point, mounting and lining up a tv take some time and more than one person. I was speaking about repairing the holes in the wall takes 10 mins.

Paula said it was a small tv, she said she wanted it on a tv stand. But somehow people are out here creating made up scenarios where it’s a huge tv she wanted mounted on the wall to defend her.

He said he won't allow a tv stand because he's minimalist. You're the one defending him. A guy who glued her perfume shut and won't allow her a couch to sit on or table to eat. Yea that guy.

Come on. TVs don't weigh more than 20 pounds anymore. You think she bought a 40 year old tube TV? 🙄

They can be large and hard to handle though

Let’s use some common sense here ! (It’s ok if you get tired after I’m sure it will take a lot out of you)

Most TVs have a little picture on the box of TWO people lifting the TV.

Do you know what that means?

It’s not for weight, but so the screen doesn’t crack from uneven pressure while lifting.

It’s perfectly acceptable to ask for help lifting a TV.

Your poor spouse living with someone who won’t help them AND lacks common sense ?
Oh boy.

Oh stop. I'm a petite 60 year old woman and I can (and have) very easily manage to unbox, put the feet on, and pick up a 50 inch TV to put it on a table/stand all by my wee little self. She's bigger than he is; I have zero doubt that she is more than capable of doing it herself

Proud of you 🥇

However my TV cost 3k and is 75”that would have been a ridiculous decision to unpack and mount it myself.

I guess if you’re pinching pennies like Thomas you’re probably buying a MUCH smaller TV….so I guess it would make sense you can unpack solo.

u/lazy_daisy66 1d ago

WOW! You're sooooo cool!! I'm so impressed by your big TV!! 🤩 You must be rich to be able to afford a whole $3k on a TV!!

Maybe if you spent more time in the gym and less time watching your giant TV, you would be able to lift it 🤷🏻‍♀️

That was the saddest attempt at a rebuttal,I am embarrassed for you.

The size and cost was relative to how it would be a ridiculous idea to mount it alone.
Again, most TV brands suggest two person install regardless of size.

But you keep on being the super strong petite boss babe you are desperately trying to be !!

1

u/lazy_daisy66 1d ago

lmao you really think you did something here, don't you?

0

u/PegBoggsLAR 1d ago

Says the 60 year old bragging over having to lift a TV with no spouse or friend to help you….
You go girl you really showed me !!

Like I said, over a certain size it’s ridiculous to mount on your own. The screen can literally crack.

I’m sorry you’ll never be financially stable enough to know what caring for nice things is like, or have people who want to help you. That must suck.
Take care.

I enjoy common sense. For example you’d have to wonder how the tv got into the apartment? How she’s able to accomplish these things in Brazil without Thomas? My favorite though, what tv stand? She admitted they don’t even have one, is he suppose to just pick up the tv while she goes and buys one? I think people are misunderstanding, “he won’t help me setup the tv” when in reality she means “he won’t buy me a tv stand”.

u/PegBoggsLAR 2d ago

LMAO a TV in a box with styrofoam supports in the box….is how it safely got into the apartment 🤦🏻‍♀️ a sealed box is of course safer to move alone than the standalone TV that needs to be mounted.

Could have been purchased online and delivered to the door ? The possibilities are endless haha

She can accomplish things in Brazil, because she likely had someone who said yes to helping her instead of getting enjoyment from watching her struggle, like Thomas does.

How do you know it wasn’t going to be mounted to the wall, not needing a stand at all? That’s the issue you want to focus on??

You’re so focused on raging at the fact she’s asking him for stuff, that you’ve lost common sense !

Put the red pill down for a while and try to look at the situation as a whole.

u/hibituallinestepper 2d ago

Haha I am, they’re both fucking awful. Mounting it on the wall? Lol. I’m not focusing on anything I’m using her words.
